The head is a cylinder for planning purposes, though it also tapers before joining the shaft. (Product pictures don't show that sheath. will this it fit through a 1/2 inch copper water pipe??

The magnet tip needs around a 5/8 hole or larger so yes it should fit thru the 1/2 copper water pipe.
