Is there anything to stop bugs from flying/crawling inside between the upper part of the walls and canopy?

Yes the cube is a totally separate tent that a roof of screen and material. The cube is huge placed a queen size cot/air mattress in the middle and had plenty room on the sides and was able to fully stand up. Well worth the price and super easy set up.

Would this fit two queen air mattress?

It should. The tent is 10'x10'. Measure the width of your air mattress. If it is 5-feet wide or less (as they should be), they will fit. These tents are very large and, unlike other tents, there is usable space everywhere because the walls go straight up. An adult can stand upright in every inch of the 10'x10'.

Can this possibly fit a 12x12?

Yes 100%. I use mine under a 13x13. You just have to buy/use extenders. There's many ways to do this like bungie cords but I bought a roll of nylon strap from home depot and cut pieces off to fit/stretch under my 13x13 I already have. Works great. I just did one dry run before the actual camp to make sure the straps are cut to fit and have them tied in.

Can this stay attached to the frame (I know that part is sold separately) when put away, or does it need to be fully removed in between each use?

I would recommend to put it away separately. It wouldn’t fit in the easy up bag with the tent attached. Doesn’t take long at all. The cube tent comes with a separate carrying bag as well
