CRAFTSMAN 20V Cordless String Trimmer and Lawn Edger, Tool Only (CMCST910B)

I am a 65-year-old woman with a farm. My primary string trimmer is a gas powered Stihl. Sometimes the job is smaller, or I’m just plain pooped out and want to use a lighter weight machine. This one is perfect. It’s a replacement for the one I had for years and finally killed, and it is holding up to some serious abuse. I’ve taken on some pretty tough jobs with this string trimmer, and it hasn’t failed me. Battery life is great. The thumb driven string advance is a much better design than the old tap advance, which was dependent on having a firm surface to tap, and beat up the head. Length adjustment is easy so you can work out the best length and balance for your body, and the tension clips stay tight. For a lightweight machine, this one is tough. I expect to get years of use from this trimmer.

My go to string trimmer. It’s light weight, comfortable, easy to use.. it’s perfect for me, really. The battery charges in decent time and lasts for ages it seems. I’ve purchased it twice for myself, and once for my mother. I had it for 5 years. It stopped feeding line. (probably because I did 0 maintenance and treated it badly.) I spent $400 buying a deluxe Ego brand replacement. (Which was very powerful but waayyyyy too heavy and awkward.) After a month of that, I bought another one of these. That was a year ago, and this one is still going strong. I love it! It compliments my $400 paperweight perfectly.

The poor people in Canada that are having serious power troubles with theirs should have returned them. They payed too much for defective trimmer. This is the best battery trimmer I have ever used! To top that off it was $99 with a 4ah battery! They have since raised the price considerably, $10 more and NO battery! I trim around everything in a crowded yard and I could do it all twice, if I wanted, with one charge! I am not use to a battery lasting this long so I bought an extra 6ah to boot. The auto line feed is hit or miss but it works enough not to bother me and actually the .080” thick line lasts very long compared to smaller diameter line. The ergonomics of the straight grip is a little uncomfortable and it is too short for me at 6’3” but I think all trimmers are too short except for one or two big buck trimmers a friend has owned.

Nice balance and not that heavy but works great on my grass lawns and flower boarders. It only has one string compared to my old line cord two string trimmer but I’m not seeing any difference in cutting ability and it doesn’t have two string spools getting tangled up inside. My only concern would be using this for cutting a yard with tall weeds, not sure it could manage that.

This was my second craftsman seedeater, this one works perfectly for my wife. It's not to heavy and loading the string is easy pizy.

So far, no complaints. Has a lot of power and is the perfect size for my yard. Took down all the weeds growing in the alley in about half the time as my old trimmer. Only used about 1/4 of the 4ah battery. String advance button works well. It's light weight. I will mention, make sure to check that all the screws are tight, not just the ones on the handle you install. Found a couple that needed a turn or two.
