Burkit 1/2"-28 UNEF Tap and Die Set Right Hand

Using this to chase threads in 3D printed models. It's worked great so far, but I am in no way stressing it

This is a common thread pitch for many many barrels and muzzle devices. If the barrel or muzzle device gets its threads messed up for whatever reason, this is a good way to salvage what may otherwise be trashed or a project for a gunsmith. I had a Surefire muzzle device that was tapped with a slight cross-thread. Unfortunately, I didn't realize it until the damage had been done to my barrel threads. This kit fixed both and saved me a trip to the smith, and a few hundred dollars in either in replacement parts or labor.

Machining and metalwork needs precision and these are made correctly.

Only used these to thread some plastic parts. Work well on my project

The tap didnt fit any of my tap wrenches. Even ones of similar sizes. Had to mill tap before use... I've never had this issue. Won't fit Snap-on TD-88, or any associated holders in the set. Too big. Cuts fine

Good quality Nide quality at a reasonable price. I expect these tools to last a long time.

I needed this set for a couple of particular home hobbyist jobs. I typically like to spend a little more money for tools that are from a known, reputable brand. In this case I took a shot looking to save a little money, and it paid off. I use Tap Magic for most of my threading jobs, and I did the same with this set. I had no issues cutting clean threads, and also had good luck chasing some boogered threads with the die. I can't say how it would hold up in a production environment, but for me, based on the few uses, it should last a lifetime as long as I don't drop it or let it rust. I have no problem recommending this set.
