Great quality seed
Works great! First time I’ve ever grown grass and it takes patience and water but the end result is super satisfying!

Creates a lush tick lawn.
The seeds take longer to germinate than other seed but the fact that they send out ryzomes makes it well worthwhile.

Very poor germination
Mowed low, scarified, aerated, top dressed and seeded with Barenbrug nearly two months ago and still very minimal germination. Watered frequently each day and still nothing. I hope there is a difference come spring but I’m not hopeful about this one. Sticking with Twin City as it has done very well in the front.

Full germination!
Strong germination! Used high quality peat moss to cover the seeds. Not sure why people have trouble germination with these. Probably not enough water or moisture retention. Or time of year… I recommend putting seed in water bucket for a week before planting. Drain and mix seeds with high quality fine peat moss and spread. Add a thin layer of peat moss to ensure seeds are covered. Required minor daily watering. Location South Carolina March weather. Could probably not pre germinate with a good coat of peat moss, but doing the bucket pre germinate helps reduce water usage. Photo of germinating after a week planted. Update as of June 7th. Amazing grass. Has been very resilient even after having a tree cut near the growing grass and workers stepping all over it to clean the fallen tree. Beautiful grass! Buying more to finish the rest of the area! Has required less maintenance than the other areas I used sod.

It works well but its not a miracle product
I bought this seed because I wanted a fescue that would be self-repairing. My sprinklers don't hit every part of my lawn perfectly and every year I get large dead spots in 4 locations on my lawn. Last fall I prepped the spots, seeded and top dressed. Watered regularly. Seeds germinated in about a week and was mowing in about 2.5 weeks. A year later, my dead spots are about 75% smaller than they had been every other year at this time, so I'd say it works. But it's not a miracle product. Still need to water, aerate and fertilize. Will buy again. But I'll be mixing in some bluegrass for some wider blades because this stuff is more fine than I expected it to be.

Didnt grow
No matter what we did - 60% of the grass wouldn't grow. It would only grow in small patches in odd places. We even tried using fertilized soil from the big box stores to help, no joy. Very expensive seed for no results. Very Disappointed.

Does a good job of filling in thin or bald areas.
I've over seeded my whole yard with this the last 3 falls after core aerating. I had a few large areas on a slope around 3 maple trees where the grass was very thin with a lot of bald spots. It does a good job of filling in thin or bald areas. It takes a couple of years to fully fill in but was noticeable after the first year. All have filled in & my yard looks the best it ever has!

Best seed I’ve ever purchased!
First time in years that grass seed actually worked in this area. This is a problem spot for us with foot traffic and clay soil. I’m always amending the soil but the “ commercial seed” (we know the name), we used all the time never worked. We are beyond pleased with this product Picture is a months growth with first cutting.
