This is an Excellent Product, the ONLY Negative is the Piezo Electric Start…get rid of it, save the customer $20.00. There are other Torches almost identical (Probably all made in China of course)..so, do your shopping, but I am 100% Satisfied with this product, AFTER i bought a Flint Starter..it takes very little Propane to get this started once that “Spark” hit it. My neighbor next door has used it as much as I have, its FUN to use, but be very, VERY Careful, carry some water along in case a fire breaks out!

Worked great lighting my propane burner. Extra spark refills.

I was apprehensive when I read the reviews for this lighter, but at the time this product seemed like the least bad choice. There was a similar product with better reviews that wouldn't have shown up for two weeks. I wanted the product sooner than two weeks. There is nothing wrong with this lighter. It reliably produces a spark. I have a gas stove with a worn out igniter. I turn the knob on that stove almost to the end but not far enough to trigger the igniter. Then, I use this lighter to ignite the gas. It works. The trouble is that I need to push the arm in as well as move it sideways. I've used this type of igniter before, decades ago. So, I knew exactly what to do when I simply swung the arm sideways without getting a spark. The misunderstanding could have been avoid with a piece of paper, included in the packaging, instructing the user to push in and sideways. So, I give this product only four stars because of that missing piece of paper with helpful instructions.

As others have stated, you need to bend the arm in order to create the spark against the flint, unless of course you put downward pressure every time you attempt to strike Flint. This really becomes an issue when you have nails, which wouldn't be a reason to dock a couple stars from the rating, except that I can't find a reason for why it would be designed this way. In addition, if you have any kind of substance on your fingers, getting a good hold on the metal arms-while at the same time putting downward pressure-is cumbersome. Having said that, I did demonstrate the lighter working, after editing out the three times it slipped out of my hand. Only a slight recommend here.
