A beautiful chess. Set
I bought this because I was skeptical of the reviews I read. One raved about it and another claimed that the board wrinkled and would not flatten out. Well you can put me on the rave side of the controversy. The pieces are in a plastic I've never seen. It is not like vinyl and not like resin. It has a very nice tactile feel in the hand. The weight is substantial and the size is perfect in my opinion. The king measures 3.75" tall. And it has 2 extra queens included. I was a little skeptical that one review stated that casting seams were non existent. There are some casting seams but I had to examine the pieces with a jewelers loupe to find them. They have been scraped to the point of oblivion. I am very impressed. Part of the body of the pieces is hollow, I shined a strong light through them. The head or finial on most pieces is solid and the bases are solidly weighted. The board is verrry flexible silicone material and any wrinkles or folds shake right out. No folds remaining. I.was very concerned that they would stay in and cause lumps and lines where the folds were. NOPE. The board fits into the case folded in half then in thirds. It's about an exact fit. The case is very nice and sturdy. It has a double zip heavy duty zipper closing at the bottom.there are 2 velvet bags for the pieces that have draw string closures 1 black and 1 white. There is a pocket in the case that is suitable for a notebook or literature. My old plastic chess set is more than 50 years old and very "chinky" plastic. This is light years from that one. After seeing this one and thourughly examining it in detail, I ordered on for my granddaughter and her family. I'm looking forward to some long distance matches with her. If you are on the fence about buying this set rest assured its a beautiful set and board. It's set up to be very portable, take it to the park or to a friend's house or for tournament play. It's a very good deal, buy it.

Quality chess set with nice case
Nice set - the pieces are durable plastic, large size, good weight, felt bottoms and nicely finished. They feel like a good chess piece should. The board is large, lies flat, rolls up and everything fits into the zip-up case which seems to be good quality as well, making it very portable. Came with an extra queen of each color, some stickers and a book of openings and defenses. I paid a little more than some of the other sets available but I wanted a black and white mat, not a green checkered one that seemed to be what came with all the other sets. It's a tournament quality set that I can also play with my 8-year old and not be afraid of him dropping pieces on the floor. Very happy with this purchase.

Worth the price
Really great set! Pieces have a great weight to them, chess mat is large. It comes with an easy travel case so you can store it away. Great for park play or tournament play.

Giftable - a 5-star Championship-sized exquisite chess set
After reading other reviews, I was leaning heavily towards the A&A Chess Set, and it is total quality in every respect. As a member of a chess club, I brought this set to our weekly meeting and set it up for play. The silicon chess board is truly amazing - it unfolds and lays totally flat on our wood table. A couple of sweeps with my palm and any 'folds' or 'wrinkles' disappear as if by magic. The other members immediately were impressed and complimented me on the set. The pieces themselves are a joy - each one is well crafted and has real 'heft' (gravitas, 'weight') to it. The styling of the pieces is aesthetically pleasing to the eye and makes each chess game joyous regardless of who wins the match. The set is rated as 'championship' size and that is accurately stated. A&A includes some 'packaging candy' (stickers) and the carrying case and black & white carry-bags with drawstrings make a real 'classy' touch. Topping it all off is a pair of extra queens (every pawn is a potential queen as A&A likes to say) for those thrilling end-game promotions! I have experienced many different chess sets, this one is not a toy, it is more an 'enthusiast' level set. The notations along the board edges make it easy to log each move if you so choose. If you love chess or want to impress a chess aficionado in your life, this set will be a hit, no question. The tactile 'feel' of each piece is remarkable, and appear to be made of a resin material for durability. The pawns have nice rounded tops with no seams or rough edges. The bishop styling is superb, and the knight artistry is stunning. Every aspect of this item is pleasing to the eyes and to your hands when making moves or capturing opponent's pieces. You can instantly tell what each of you have lost on the battlefield by casting your gaze aside to look at the captured pieces beside the board. Of all the things I have purchased from Amazon over the years, both little and large, this by far is in the top echelon and gets my strong buy recommendation. It will not disappoint, be it a personal acquisition or a gift for a friend or relative.

Good choice
I can’t say anything bad about it. The quality is surprisingly good, especially for the price. The pieces are heavy and feel solid. The silicone mat works as it should—it lays flat and is comfortable to play on. I’m very happy with this purchase.

I kept this A&A quadruple weighted set and returned the Bobby Fischer triple weighted set
I purchased 2 different chess sets online because I couldn't decide which to order even after many days of studying the photos and reading all the reviews. It was intended for gift but I will be playing the game with the recipient in future, so I decided to see them both in person and keep the one I liked best. The two sets are: "A&A Tournament Chess Set/ 20"x20" Foldable Silicone Chess Board / 3.75" King Height Plastic Quadruple Weighted Classic Staunton Pieces/Storage Bag for 6 Years Old - 2 Players" with ASIN B09W8ZY7ST and "Bobby Fischer Ultimate Chess Pieces Set, Staunton Plastic Tournament Chess Set -Extra Queens, Triple Weighted" with ASIN B07C2HPMQ5 Seeing them in person made it an easy decision for me and I kept the A&A set & returned the Bobby Fischer set because there were only 2 things I liked better with the BF set and at least 9 things I liked better with the A & A set. WEIGHT: The main thing I liked better on the Bobby Fischer set was that it was noticeably heavier & the weight was exactly as it said on the box (each set of pieces registered at 1.8 lbs (sometimes jumping to 2.0 lbs depending where I positioned it) on my digital scale & both black and white pieces together was 3.8 lbs. The A&A pieces only weighed 1.4 lbs each color(sometimes measuring 1.2 depending how I positioned it) or 2.6 lbs for both black & white pieces combined. Even though the A&A set claims to be "quadruple weighted" it actually was lighter than the "triple weighted" BF pieces. KING: The other thing I liked better about the Bobby Fischer set was the top of the king flared out a bit more on top & was therefore easier to grasp to move the piece. But neither of these things were enough to convince me that the Bobby Fischer set was the better set because I liked the cross on top of the king better on the A&A set- as well as all the other pieces! VISUAL APPEARANCE: The A & A set was more visually appealing in multiple ways. SEAMS: There were no visible seams in the A&A set where the plastic was joined together but I could see all the seams in the Bobby Fischer set, both on the sides of the pieces as well as looking down on top of the pieces (which was particularly noticeable looking down on the top of the king) ROOK: The A&A rook was MUCH better designed & visually appealing both from the side as well as looking down on the top. The BF rook only has 5 slots in the top but the A&A has 6 which are additionally wider "spaces" (not just a "slit") and can be seen better (more pronounced) especially from the top, but also look nicer from the side. Initially before seeing them in person I thought I'd prefer the BF rook because it appeared to have a taller top in the online photos (and indeed it does) but when I saw them in person I realized how much nicer the A&A rook actually was. The BF rook is just too huge on the top and the design can be more easily appreciated from both side & top view on the A&A rook. KNIGHT: Again, no contest here. The A&A knight was not only much better looking and more detailed (the mane, the mouth, etc) but it was easier to grasp & move. It also did not come with scuffs on it. SCUFFS: One of the BF knights came with many little scuffs on it (from hitting the other pieces in transit) which I couldn't rub off so I thought that over time, this plastic was more easily scuffed up and in years to come all the pieces would look worse than the other set. COLOR: The color of the A&A set was a tiny bit darker & I preferred it. SHINE: The BF set was too shiny and reflected some glare from a nearby window. The A&A set was much nicer to look at from all angles. PAWNS: The tops of the BF pawns are exaggerated but I couldn't decide whether it was easier to grasp & move them compared to the other set (I had read in other reviews it was) but after trying out both sets and moving the pieces, I decided the A&A pawns not only looked better (more a traditional set) but that I did not have a problem moving them. BISHOPS: When I saw the A&A bishops online I thought I wouldn't like how they appeared in person with the exaggerated slot at the top. But the BF set has an exaggerated bulb with a tiny slit. I decided I do prefer the larger slit at the top of the A&A bishop and that it is easier for my brain to tell its a bishop more quickly. QUEEN: The BF queen had sharper points on top which I didn't like and also a very pronounced and much taller round knob on top center. KING: I liked the cross on top better on the A&A set (found it visually more attractive) FELT: The felt on the BF set covered the entire bottom so that on some pieces it slightly overcovered (if not positioned perfectly) & could be seen from above while playing. The felt on the A&A set was a much smaller diameter than the bottom of the piece so it does not cover the entire piece (and therefore could not be seen even if mispositioned) DIAMETERS of bottom of pieces. When comparing the bottoms of the 2 sets back to back, the BF set had noticeably larger diameters on bottom (and therefore took up more of the spaces on the playing board) TIPPING: I tried to tip both sets and no piece in either set is easily tipped. So they are both great sets and would take a lot to tip over any piece in either brand. WINNER: I kept the A&A quadruple weighted set and returned the Bobby Fischer set. I only based my decision on the pieces themselves; I did not care about the case, bags, board, instructions, etc, because I figured I could get those from separate companies, and so the "extras" included with the A&A set did not influence my decision on which set to keep. So it is surprising to me that the set I preferred is not only 10 dollars cheaper but also includes nice storage bags & carrying case (as well as silicone board, which may not be used since I plan to get a nice wooden board and maybe even getting the mousepad-like flexible board mentioned in another review)

Good portable tournament-sized chess set
Got this with the intent to study and play with friends. It’s a good set overall, the fact that it comes with a carrying case and piece bags (both are fairly good quality) makes this a tough one to beat. The board mat is probably the worst aspect of this set, an absolute dust/pet hair magnet; even up on a table away from most of it. It also smells a little funky but I suppose that’s to be expected. Pieces are good weight and look nice, but it does feel like the felt on the bottom can come off over time. With the other options at this price point, however, I’m pretty happy with this purchase and expect it to last for a good few years with fairly regular usage!

Fantastic set with storage bags, carry case, and well-designed, high-quality pieces
Outstanding package, imo. Fine, plastic chessman with no sprue. Clean, heavily-weighted pieces with two bags for storage. Full-size silicone board, including brief instructions, and a case with handle. Should last a lifetime with heavy, constant use. List price varies online; yet, AMAZON offers this set at an unbelievable price.

High quality staunton chess set - I wish I'd upgraded to this years ago!
This is a beautiful, high quality, staunton chess set with felt bottomed, weighted pieces. I was a bit unsure about the silicone "board", but liked the idea of being able to fold it up and store it in the included case. The case is fantastic quality and the size is just right. There's room enough that the silicone mat isn't squashed, but there's no wasted space. It's quick and easy to put away & I'm totally sold on the whole thing now! Some reviewers mentioned that they had issues with wrinkles in their silicone mat. There were none in mine, but (according to Google) you can easily remove them with the right kind of heat. The individual chess pieces are the nicest I've ever used. I particularly love the detail in the knights. I've never played with weighted pieces previously, but once you've tried them, you won't ever want to go back to the old style. Included are 2 lovely, soft, suede like bags for storage of the pieces and a "rules of chess" guide. This kit really has everything you would need/want. Everyone who has seen and used the chess set since it arrived, has commented on how great it looks and feels. I think that @ $60AUD it's well priced and represents great value for such a quality set.

I love it !
I loved it at first sight, even though it is made of plastic and silicone, it feels luxurious and beautiful when you see and touch it. I was thinking of buying a product at a reasonable price and in the future I can buy expensive chess set, but I think I will keep this chess set for a long time and I do not feel that I need to buy another product. The silicone is of high quality and the pieces are very weighty and beautiful. I recommend it strongly.

Amazing chess set
pieces are truly magnificent—the size, weight and feel are essentially perfect. Additionally, the silicone board is impressively wrinkle-resistant.
