Great product which will save your walls from damage. Easy to install and is thick enough, however I do recommend pulling it off the wall a little so you have that extra thickness before it hits your drywall.

I was considering buying one of the circular ones to go just around the Dartboard a few inches and save some money. I’m so glad I didn’t and paid the extra. This gives so much more protection for my walls especially for inexperienced throwers, it is thicker and will not allow the dart to hit your wall and fits together very snug. So easy to install as well. It’s six pieces that go around the dartboard and goes together like puzzle pieces.

Took virtually no effort to install. Is very professional looking. Protects the darts from hitting our stone basement walls. Recommend.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Picked this because of its thickness and provided the extra protection below the board. Quality: it is really high quality and I feel it will last a long time. Size: i like that it has the area below the board and not just the surround. My only reason for not having a 5-star review is the pieces connect and you can see them. I wish they fit more snug so you don't see the seams.

I purchased our first dart board for the game room and needed something to protect my walls as I knew we might miss the board since we are all new to darts. This was very easy to assemble, looks great, and works perfectly to protect the walls. The darts will stick to it easily and it comes out easily as well. I did have to use the additional bumper tape to fill in a slight gap; you can’t even notice this. This was more money than I wanted to spend, but I’m glad I did it. It’s worth the money and aesthetically looks great!

I installed a new dart board recently and the first night my wife and I were playing darts I stuck a dart into the drywall. She did not miss the board all evening...I did. Anyway, the need for some protection around the dart board sent me scurrying to Amazon and doing a search. There were a number of options as to the size of the protection around the dart board. I opted for the larger and longer Viper Defender III Extended Length Dartboard Surround Wall Protector by GLD Products. This product is light weight, it is about one inch thick, and the panels fit together almost perfectly and it could not be any easier to install. It simply fits around the outside of my dartboard. No glue, no Velcro, no screws and no mounts. The Defender III wall protector simply rests on my board. I have missed my dart board a half dozen times since installing the Defender and it prevented the darts from reaching the drywall - thus no damage. The darts stick in the Defender and have not fallen to the floor. Overall, the Viper Defender III by GLD products is saving my walls from damage. Mission accomplished!!

The felt covering on the foam backboard was not glued down in several places (see pics). For the $53 this thing cost, I'm VERY disappointed in the quality!!! I am returning this one and giving them another chance to send me a better quality product. Given the (lack of) quality in what I received, there is either NO Quality Control or whoever's job it was to inspect the product before shipping to the customer didn't do their job. What I received should never have been shipped to a customer in the first place - a waste of my time to have to return / replace it. I will update this review based upon that return/replacement experience. Update: I received the "replacement" shipment quickly and it was double-boxed. The inside box was crumpled on the edges and not completely taped shut, so wasn't sure what to expect. The product shipped to replace the original order was in better condition than the originally shipped product, but still had the same problem with the felt not glued down around the edges / peeling up in several places (see the added pics). I noticed where it is being made (PRC - Peoples Republic of China), so not real surprised in the (lack of) quality control. I was having a party and needed to use it to avoid damaging the wall, so bought some gel craft glue at Hobby Lobby and used that to glue it down myself. Summary thoughts - PROS: The Shipper did a good job shipping the replacement promptly and I didn't have any issues returning the first one ordered. It was very easy to install and take down (less than 5 minutes). The backboard surround works well at stopping errant darts and they stick well into the foam (don't bounce out like plywood often does). It is a nice clean look (after I glued the felt covering down myself). CONS: For $53 (a LOT IMO for a piece of foam cut into 6 puzzle pieces and covered with felt), I was expecting MUCH better quality of fit/finish. If I had only paid $20 or so, I'd expect these kinds of issues - NOT for >$50. The quality of manufacturing and/or lack of Quality Control given the number of complaints online about the felt peeling and puzzle pieces not lining up is not very good (maybe they don't start peeling until after they leave China). Bottom-line: If I was not in a hurry (needed it quickly for a party), I would look for large pieces of foam and cut one similar myself, and/or attach it to a lightweight backboard. I like the functionality of the product and the area it covers, but I don't like the quality of product for the money spent. Hopefully, GLD Products will improve their quality controls or change manufacturers to a company capable of providing a product worthy of > $50!

Brilliant bit of kit. Protects the wall around the board better than the normal Dartboard surrounds. I have a Winmau Blade 6 PDC board which needed the extra liner for a tight fit otherwise the Defender surround moves around. I then “fixed” the Defender surround using 3M picture strips at the bottom - so this is as fixed as you can get it. I then put my original Blade 6 surround on as it gives it a really nice finish. This does sit slightly proud of the dartboard but that doesn’t bother… looks great in my opinion.

I was a little hesitant at first because of the price, but this dartboard wall protector exceeded my expectations. The quality is excellent, it's thick enough to protect the wall effectively, and the suede-like texture gives it a premium look. It looks great once installed and blends in nicely with the room. Assembly was quick and straightforward, requiring very little time or expertise. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a durable and attractive wall protector for their dartboard.
