A must have for coffee lovers
Bought on a semi-whim when purchasing the RJ3 gooseneck kettle. My partner and I were incredibly surprised at the difference in our coffee when using the temperatures highlighted on the gauge. We have been ruining our coffee all along with boiling hot water! The flavor and aroma from even grocery store brand coffee when using the suggested temperatures is noticeably smoother and less acidic. I owe an apology to the roasters of all the coffee I've ever previously purchased. I will never use a boiling tea kettle again. I promise.

Updated review, happy now.
I initially gave this kettle and thermometer one star because the kettle had a pinhole leak and the thermometer fogged. Ovalware e-mailed me saying they wanted to correct the problem and sent me a new kettle and thermometer. The new set works well. They were very helpful and I received the replacements quickly. Five stars for excellent customer service and a good quality kettle and thermometer.

Inaccurate by 23 degrees
For the money and purpose you expect accuracy. Mine is a solid 23 degrees off. Water here doesn't boil at 180 degrees! Put a candy thermometer in the water 213 degrees. Did fog pretty badly for a while but not anymore. Useable as I just stop the heat at 180 degrees - kind of annoying though.

Heats quickly had reinforced bottom - narrow spout for pour control. Good quality.
Great addition to my Love of Pour-Over coffee. Can get to that perfect 195-205 temperature range. Heats quickly has reinforced heavy bottom. Narrow spout for pour control. 👍

I like the built in thermometer on the lid
I like the built in thermometer on the lid, it means one less thing kicking around my kitchen. Works fantastic and takes the guesswork out of temperature

Not worth replacing
This cannot be calibrated at home & after a few uses is not even close to accurate. Ironically, I believe the steam damages the top. I replaced 3 times within under a year. Forget about it

Definitely worth the upgrade!
I bought this RJ3 Thermometer Lid as an upgrade for the RJ3 Pour Over Coffee Kettle that I received as a gift. This allows me to make a great cup of coffee with much more ease as it gives me very accurate temperature. Definitely worth the upgrade if you own the non-thermometer version of their kettle!

Thermometer fogged up :-(
Sadly, the thermometer fogged up after a few uses and the thermometer became unreadable.
