One of the most popular movie comedies of all time is also the film that made John Belushi a star. This raunchy, screwball comedy directed with madcap zest by John Landis offers a relentless spoof of 1960s college life by following the hilarious adventures of the Delta fraternity. In addition to Belushi as Bluto Blutarsky, the outstanding cast includes Tim Matheson, Tom Hulce, Stephen "Flounder" Furst, Karen Allen, Donald Sutherland, Peter Riegert, and Kevin Bacon, along with Otis Day and the Knights with their show-stopping performance of 'Shout.' Review: A Classic ! - I bought this as a gift fir a friend. Review: People, PLEASE don't confuse this 30th Anniversary Special Edition with the awful Double Secret Probation Edition! - I was taken aback at how sloppy desertcart is by somehow getting this 30th Anniversary Special Edition DVD of this movie mixed up with the horrible Double Secret Probation Edition version. That was a major mistake, since the 30th Anniversary Special Edition features: 1) NO, and I repeat NO forced ads or even previews for other movies at the beginning. It only features a quick 15-20 second Universal Studios splash, then straight to the menu screen. 2) A second DVD featuring a nice little documentary about the making of the movie, featuring all the main cast members, save (of course) the late and very great John Belushi (gone, but not forgotten) explaining nearly any aspect about what led up to the production, filming, and even how the actors in the Delta House and the Omegas actually WERE separated to inculcate some real rivalry that would translate well to the screen. You also get the theatrical trailer and a fun little Scene It (R) quiz about the movie. 3) The movie itself in glorious full 16x9 widescreen format, with excellent image quality and sound. 4) The first DVD also features an amusing little mockumentary about "Where are they now?" featuring most of the actors, including John "Dean Wormer" Vernon (RIP now, sadly) playing along to what had happened 30 years after the Deltas destroyed the parade. 5) Even the case is slightly better than most DVD cases, featuring the two small latches that prevent it from accidentally popping open. About the movie itself, I need not comment for anyone who has already seen this, one of the funniest movies ever made. For the rest of you, I suggest you not rent, but instead BUY, and buy this edition of the DVD. Trust me, every so often, you will want to watch it over, by yourself or with friends. As Belushi says after destroying the guitar from "Charming Guy with Guitar," if you don't, you'll be "sorry!"

"I'm a zit...get it?!"
The Good Things *Has good clean video quality and pretty good sound quality. *Includes some neat special features; a trivia game, a "Where are they now?" featurette (both on disc one), a new 98 minute making-of documentary, and the older 45 minute documentary (both on disc two). *This gift set also includes a neat yearbook-style booklet and a huge glossy box. The box is actually a little too big for the movie and the booklet, but die-hard fans will get a kick out of it. I intend to use the extra space in the box for the Blu-Ray whenever it comes out. *The movie itself is a classic comedy, filled with great funny dialogue and funny situations. *The storyline is simple but fun. *Characters are smashing, and well-acted; it is a great cast. Writing is great. *Soundtrack includes some good classy oldies. The Bad Things *Not for kids; contains swearing and sex. The Questionable Things *Some antics may be seen as immature; could be good or bad. Some people might even get a nostalgic kick out of it. This movie is one of the most essential comedies ever made. The dialogue is completely hilarious. The characters are not only funny, but well-acted and great to watch. There are a lot of funny memorable moments. As a movie about frat boys, it can be a bit immature, but is not as bad as modern comedies of this type. Highly reccomended to anybody looking for a good laugh.

National Lampoon’s Animal House movie
A slap stick movie starring John Belushi depicting a university’s misfit fraternities actions. If you like 70’s slap stick comedy you will love this movie.

30th Anniversary / Great Extras
Animal House is a rather well known movie , and deservedly so ; it's great fun , now becoming great nostalgia of a bygone age . My addition to the info on it would be the fact that the 30th Anniversary Edition contains even more fun , in that it contains 2 discs , with extras that provide great insight that make the movie more enjoyable. At the end of the movie there are subtitles indicating what became of the characters in later life. One extra is an elaboration on that theme. For instance at the end of the movie it is indicated that John Belushis' character goes on to become a Senator ; in the fictional extra he has gone beyond that to become President. Other characters are expanded on in a similar manner. The other extra is even more enjoyable in that it contains interviews with all the stars and producers / writers / director about the hi-jinks that comprised the production of the movie. It is obvious that they enjoyed the making of the movie even more than those of us that view it. Also included is an interactive Triva Challenge.
