The Best Amp I own
This is the best amp I have owned. It sounds glorious and looks beautiful. I don't use the app much but it allows a lot of tone tweaking. Downloading a large number of tones is a big plus. I have an old VOX DA5 which has no app and sounds anemic in large spaces but sounds very good in small spaces. I also have a Spark 2 which is very good and has many decent tones, especially with AI engine, but doesn't come even close to THR30ii. While this one is almost twice the price of Spark 2, I would recommend it over spark 2 any day. What THR cannot easily do that Spark 2 can is to create tones by just telling it - "give me a Ken Burrell tone from Midnight blue" gives something that is close enough. And despite not having an AI capability like Spark 2 has, I prefer this amp for its tone and sound. The feature I have used is to download tones (I think there are 40 or so tones) and save them on the amp. Those tones are all better sounding than Spark 2 tones. Also, the bluetooth audio capability in this is far superior to Spark 2 which sometimes distorts sound. I suspect that as I use Spark 2 in a big city where airwaves might be saturated with wifi and bluetooth signals I have experienced some connection issues on Spark 2. I use THR30ii in a place where there is zero bluetooth and wifi density and that is why I have never experienced any connection problems. Overall, I would highly recommend this amp.

Everything I needed in an amp.
I've gotten to the point in life to where ease factors into my guitar playing time. Before I'd have to drag out my huge tube amp, the various pedals, plug everything in and by the time I do this I just didn't have the time or heart to play. So I went on the hunt for something as easy as possible to use and it sound good. The Yamaha THR II 30 exceeded my expectations in every way possible. It takes me 5 seconds to turn this on and get great tone, the fact it's battery powered means I can go where my family is not. The wireless dongle you buy separately makes the unit completely wireless and is worth the 100 dollars. Then there is the tone, this thing sounds incredible and is very easy to tweak. I don't even need to use my Firehawk pedal anymore. Buying this has lead me to play guitar more because if I have 5 minutes, I can play still. Vs. before where it would take 30 minutes just to set up.If you're considering buying this, don't. It's worth it.

Great box
Sounds great. Lots of options. Cost a bit but worth it. Easy to move around too.

A daily driver, for me...
Yamaha THR30!I upgraded to the THR30 III (from the previous model THR10x high gain version, that I used almost daily for over 8yrs) mainly because of the built in wireless capability. But this amp is heads and shoulders above every other competitive solution in this same market space. Here is what differentiates this one from the competitors in this space, as the tone with the others is good as well but… with the Yamaha, the tone is fantastic because they’ve done component level modeling to build out their amps, which means you get incredibly accurate modeling. The effects just sweeten the tone that much more. The cabinet models are also very good and broaden the tone options. Then, when you add the wireless capability for both streaming via Bluetooth and then using the Line 6 G10t for wireless guitar with it, just leaves all the others in the dust! The new app!The Yamaha app looks just like the knobs on the top of the amp for the interface. It allows you to adjust it in real time to tweak, then if you want to save it - you can save it to one of the three banks of five patches. Very simple and straightforward to use.Bluetooth! This allows you to stream from your mobile device for either playing along, or just streaming music in stereo. This works amazingly well so you can adjust the volume’s and sound like you’re part of the mix.Wireless guitar!I also bought the Line 6 G10t (optional $99) I can leave the transmitter plugged in to the quarter inch jack as it charges the transmitter while it’s plugged in so it’s always ready to go, and gives me eight hours of playtime.Rechargeable, built in batteries!I can just pick up my guitar, the amp and walk out onto my deck - stream music from my iPad and start jamming.Bass or guitar!I use it for both bass and for guitar and the bass modeling sounds amazing. The bass models sound particularly well, over the previous version of the THR (no bass specific modeling on the old version as it was for guitar). These models are super well-balanced and have a deep rich bass tone. I have saved patches for both bass guitar and for regular six string guitar that I use frequently, actually daily.Recording interface via USB!Okay here’s where this device really shines… I plug this directly in via USB to my iPad Pro 11 inch and record directly into garage band. This is absolutely the easiest USB guitar interface that I’ve ever used. I do have a line 6 sonic port and an IK iRig pro I/O as well but I’ve always found both of them to be a hassle to get them working with my iPad consistently every time. When inspiration hits, I always ended up screwing around with the technology versus using the tools before I can actually record with those other interfaces. With the Yamaha, when inspiration hits, I just plug in the wireless and then USB to the iPad and start recording! The incoming tone from the Yamaha sounds amazing! I use this as a writing tool to capture scratch track ideas quickly into Garage Band and then share the GB project with other musicians so they can record directly into their iPads to add to the song. The Yamaha makes this process easy, effortless, consistent to use every time.1/4” output on the back!it also has quarter inch outputs on the back for left and right channels if you want to record directly into your mixing board or other analog interface.I use this amp daily for practice and for writing recording, it is second to none and a crucial part of my gear.

Wireless amp!
Good sounding amp. The main highlight is the portability and flexibility. I love my Vox AC15 hand wired amp tone, but hauling it out of my house is a hassle. So I never do it. Comes the THR30II. Will it ever compare in tone? No, ever. But the battery power and wireless transmitter makes my electric guitar have the same portability as an Acoustic guitar and that is HUGE!!! Now I can enjoy play so much more in so many more occasions. Makes playing the guitar simple!

I love this amp!
This is the perfect little home practice amp, especially if you get the wireless bug for your guitar. I normally jam in the living room, but if someone is watching TV when I get the urge to rock out, I just grab my amp & guitar and go somewhere else. No cords to mess with and need to have a power outlet available. Using the phone app you get more control of some tone shaping aspects of the amp that you can't do with the knobs, so that is helpful. And, I love that you can Bluetooth sound from your phone to the amp. I've always been a rhythm player, but since I got this amp I've been having lots of fun practicing guitar solos by sending YouTube backing tracks to the amp and playing along with them. It is a bit expensive, considering that for the same money, you could buy a big, powerfull amp that you could play gigs with, but as convenient as this little amp is, I dont have a single regret about spending the money to buy it, and if I were ever so inclined, the line-outs on it could be used to plug into something big enough for a gig setting.

Amazing!! Absolutely amazing for something the size of a small 80’s boom box. I wish I could’ve bought it years ago!

Best amp ever? No, but fantastic amp.
You're going to want to use the (free) Yamaha THR app with this amp. It's crazy good. The cabinet emulation combined with the built-in tones and effects is incredible. Not great with pedals but that was never really the point of this amp. Great clear tones with guitar and bass, I don't have an acoustic-electric to run through it so I have not tested that particular set of tones. With a full charge I got it to run for about 6 hours unplugged. So, here's why I think this amp is super great:1) The ability to really fine-tune the presets with the app is tremendous. A lot of flexibility built-in.2) I don't need to buy an extra bass amp? Dope. (the effects built into the amp also work on the bass tone so that's a bonus too)3) Minor adjustments to various aspects of your tone can be heard clearly at low volume. As a practice amp in the house (or apartment or whatever) you can actually hear how the tone changes without blasting folks out of the next room.4) Bluetooth connectivity is a bonus. Play along, use it as a speaker, whatever.5) It's small, if you care about that sort of thing.

Impressive Desktop Guitar Amp! It is NOT the Acoustic model as stated.
Note: Amazon is listing this version of the Yamaha THR30II Wireless as an Acoustic Amp. It is NOT. The black model is the Electric guitar version. Amazon / Yamaha should correct this. The Acoustic version is a brown colored model.Fact: Yamaha has annihilated the competition with the THR30II Wireless Desktop Amp. The guitar sound this thing produces is remarkable and has far surpassed my expectations of what an amp this size is capable of producing. If you don’t require a larger amp for concert performance, Yamaha’s latest desktop may be all you need. But even if you wanted to use it on stage, simply connect the THR30II Wireless to a house system or another amp using the 1/4 inch stereo outs on the back of the unit.As a longtime pro guitar player I admit I’m getting tired of heavy amps and a suitcase of cords and pedals. Perhaps that’s just one of the reasons I find the 30 watt desktop THR30II Wireless so refreshing. Yamaha has produced a powerful desktop system with a realistic tube tone that sounds so good, it makes me want to play longer, and even at my age, that continues to make me a better player. There are 8 variations.. clean, crunch, lead, hi gain, special, bass, acoustic and flat. Each with 3 variations.. modern, boutique and classic. The acoustic and flat settings are perfect for acoustics and the bass, middle and treble controls actually work, providing excellent EQ control.Whether playing or recording at home, in a studio, or busking on the corner, the THR30II Wireless is incredible. With the built in rechargeable battery you’ll be able to play for 4-5 hours. The craftsmanship is impressive. Built like a tank and impeccably manufactured. Even the headphone amp, where most manufacturers tend to cheap out, is one of the best I’ve heard. It’s as good as the THR30’s custom twin speakers. The THR30II has an aux-in as well. Though with Bluetooth providing the capability of playing along with music from your smart device, you may never use the aux-in function. Of course the THR30II Wireless Desktop Amp can also be used as an everyday Bluetooth speaker.Yamaha has been making a version of this desktop amp for well over a decade, but only now with wireless and Bluetooth (and slightly larger speakers on the THR30II), has it really come of age. I’m glad I waited too, as the stunning new black model wasn’t available until recently. Then there’s that warm tube-like orange glow behind the amp grill. Nice! (Especially noticeable on the black model.)The built in effects include all the pro processing Yamaha is known for, and if you connect your smart device and use the free downloadable Yamaha THR Remote app, you’ll have a dozen additional settings like multiple cabs, reverbs, delays, a noise gate and adjustable compression. All THR30II settings, including a separate Bluetooth audio channel, are controllable via the THR Remote app.But you ask, how does it sound? To me, the true test of any amp is how it sounds at lower to mid volume. With stage amps you need to drive the wattage to obtain the sound you may be looking for. With the THR30II, Yamaha’s engineers and sound techs obviously spent major time coming up with a way to deliver that warm tube sound at living room level. It’s one of the THR30II’s top features.Dial in a setting and save it to one of 5 available presets. ( I saved 4 for electric and 1 for acoustic.) Plug in a Line 6 Relay G10 and play wirelessly from 50’ away. The guitar jack automatically charges the Relay G10 when plugged in. Or use any $50 set of wireless TX and RX plugs.Of all the equipment I’ve purchased over the last 30 years, the THR30II Wireless desktop amp (Black) is one of the most amazing pieces of gear I’ve owned. It’s built like a Rolls Royce, is stunning in appearance, is 100% portable, and the quality of sound it produces defies its diminutive size. There is also a Tap Tempo feature and built in tuner.I can’t stop playing my guitar through it, finding the sound it produces extremely addictive. So there you have it. Now go and get one.** A special thanks to Musique Gagné in Quebec City for their professional and friendly assistance in getting the THR30II to me. They were quick to respond to emails, highly informative on the product, enabled my specific delivery request and were always courteous. I look forward to dealing with them many times. **

Amazing little amp!
This amp is everything I wanted and more! After seeing this amp in music stores over the years I always thought it looked cool, But assumed it was an amp head. After watching many reviews on YouTube I discovered it was a beast little practice combo amp. Now I have many big tube amplifiers at home to choose from, but the idea of setting them up in the basement to jam all the time kind of kills my motivation and feeling comfortable. First time I turned this little beast on I was blown away buy the fullness and low end. It gives you a HUGE sound for such a little giant. It produces just the right amount of edgy distortion for my soloing, And in awe cleans with reverb and all the other basic effects you'd need! So many features packed in such a small package. I ordered the wireless Line 6 G10 transmitter, and a Yamaha carrying bag/case for it and now it's the complete package! Can't reccomend this fun little amp enough as far as looks, sound and versatility go! Never tired a Spark amp, But Im glad I went for this instead! Oh and playing backing tracks through it with bluetooth balancing the audio and guitar works perfect, if you have no other speakers near by. Like I said it's the whole package for a beginner or even somebody who's been jamming for years. It does everything you'd want it to, and its convenient. The seller was top notch, arrived fast within the same week of ordering! Cheers
