Thursday Boot Company Men's President Ankle Boot

This is going to be a fun review for me. It’s been a journey for me to find a comfortable boot that’s stylish, durable, and won’t bust the budget. Thursday Boot Co. delivers. I now own 3 pairs of their boots and I love every one of them. But, like I said, it’s been a journey that I’m hoping you’ll learn from. First, the boots run small. Thursday Boot Co. (TBC hereafter) is giving its customers good advice when they say to order a ½ size smaller than their normal boot/sneaker size. However, I found the advice needs more nuance and it also depends on how you want to wear the boot…and which types of socks you plan on wearing with the boot. I have a Captain Stormking (Tobacco) in a Size 8 ½ and 2 President pairs (Anejo & Mocha) in a Size 8. It’s all because of how I wear the boots and what socks I’ll use. For my Captain Stormking pair, I wanted those are for harsh weather and hiking, so I wear my thicker Merrell or Ariat boot socks with those. I wear my President boots for dress casual and casual wear and I use the 3 pairs of TBC Classic boot socks with my Presidents. I found that my thicker socks fit very well in a TBC Captain Size 8 ½, while my thinner boot socks fit equally well in my 2 President Size 8 boots. The most important part of this whole exercise was to keep my feet from loosely flipping forward and backward when I walked. Now, each size fits like a glove. The weight of the boot feels balanced and doesn't give me any measure of fatigue when wearing them. I've worn my Captain Stormkings in heavy rainfalls (recommend you weatherproof any of your TBC boots with their Cobbler's Choice spray first) and my President Mocha on day-long airline travel days. Both pairs are truly comfortable and foot support was clearly designed in each boot model. At a glance, the differences between Size 8 ½ and Size 8 don’t look all that much…if you can even spot a difference on most days. See my pics and decide for yourself. In Pic 1, the Size 8 ½ President (Black Coffee) boot is on the left, while the Size 8 President (Anejo) boot is on the right. In Pic 2, the Size 8 ½ Captain Stormking (Tobacco) boot is on the right. In Pic 3, you can see the size difference better with a profile view between the Size 8 ½ President (Black Coffee) on the left and the Size 8 President (Anejo) on the right. You WILL feel the difference when you put the boots on, though. So, my advice is to not only size it down from your normal boot/shoe size, but also consider which socks you’re planning on wearing with them. And finally, for context on how I fit into my other shoes, I wear a Size 9 in my Merrell Moab 3 hiking boots, Lucchese Mad Dog Leather Roper boots, Adidas Ultraboost 5.0 DNA sneakers, and Rothy’s RS01 sneakers; a Size 9 ½ with my Brooks Ghost running sneakers; and a Size 8 ½ in my Johnston & Murphy Italian Calfskin Chelsea Boots. If you wear shoes and sizes similar to me, it’s a good bet that my advice on which TBC boot sizes to buy will help you out.

I love this boot. Mexico always excels in leather making. Taking awhile to break in but good leather always does. The description says order a size SMALLER than your sneaker size but I don’t take advice well and went with my gut; I ordered the EXACT same size as my normal shoe and they fit perfect. They also have 1/2 sizes and WIDE which a quality maker will provide for a good fit. This is a very good quality boot and they look and feel great. The soles stick well on my gravel drive and I’m thinking they could do well on the barn dance floor if there’s plenty of sawdust down. I just need an invitation.. but not holding my breath.🙃

Got a pair in Brown over a month ago. I really like them and I get compliments on them more often than with any other shoes I have owned before, even random people on the street. However, they are not perfect. Honest thoughts: -The look: great, a bit dressier than your regular captoe. Clean lines, and sharp. I think that is what make people like them and offer compliments on them. From a random lady in the elevator the other day: "I wasn't gonna say anything, but man, those are some really nice looking boots". Conversation starter right there. -The fit: I usually wear 9.5 in sneakers and ordered a pair in size 9, following the company's advice. They fit well lengthwise, but the right boot feels narrower than the left, making the it a bit uncomfortable. I am hoping this will go away once the boot breaks in. No space for extra insoles in this case, if you want extra insoles, or thicker insoles, order your regular size. -The confort: they are rather stiff. Again, I am hoping this goes away once the boot break in. Other people say they feel like sneakers, but I don't think they feel remotely like that, at least not yet. -The weight: they are heavy. Get ready for a different sensation when you wear them, if you are coming from lightweight shoes. -The color: it looks more like burgundy in some lights, which is great, I think that gives the boots some character. If they scratch, that will reveal the underlying color, which I believe is the natural leather color, so it will contrast. -Some people complaint about creases, but my pair is doing ok for now. I don't have shoes trees, but I do avoid stepping on them. -The laces: they are stiff, I may change them at some point.

This review will immediately tell you these shoes (boots) are quality. If I bought two pairs, that means the first pair are immaculate. I bought a pair of brown president and a black pair of captains. They are all leather, except the heel and sole, witch are high quality and goes perfectly with the shoe itself. This is the type of shoe that I had as a child, all leather. A very significant thing is, all the inside of the shoe is lined with a glove soft high quality leather. I mean ALL the inside. I am still breaking them in. However, these shoes were not hurtful on your feet right out of the box. I have had them for a week or so and they are becoming more comfortable every day. 200 dollars a pair for shoes are very expensive for me. This is the most that I have ever paid for a pair of shoes. However, after I bought the shoes I have discovered that they're worth every penny. They are described to the exact and are pictured to the exact, on the seller's page. The materials and craftsmanship are of the highest quality. I'm advising you for all fact: the sizing of the shoes run BIG. Maybe I haven't had a real pair of shoes in such a long while, the high quality shoes are a true size compared to a cheap shoe made of manmade materials in China. They are 1 size to 1 and 1/2 size larger than what you normally use. If you use a size 9, order a 7 and 1/2. Once you get the size right, I truly don't believe that you could buy a better made shoe at any price. I hope that I have helped you to get an understanding of what these shoes are like. I can honestly tell you that, I have found NO fault with these shoes in any aspect...

Not sure why a lot of people are saying you need a half size down. These people might aspire to uve bigger feet and dont wear their true to size. I initially bought a half size down and these boots were too tight. I bought my regular size in all footwear which is size 9 and these boots fit perfectly. Im not going to go on a oong review since theres plenty of reviews for this name brand on youtube. Needless to say that the quality is up there and is much higher than the usual boots i always bought my entire life. Those boot were from timberland. The difference in quality is verg noticable. Timberland does make a more expensive line of boots but the sole is tiny. I wore these boots out and they are comfortable and easy to style with basically anything. This boot is easily doable for watching a football game at bar with friends or a date night with your girl. If your a short guy these are the only boots that will make you grow a couple of inches without the boot looking Femenine. I highly recommend and will be getting another pair in a different style and color.

I wanted a pair of suede Chelseas, watched lots of YouTube videos, read lots of posts, and settled on a pair of Dukes by Thursday Boots. Sadly, I've got a narrow foot (B width) & they just wouldn't work though I tried three different sizes & thought about using tongue pads. Having seen the quality of Thursday Boots firsthand, I decided a lacer might work for me. I settled on the President with the plain toe rather than the Captain with the cap toe because I liked the look. And the Mocha Weather Safe Suede on this pair has a great look and feel right out of the box. And being a lace up boot they fit my narrow foot well with very little heel slip even brand new. Can't wait until I get them broke in to experience them being even more comfortable. Thursday Boots are legit. I'll be buying more.

Good looking boot but the most uncomfortable boot I have ever purchased. Extremely stiff and zero cushion. I understand there is a break in period but already getting blisters on the second day on my heal from rubbing on the hard interior. For $200 I expect a lot better.

I'd been researching for a very sturdy dress-casual boot, genuine leather, something that could be worn with anything, from a suit and tie, to hiking a trail, and something that was comfortable enough to wear all day (which can be difficult to find in a dress boot or shoe). I was also looking for something that didn't cost $500. I wanted a medium-height plain (oxford) style (no brogues), and I wanted laces for a more secure fit. Only one boot seemed to match all those details and not have bad reviews: The Thursday President. It was a bit more than I was hoping to spend, but I decided to go for it. I ordered a 9.5, as that is the size that I wear in my Wolverine work boots. The boots arrived, but there was a manufacturing defect in the insole, where the heel section transitions to the toe section: a noticeable "hump" running across where my arch would sit. I contacted the Thursday Boot Company to see if the boots were supposed to be like this, if maybe they just needed to "break in." The representative was quick to tell me that this was a manufacturing defect. He had me return the boots at no cost to me, and shipped me a replacement pair as soon as I dropped the 1st pair off with UPS. The 2nd pair arrived, and were flawless. The fit was good. These boots do take a while to break in to become truly comfortable, but have faith and keep wearing them around, and eventually it will happen! With my boots, I think it took about a week of moderate off-and-on wear. Only time will tell as to the durability of the boots, but they do seem very sturdy. I will attempt to remember to update my review in the future, as long-term durability is more rigorously tested.

I wear: Timberland work boots size 8.5 Nikes size 9.5 Other leather boots 9 Florsheim dress shoes 9 I ordered an 8.5 US based on other reviews. This was a good call. The 8.5 fits nicely. I think could get away with an 8 for a more snug fit along the sides of the boot (I’m narrow-footed) and to hug the toes a bit more. But I’m happy regardless. The leather is pretty high-quality and I like the interior texture. Super comfy. I thought they would need more breaking in, but they’re already shaped nicely and are very comfortable. They look great, smell great and feel great. Totally worth the price. I love wearing them!

Let me start off by saying these boots are amazing. The quality is superior, especially for the price point. Some poor made boots can be sold for around $150-200, which would fall apart within a year. I originally ordered size 11 off Amazon, but unfortunately they were a bit too big with them slipping up each step. I returned them (completely hassle free and free of charge) and ordered a size 10.5. This sizing seemed to fit better in terms of length but unfortunately the width was far too narrow. I tried to wear them in around the house for an hour or two but had extreme pain. Unfortunately, I have asian/wide feet and was able to notice the shoe width. I returned these to Amazon, free of charge and hassle free. I ordered 10.5 wide (EE/EEE) directly from Thursday Boot Co and wow. Perfect fit! They fit perfectly straight out the box and I just knew the wait and multiple returns was worth it. If anything the boot is a smidgen too wide but i'd much rather this than foot pain etc. Moral of the story. I am very glad I ordered these boots. I was a little worried about some folks saying they ordered a size smaller than their normal size. Then I saw a recommendation on Thursday's site to order the same size as you wear in leather dress shoes. I did this which also corresponds to my normal shoe/boot size and they're a good fit. Even before I opened the Amazon packaging I could tell these boots were quality the moment I picked the package up from the porch. The package was hefty. These are well made boots and they look the part. I was considering treating the leather before I wore them for the first time but checked on Thursday's site for care instructions. It's a good thing I did as they do not recommend any treatment for the Rough and Resilient range of leathers which the Tobacco boots are. I did a 2Km walk in them today to start the break in. They are very supportive in the midsole and have good grip/traction. Understandably because they are new they're somewhat stiff but not overly so and I can tell it will not take too long to break in. I feel these will be a very comfortable boot once they're fully broke in. While I cannot speak to durability yet I feel they will last for years and years based on how they're made and of course taking care of them. Overall I am extremely pleased with these boots.
