iSpring WSP-50 Spin Down Sediment Filter, Whole House Prefilter, 50 Micron

I recently installed the iSpring WSP-50 spin-down sediment filter as part of my whole-house water treatment system, and it has performed exactly as I had hoped. In my setup, the WSP-50 is installed between a whole-house carbon filter and my water softener. Its primary purpose is to capture any carbon fines that may be released from the carbon media tank before they can enter and potentially damage or foul the water softener. The filter is well-built, easy to service, and provides a simple visual inspection of what is being captured. I particularly appreciate the flush valve feature, which makes routine maintenance quick and convenient without having to disassemble the unit. I also want to recognize Nick at iSpring customer support. He was extremely helpful in verifying the correct replacement screen element for my specific filter model. He responded promptly, answered my questions clearly, and made sure I ordered the proper part with confidence. Excellent customer service like that is becoming increasingly rare and is greatly appreciated. Overall, the iSpring WSP-50 has been a valuable addition to my water treatment system, providing an extra layer of protection for my water softener while giving me peace of mind that any carbon fines or larger sediment particles are being intercepted before they can cause problems downstream. Highly recommended.

Easy install and easy to clear out.

This is a great filter! It is durable and super easy to clean, plus the bottom clean-out valve has also been handy for bleeding down the system when we need to work on other plumbing (an unexpected bonus). You do need to put some thought into your water conditions before selecting a filtration size though, or you can run into trouble as we did initially. I-Spring technical support helped us work through our issues (Thanks Sean!), but a picture of our filtration set-up and a brief description of the water situation are included below in case you want to learn from our mistakes (prior to making your own original ones :-). Our well water is high in iron, so we needed to install an iron filter [big black tank] to protect the plumbing and hot water heater. The very expensive iron filter required a minimum of 30 micron sediment filtration on water going in (or warranty void and {very expensive} filter life could go from 3+ years to a few months). Our well is screened in a fine sand, and tends to produce more than we would like. So we installed a high volume sediment filter [blue] with the disposable paper filters (5 – 30 microns) that have to be replaced periodically. Those paper filters, like everything now days, cost more than you would like. The better the water coming in, the longer they last, so we installed the I-spring spin-down filter [far right] to help stretch the life of those paper filters. We went with the 50 micron filter, thinking that would maximize the life on the disposable filters. Turns out that was a bad choice. Our well produced 10 gpm at the pump when it was installed last summer, but when we turned on the house system (all new construction) two months later, we were getting much less. We were afraid the well capacity had diminished due to the drought this summer, but testing with the pump and pressure tank showed it was making significantly more than what we were getting at the house. It turned out that the problem was that 50 micron spin-down filter. The amount of sand coming from our well was too much for that fine of filter, so the system lost a lot of water pressure forcing it though. After consulting with I-spring, we are now running a 200 micron mesh in the spin-down filter. It is still doing the job of removing most of the sand, but we are getting double the flow. Moral of the story, be sure to select the right size filter for your water conditions. If you aren’t sure, buy a couple of different sizes and test them out. We have mesh screens for 50, 100 and 200 microns now, and they all work in the same unit case.

I purchased the WSP-50 as a pre-filter for my new iSpring WGB21B whole house water filter system with their 5 micron filters, hoping to extend their life. I attached the output of the WSP directly to the WGB21B. Please note it's a tight fit against the filter housing and the threads didn’t bottom out, so I recommend you tape the fitting properly. I used 5 turns of a basic Teflon tape, and I suspect 6 or 7 turns, or a thicker tape would have been better. The input end of the WSP is attached with a 1" FNPT to a 1" SharkBite PEX adapter. Our well has some stone grit in the water, and apparently a little silt. While the 50 micro filter that was shipped was great at filtering the grit, it quickly (3 days) became stopped up by the silt, causing a noticeable reduction in water pressure inside our home. Using the spin down feature of the WSP filter cleared the grit, but not the silt that coated the filter. The 50 micron filter isn’t going to work for us. I contacted iSpring through their website to discuss options. A knowledgeable representative (Nick) responded quickly and we discussed my issue over the phone. He agreed the 50 micron was likely too small and offered to send me both a 100 and a 200 micron filter at no charge. I installed the 200 first, but it wasn't catching much grit after a week. I then installed the 100. The 100 is catching more grit and doesn't appear to be having an issue with the silt like the 50. I suspect the silt is able to pass through the 100 and 200, and the 5 micron filters in the WGB21B are catching it. For our well, the 50 is too small due to being clogged by the silt, the 200 is too large and allowing too much grit to pass, but the 100 is a decent compromise. I'll likely have to give it a quick spin-down every week or so. I would have given 5 stars if the WSP was a taller filter (like 8” or 10”) and therefore would likely require less maintenance. I do give iSpring Support, specifically Nick, 5 stars for excellent customer service.

I don’t write too many reviews, but felt like I had to for this product. I have a well water system and needed a spin-down filter to replace an old one that was no longer working properly. I purchased this product in 2023 and also purchased a spare filter so that I could replace the filter instantly and take my time cleaning the used filter, swapping them out each time. It has worked very well. The frequency of changing these filters out has been shortening over time as my well is aging (28 years old), going from monthly, to weekly, and lately twice a week. The one issue I’ve had is the o-ring on one of the filters itself is thin and wore out over time and broke. I couldn’t find the size o-ring I needed on Amazon, so I emailed iSpring customer service. Matt contacted me back and I relayed the issue with pictures. iSpring didn’t have an o-ring replacement available, so Matt sent me a replacement filter at no cost. I am so pleased with iSpring’s customer service that I plan to purchase their much larger sediment filter in the near future. I’m just waiting for it to go on sale or to a lower price. Using this on a rainwater collection system between the tanks and the RV 12v pump. Works wonderful, no issues and is nice and easy to clean when sediments build up. The valve is nice but it is also real easy to unscrew the shroud and clean the stainless screen itself.

Let me start off by saying I very rarely leave product reviews. I spent a lot of time researching water systems for my home. I ultimately came across iSpring products. I reached out to them back in November and provided a water analysis report I had conducted on my well water. They suggested the WGB32B-MKS based on the findings of that report. I ultimately selected this product and paired it with their pre-sediment spin down filter (WSP50). During install, I messed up and forget which filter was which (stage 2, stage 3). The stage 2 and 3 filters are identical in shape and color. There are no markings on the filter displaying what they filter, or a model number (That is one suggestion I do have.) I called iSpring's customer support and they quickly gave me a solution. The stage 3 filter weighs more. I was able to quickly identify the filter and fixed my issue. I cannot remember who I spoke with but they were VERY helpful. I installed the product in February, 2026. Within 3 weeks, I started having water pressure issues in my home. A faucet would slow to a trickle when I flushed a toilet or opened another faucet. I called iSpring again and spoke to Nick. He quickly was able to identify the issue. My spin down filter was completely clogged. I investigated stage 1 (sediment) filter and noticed this same level of debris in the filter. This is a not a iSpring product issue but a well water source issue. My water supply has a lot of clay/mud/iron, debris essentially. Nick spent over 45 minutes on the phone with me to help me come up with a plan of action. Currently the WSP50 spin down pre filter is a 50 micron system. The sediment filter on WGB32B-MKS is 5 micron. Based on his recommendation, I am installing a iSpring HB28B which is another single 20x4.5 housing. I am pairing it with an additional sediment filter. This time I am going 20 micron (iSpring FP25BX2) Nick quickly dispatched a new set of filters for my WGB32B-MKS 3 stage system which I highly appreciated. This support alone makes me HIGHLY recommend iSpring for your water filtration system. Finding good customer support (iSpring is U.S based) is extremely difficult today.

I live in an area with extremely hard water so when I bought a new house with no water filtering system I knew I had to do some research and get something set up. A lot of positive reviews pointed me towards running iSpring spin-down filters as a prefilter and then using a whole house filter. With this setup the spin-down filters collect the larger debris and keep the main (and expensive) whole house filter from getting quickly clogged up. I originally went with a 200 micron and then 50 micron spin-down filter setup. The water is so bad that the 50 micron filter gets clogged up around every week and I notice a significant drop in water pressure until I clean the debris out. The design makes this very simple, although I tend to usually just remove the filter housing and wipe off the mesh screen instead of just blowing the debris out of the drain on the bottom. I reached out to iSpring to explain that I was having to clean out the spin-down filters every week and Julius said that I probably have a lot of media between the sizes of my 200 and 50 micron filter which is causing my finer mesh to clog up quickly. He sent me a 100 micron filter free of charge and now I am going longer between cleanouts. The whole experience has been very positive and the spin-down filters do a great job of filtering out the larger debris to keep my expensive whole house filter from getting clogged up. Highly recommend!!

Works well. Filters mesh was to small for my bore as it is very silty and dirty water. Contacted support and replacement filter being sent with larger mesh. No issues or hassles in getting replacement filter. Would recommend product
