Ignore any early single beeps
This works perfectly. Ignore any early single beeps. Mine beeped a single beep twice today before it played the right tune. Be sure to store the timer with the eggs for at least an hour. Overnight is better. Have a vessel of iced water ready. When the egg beeps the right melody scoop them quickly out with a large slotted scooper and "quench" them in the iced water. I peel the eggs carefully (older eggs peel more easily). I place the peeled eggs back in the previously boiling water just long enough to be able to serve them warm (see below). My wife is a stickler for soft boiled eggs whose yolks are fully liquid. Her comment when I served her soft boiled eggs on toasted buttered English Muffins was "That was delicious." I have since, started to add the previously boiling water to the ice water to bring it up to a comfortably hot to the touch after quenching. This eliminates guess work as to re-warming time. Egg yolk starts to thicken at 149 F which is very uncomfortably hot to the touch. I have gotten excellent results with extra large eggs. This timer assumes that you are going to IMMEDIATELY quench the egg. If there is a delay, the egg will keep cooking.

Not much to say because this timer works flawlessly. Just remember to store it next to your eggs.

I like it but wish the songs were louder. I bought It for my elderly mom and she can only hear it if she is right by stove.
