What is the country of origin?

Responding as the manufacturer to clarify Country of Origin. The keyboard is manufactured in China. The MX switches used on the keyboard are manufactured in Germany.

In the event I'm not crazy about the low profile keys...are they still the same as other cherry keys? Will they accept standard cherry style keycaps?

Because of the layout of this keyboard and the spacing of the switches this keyboard will only accept low profile key caps. Owning this keyboard I can say that it is not only a work of art but a joy to type on as well.

Can the switches be swapped out?

Unfortunately the switches are soldered to the PCB.

are there indicator lights for caps lock, numlock, etc?

Those keys change color when in the locked position.
