Fun for 8 year olds and teens.
I LOVE this game! It is so much fun! We bought this game for my eight year old son after he played at a friends house, thinking it would make a good Christmas gift. It has been an amazing gift! My son loves challenging his cousins, and friends to games and even us. It’s kind of a mix of strategy between chess and risk.My teenage nephew came over and I pulled it out, and he got into the game too. We had the best time trying to deceive each other on where our spy was, or where our bombs were hidden. It’s a great game!

We really love this game and have been playing it a lot
We really love this game and have been playing it a lot. It's like a cross between battleship and the card game war but much more fun to play with the kids than those other games. My kids can be heard cheering or yelling 'Aw Man!' in equal measure. There are no arguments or fighting with this one and they spend a lot of time setting up their boards and really put a lot of thought into where they want their pieces to go.The pieces do not come with the icons on them, they are little stickers that you have to add on yourself, but they are really easy to place and the one time I didn't line it up correctly I was able to peel off the sticker and put in on the right way without ripping the sticker. So it's really easy to 'put together' the first time.

I love this game.
Best game ever. It says for ages 8 and up, but I play it with my 5 year old son without any problems. He was even teaching my wife how to play all by himself. I loved playing this game as a kid and now it's nice to share the fun with my son. The only annoying thing is having to stick all the stickers to the game pieces. This isn't the version with the silver pieces. It is kind of cool to have a new piece called the infiltrator if you want to play a variation of the classic version. He is an extra piece that you would swap one of the other pieces for, so you don't have to use him if you don't want. Another thing that I found strange was the numbering system. When I used to play, the 1 was the highest ranking and 8's beat bombs. Now the 10 is the highest rank, and 3's beat bombs.

Fun game, but pieces could be higher quality
I love this board game! It takes some effort and strategy, only meant for two players. Similar to chess in that respect. Relatively easy to get the hang of after playing a round. The pieces are not the highest quality plastic, and the labels that tell you the number for each one (important for the game!) are very small, which makes it difficult to quickly look across the board and locate where each piece is. This game is definitely one I'll play for many years to come, but it would be great if the playing pieces were of higher quality.

Every game is exciting.
So far so good. Lots of fun, laughter, suspense until the finish and cheers at the end. Fast paced game. I like the pieces are well constructed and can be gripped well. Stand well too. Rare instances the pieces fall off the spot. Personally it is harder for me to see the numbers on the pictures. Kids do a better job at identifying the pieces from a distance. The red and blue plastic stand which comes along to store the pieces is quite flimsy. It is possible to crack or break it if accidentally stepped upon. Overall it is a fun game. A must have for fun family times.

Good game, extremely difficult to initially set up.
The game combines the best features of memory and war card games and chess. This version tried to emulate the original by enlarging the pieces. Unfortunately they require the user to affix labels on each piece themselves. Since they are just under 1/2 by 1 inch, it would take a skilled surgeon with eagle eye vision to attach the labels to the pieces precisely. Consequently after nearly two hours just completing the construction of the game, it still did not have the professional appearance of the version of the game I played wiith my first family over 25 years ago. Yes, I could adapt to the down of the game by making the higher pieces a 10 rather than a one, it is unforgivable to have to work so hard to try and build the the game pieces when modern technology could have easly stamped the piece rankings without significantly increasing the cost of the game. The manufacturer really needs to rethink their crazy idea of making the the customer do the work idea or sell it in the model airplane toy category.

Stratego is a really fun game!
This is the game to get. There are four rows each of soldiers per player. Some of the other Stratego games only come with three rows per player. This game is just as fun as I remember when I was a kid. They reversed the numbers of the ranks of the soldiers and now I have to re-memorize them! Wish they had not changed that. I love that there is a board to separate the troops so you cannot see how your opponent is setting up the board. This is a great game and a lot more fun then chess. Highly recommended!

Not your old game, but just as much fun playing this with your children today as it was when you were a kid.
I loved this game as a child and wish I had my original, but this version is not as disappointing as some reviewers would make you believe. If you are looking for heirloom quality, think again. This is a classic game that has been resurrected at a low cost through the magic of inexpensive plastic and foreign imports. Yes the pieces are plastic. Yes the stickers need to be put on carefully so they look right and do not fall off and finally, yes it has a different feel then your old version. That being said, my two sons could care less about the past and they thoroughly enjoying playing Stratego with me....yes, that is right. They enjoy playing something other than a video game with their dad!
