Does the screen stay on the Tamagotchi always? I notice I can switch the display to show my pet or the time clock but the screen never goes blank

yes! the screen stays on constantly, even when your tamagotchi dies the screen will stay on the dead pet until revived, leading you back to the egg screen and so forth. theres no real way to turn the screen “off”.
