Solved my problem with a new PC.
I got a Beelink PC that has an "Audio jack" on the back and another in front. I needed to plug in a 3-conductor phone plug for telephone recording (a mic with line levels), and another plug for speakers. I was hoping this would work. It works perfectly. In the old days, I would've made this- but this is certainly better than homebrew.

Wiring Explained
I can see that many folks have struggled with using this adapter, so this review is intended to clear up many issues that may occur, as the manufacturer seems unable to get the message across.First, the terminology:T = Tip (the end of the plug)R = Ring ( a ring of metal in the middle of the plug)S = Sleeve (the part of the plug closest to the plastic jacket insulation and cord)Note that the CTIA standard uses the sleeve part of the TRRS plug for the MONO connection of a Microphone. Here is where the problems can occur. See my illustration. These adapters do not make any allowance for a MONO TS Microphone plug.Inside the Jack in this adapter, the Tip and Ring of a TRS Microphone plug ARE SHORTED TOGETHER and wired to the TRRS MONO Sleeve of the plug on this adapter.Allow me to explain why this causes so many problems for end users:Many Mics are wired to a TS plug. If you insert that type of plug into this adapter, the sleeve of the TS plug meets with the Ring connector inside the jack, which is shorted (connected) to the tip of the plug. So this wiring shorts out your microphone, and you hear nothing!!A Stereo microphone with a TRS plug will only give you mono sound using this type of adapter, as the Left and Right are connected together. The TRRS CTIA standard only allows for MONO input. This adapter is simple wiring, no electronics involved, so using the wrong type of Microphone is not necessarily the fault of this adapter, but an in-compatibility with your device. There are many types of microphones out there, so keep this in mind. Discussion of microphone types is too involved to put in this commentary. The most important thing to take away from this is to keep in mind the short inside the pink microphone jack of the adapter between the Tip and Ring of the Pink TRS Microphone Jack. It is a shame they didn't just leave the ring connection disconnected, as a Stereo microphone would still have one side connected that way, and a mono microphone would have worked just fine. This is very typical of the lack of engineering and testing of products in China. They build a product and shove it out the door, with little consideration for the customer. They steal the technology we have built over decades, slap together a product, and don't put much thought into functionality, and definitely not durability. Forget about quality control.I hope this makes your shopping experience better. Have a nice day!

Works Perfectly
I recently got a new gaming PC and learned too late that it did not have the appropriate ports to plug in my headset. So I ordered this Mic Splitter, and now it works perfectly. I was worried about audio quality, but the audio is still sharp, and both the headset and microphone work fine. I'm still using it and have no complaints or negative feedback.

High quality and very durable
Ordered last year, plugged it in and realized it matched my headset cables perfectly. High quality woven cable, tough plastic/silicone connections, headphones sound exactly the same volume/quality. I have had these attached to the back of my controller and I still play comfortably for hours, if you need 2 of them then this deal is the best value to quality, the only plastic is so strong, it’s been bent at about a 180 degree angle the whole time and no static or distortion at all.

The Adapter That Saved Family Peace
This headset adapter is a game-changer for my kids. It made their headset, which had separate mic and speaker connections, work perfectly on the Switch with a single connection. Now they can talk and listen to their game without blasting it through the whole house. Family peace restored, and my sanity is intact. If you’ve got a headset with separate connections and a Switch, this is the adapter you never knew you needed. Works like a charm!

Maybe It's Me and Not It????
I bought this because I have a MacBook and if you are a mac user, you know there is no mic port. I've started teaching online so I needed a headset with a mic. The headset works fine and I decided to get this adaptor so I'm also able to use the mic. Well maybe it's me or my headset, but when I plug it in to use, it works for about 10-20 minutes and then all of a sudden it just stops. But it's only the mic part that stops working. The headset is still fine. I don't know if it's my headset, my mac, or this adaptor. So I'll give it 3 stars just for the benefit of the doubt.
