Magic The Gathering 2022 Starter Kit, 2 Ready-to-Play Decks, 2 MTG Arena Code Cards, Multicolor (D05660000) for ages 13+

So good I bought two.

I'm new to MTG and wanted to get some simple cards so having two decks and options does help. I have made my own MTG Solo mode from which I'm able to play against tokens with dice declaring what the 'enemy' does and been having plenty of fun learning the effects, abilities, sorceries and the manual helps act as a reference guide. As its a starter kit all the cards are the same but I like the look of the foils in the picture. Overall a good product for entry and great value.

The starter kit is great value for money. To demonstrate, a Dominaria United Set Booster costs £5.99, 5 of those are £25.97 (the price of two 2 booster sets plus one single booster), so you get 5 booster packs worth of cards for £18.52 less than what you'd usually get plus an extra 6 cards for good measure. For the non-lands, you get about 56 commons and 10 rares, with two of the rares being foils. For the lands, you get 54 lands total, 8 being multi colour lands (very useful) and 46 being regular colour lands (all the lands are common). All of this is divided between two decks, one red green and another white blue. The starter kit also comes with two codes that each unlock both decks from the kit in MTG: Arena. You can use one of the codes to get the decks and give the second one to your friend so both of you can play both decks in the game. Now for the not so good parts of this product. This product was released in 2022, but it was released on the 3rd of June, so any magic set released after that time, Commander Legends: Battle For Baldur's Gate, Double Masters 2022, and Dominaria United so far, won't be in the kit. A more noticeable flaw is how the play guide in the kit doesn't teach you as much as it should. While it does teach you a good amount of basics and keywords, I was surprised that there was no mention of summoning sickness or how creatures restore their defence at the end of the combat phase since both of those are quite important basics to know of when playing magic. Additionally, the guide didn't even touch on the stack or the turn phases, which, while not exactly basic knowledge, are very useful to know for beginners and intermediate players alike. Even with the basics it does cover it doesn't explain them in detail, which might not seem necessary, and yet, my Mum, who I've introduced mtg to, still feels confused by the mechanics, despite playing just fine, which might not have happened if the guide went in more detail on what you can and can't do in magic. To counter the guide not explaining all the rules I'd recommend starting MTG: Arena alongside buying the starter kit (if you're playing by yourself) or having someone who knows magic play with you (what I did for me Mum). Besides, you get a free code for the decks in MTG: Arena so you're incentivised to play Arena anyway. Overall this was a great product (if I don't have any other decks I'll play the starter decks I got with a local mtg group) and was 100% worth the money. I just wish it could've been a little better

This is a great starter set if you’re looking to get into Magic The Gathering. We got this as a gift for my brother-in-law, and I was very pleased to find that the box arrived in perfect condition. It has a great few inserts to explain how to play, without it being too overwhelming for a new player. This is a really fun game, with an expensive world to explore so if you’re looking for a new game that doesn’t take up too much room, I would recommend this product.

Perfect for me as a beginner and even better as a MtG: Arena player - I was able to quickly upload my decks using the handy codes included in the pack. I don't know much about the rarity or value of the cards but a couple came with a foil finish and the general quality of all the cards seemed really good to me. But for two complete decks, I thought this is an excellent price and much cheaper than the entry price point for other TCGs on the market.

I've finally convinced my wife to give MTG a go and this has been a fantastic way to get her started. One pack is a white/blue starter, the other a green/red. I have personally swapped them round to a red/blue and white/green just cuz she likes that way round but this is a great buy for anyone starting out

Like most reviewers say this pack lacks a lot of basic rules a beginner requires to play. I'm also not keen on the mixed decks, single coloured decks would have been much better. Otherwise Magic is a fairly simple game once you know the basics. Personally I'm not overly bothered about expanding my sets from the basic 4 x 60 card sets i now have. Thats enough for an enjoyable quick game. However for deeper games with more skilled people you may want to expand your decks. Mind you I've noticed some of the expansion sets are not that easy to get on with, Unfinity looked fun but added confusing rules. Buy a basic starter deck and look up Google for the rules.

Buying these packs separately would cost a LOT more money than this which is of course why they have this pack. It does not come with any counters or markers so you'll need those, and once the cards are in sleeves they won't fit in the provided boxes so you may want some larger boxes too, but can't fault the value. Having said that, since I bought these we've never actually used them, and only played online via MTG Arena - buying this pack unlocks additional packs of cards in the app.

I’ve just barely started to play, but at first only with the online version. After the first few matches I’ve decided to dive deeper into the hobby so started to look for options as a beginner. This set provides a lot of fun and a great point to launch yourself into MGT. It was a great bonus that with the provided code you can add these decks into your online library so you can practice with them there as well.
