I had to replace my timing belt on a 2005 VW GTI. This engine support worked perfectly! It was sturdy and was able to give me the tools to complete the job. I think it is good value for the money. I highly recommend.

During a timing job on our car, we were able to support most of the work with a jack under the oil pan. But when it came time to remove the oil pan completely, a support was absolutely necessary. This one really came through. It was easy to set up, easy to use, and gave us the confidence to work underneath without worrying about the engine shifting or coming down on us. For a smaller car engine, it’s more than up to the task. Would I trust it with the engine out of a full-size truck? Maybe—with heavier chains. But for compact or mid-size car work, this is an excellent piece of equipment. The only real challenge is figuring out where to store it afterward. Overall, solid build and a worthwhile purchase.

This item worked as designed and competently hoisted and held the engine while an oil seal on the side of the block adjacent to the engine mount was replaced. It is heavier than it looks but when holding an engine between the two fenders, it does need to be stout.

Got the job done, well priced and shipped to my door. Easy to set up and worked as it should, skip harbor freight if you don’t want to lug this into the car and back to your workspace.
