AMT Mack R685ST Semi Tractor 1:25 Scale Model Kit (AMT1039)

Loved the model, but with the price of model paint and the many colors I needed, I wasn't able to complete as I wished. The cost would have been twice the cost of the model.

I thoroughly enjoyed building this model. The quality overall is much better than many of the models I have built. Having said that, there were some pins whose matching holes were not properly sized. Additionally, there were some assembly procedures where the directions were lacking in detail. The accuracy of assemblying the frame correctly is put to the test in the next to last step when the pins that allow the hood to hinge must fit snuggly in holes on the front inside of the frame members. I enjoyed the challenges that this gave me as I built it in tribute to my brother-in-law who drove a Mack for many years.

If you've always wanted to build a 1/25 scale model of the truck from "Road Warrior" (Mad Max 2), this is the kit you'll need to start with. AMT has recently reissued it after it has been out of production and highly sought after for a number of years. You will need to scratch-build a RHD dashboard if you want to build your model true to the movie. Good luck and have fun building this fine kit!

Very accurate to the real truck.

The directions are horrible. Nothing fits together. You have to cut tires to make them fit. Very poor design! Waste of money.

Had to improvise on the Exhaust Stack ,could use another bracket.Had some trouble with the hood hinges. Not a good setup.But with that it looks like the R Model I used to Drive!
