Great book to help your kiddo out!
Highlights has always been great, but this book is way better than expected. Great price for how thick this thing is. My kiddo was having a hard time at first with writing and learning the sounds of letters. But this book has a great layout for not only practice writing but learning the sounds. They do it in a really fun way too. And after each letter or number they learn, there is a fun activity that still helps them with identifying the letter/number.Would highly recommend even if your kiddo isn't struggling. It just helps them keep up with their class and have fun learning.

Fantastic book
This book is fantastic. I have a little one who was having such a hard time writing until we started using this workbook. Now her hand muscles are working as they should and she’s getting so much neater with her handwriting. I would recoded this to anyone

Superior to Brain Quest workbooks, wish I could give it 10 stars!
My just turned 5 year old (rising K student) is starting to read unfamiliar words by herself out loud after going through the first section of this book with me!!! No wonder this series is winning all the awards! Some serious thought, and cleverness went into making this series.I'll illustrate what makes this book so unique in comparison to the Kindergarten Brain Quest book:Brain Quest starts with the section on tracing the letters in order. Then follows the next section on "phonics" of the letters in order, one page each - only that the pictures for each letter are not phonetic at all, the authors just put everything that starts with the letter "E" on the "E" page without explanation or consideration that "E" can sound as in "Eagle" or "Egg". To add to the confusion they put an apple on the "E" page, next to the egg. Say these two words and now you'll get an idea why it is so confusing for children learning how to read and spell. Then Brain Quest, perplexingly, has yet another section about all the vowels sounds - but only the "short" sounds, and only appearing in the middle of a word - such as "short e" sound in the middle of "ten".Contrast the Highlights Kindergarten book: Each letter is a whole unit; Tracing is immediately followed with the accurate phonemic sound of that letter (via pictures), separating and grouping the different sounds some letters make! (Including all the consonants such as in "cat and clown" vs. "cereal and circus"!) We practiced all the letters that make more than one sound several times. Then follow some games for that letter, including a double paged search picture which is so cleverly done that even the adults in the house gathered to figure out which additional action words or verbs are displayed in the search picture. Needless to say that we all LOVE this book!Very glad to have found this series, and hope that they will continue it to cover more grades!
