Learn IoT Programming Using Node-RED: Begin to Code Full Stack IoT Apps and Edge Devices with Raspberry Pi, NodeJS, and Grafana (English Edition)

Awful. Disjointed, confusing, ambiguous, contradictory and sloppy language.
First off, this book is going back - it's not fit for purpose.I am really unclear who this book is written for - existing programmers will already be aware of the structures it talks about (although it does have several incorrect defintions - the layers seem to be what the author believes they should be rather than what is commonly accepted) and hobbyist users won't care about the layers. The book also spends time discussing NodeRED dashboard which any serious developer wouldn't use - again, this is something for the hobbyist. Or it would be if it gave any indication of the kind of use this should be put to. And yet, this book is completely unsuitable for a hobbyist as it assumes knowledge on many topics without providing references/citations.It purports to be for Raspberry Pi devices, yet the text talks about needing two different NodeRED installations - one on a Pi and one on a PC and then goes on to only talk about the one of the PC - so why mention the Pi in the first place. It talks about a 'sensor hat' on a Pi, but then uses a sensor hat emulator on the PC installation - really confusing. If it wants to use a sensor hat, then it should use a sensor hat actually on a Pi.There is a chapter which mentions 'git' at the start and again at the end. The quiz at the end of the chapter asks about 'git', but the 'correct' answer is the bit at the start of the chapter and not the bit at the end. Really confusing. In addition to all of the above, the layout is confusing - the same font is used when you're meant to type something in as well as is used to show the output of a command, so it's not clear what it's expecting you to type and what it isn't.The sections on InfluxDB and Grafana are woefully short, inadequate and lack huge swathes of explanation. But beyond all of the above, what is missing is any mention whatsoever of MQTT which has pretty much become the standard for transferring information between IoT nodes. In short, this book is garbage.
