The only caveat is that when you apply a pull-up resister to an open gpio pin and read it's status you will normally see a result of 1. But with this attached the light is enough of a load that the pin reads zero instead. In certain specific scenarios that might be an annoyance, but it also has an easy fix, just add an external pull-up.
