One of my favorite movies!
If you love a good movie with a strong female lead - this is for you! This movie is based on true events. It's interesting, inspiring, funny, and Julia Roberts does a phenomenal job reminding me of resilience, confidence, and standing up to yourself! Highly recommended!

Go Erin....
I was initially interested in this movie for two reasons. Julia Roberts is one of my favorite actors, and it is based on a true story. I must say that this movie, which came out more than 20 years ago, is one of my favorites, and I watch it at least once a year on average. The first thing anyone watching this movie has to know is who is Erin Brockovich. Despite lacking formal legal training, she is a legal assistant, consumer advocate, and environmentalist who was instrumental in creating and triumphing in a class action case against Pacific Gas & Electric Company. This is the situation that the film is based on.Although the focus of the film was more on Julia than Erin, it was nonetheless done in a way that allowed viewers to enjoy themselves while also learning about the real-life incident. It inspired many to investigate and learn more about the true story. It is a great movie!

Erin Brockovich returns to East Palestine, OH!
So, I refreshed my old memory on an excellent film by the same name -- Enough said.

Beautifully written story
True Julia Roberts, although her set isn't quite that large. That's Hollywood for ya!

A rough diamond....
A pretty effective film, done in the same format as much of this subject matter, it reminded me of Spotlight, All the Presidents Men and The China Syndrome. I have this on DVD and the picture and sound quality are pretty good, the aspect ratio is 16:9, the picture has a warm yellow look to it. It’s a fairly well acted film, though at times the comedy felt a bit forced and put on, overall though the acting was fine, it’s more how the characters are written as falling into cliches a bit, the tough talking fiery single mother, the cynical weary lawyer, the cold awkward Harvard law graduate, the biker character though was nice in that he’s quite a thoughtful character torn between traditional ideas about masculinity and how much he enjoys being a step father to her children. The main character is one of those rough diamond types who’s heart is in the right place but who’s short temper and colour language often land her in hot water. The music is quite good, lots of piano. American loves a story about a big faceless negligent corporation being taken on by the little guy, the film is intended as a big of crowd pleaser, though it does also intelligently dive into the cost of working this case has on our main character’s personal life, missing her baby’s first words and so on. The film also does a nice job and explaining the legal complexities too of the US justice system and why it’s not always as simple as it appears and things rarely come to trial. The film is nicely shot, well acted and edited, it’s also easy to follow and you never feel confuse or lost. Overall very good.

For the first time in my life, I got people respecting me. Please, don't ask me to give it up.
The film is based on a real case and is about real people so to that ends it is obviously simple in structure, and nagging away as you watch it is the fact that the ending is never in doubt, it "is" all too predictable. However, what made Erin Brockovich the success it was is that the title character is not only interesting but also, importantly, intriguing. A foul mouthed hard bitten, twice divorced mother of three has to fight her corner just to get an honest days pay. It's a fabulous story backed up by a simply incredible performance from Julia Roberts. Here Roberts has let her hair down, puts on a push up bra and a short skirt, she is clearly enjoying the freedom of the role, and the results are real effective.I have no doubt that working alongside Albert Finney helped Roberts no ends, but it is her show all the way, and she alone masks over what really is an ordinary film, there is nothing we haven't seen before here, it's just a more modern take on the good versus evil corporate company scenario. It's steadily directed by Steven Soderbergh, emotional scenes are not overstretched to treacle point, and all in all it's good solid story telling. Repeat viewings prove to dilute the uplift factor of the finale, but Roberts' performance certainly holds firm for evermore.8/10 for the film, 10/10 for Roberts' ballsy show. If only we could have had more of these performances from her.

Based on true story. Splendid retelling
The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is I felt Julia Roberts acted the young protagonist showing a bit too much feisty impatience now and again - it was a bit wearing! Other than that, Julia is one of my favourite actresses and always worth seeing her movies. But the true story issue is dramatic and well worth knowing about - clearly a huge scandal at the time. That was our No.1 reason for watching the movie. Well done by all the cast to put it over so well.

Love this film
This is a terrific film mainly for the relationship between Erin and her boss played by Albert Finney but Julia Roberts is outstanding . That it is based on a true story makes it even better and the real Erin Brockovich has a Hitchcock style appearance in the film early on as ... well I won't spoil it if you haven't yet seen this excellent film. Incidentally I cannot agree that Harley Davidson is the best motorcycle in the World as he seems to be working on it all the time. I prefer my 'bike to go when I need it to.

DVD film of Erin Brockovich
A great David and Goliath yarn with a fine female protagonist. The plot and subject matter are ever-increasingly prescient, given our fragile planet's state.
