Grass pretty much comes up where ever you put this down.
I put grass seed out a couple of times in locations that were bare but nothing really grew. I put this product out and within a few days I had grass growing.

It WORKS!
I am a Realtor and highly recommend this to my clients who have some patches of grass that need extra love out to prep their yard before listing. I’ve used this for several years at my own property where I’ve got farm animals and free range chickens. We’re building soon and I’ll be ordering large bags to get my grass growing there as well. For reference I’m in NC & SC and it grows great here!

Kinda worked
I used this in a couple areas and in many of them it worked. Others it didn’t. Could be a soil issue on my end.

Expensive But Worth It
I have used this product several times to fix bare or poorly-growing areas in my lawns. If you follow the instructions (such as loosening the dirt in the area you plan to cover first), it really works well. I wish I had taken before & after photos to show you because I have several areas of my lawn that once looked anemic and are now lush and full. As long as you keep the area you covered consistently moist for the first few weeks, the grass will grow in beautifully. I definitely recommend this product.

Easy application, mediocre results. Make your own mix!
UPDATED REVIEW- This spring, I got an early start and bought a few bags of Scotts EZ seed from my local Costco. I liked how the mulch mix immediately plumped up after rain showers, doing a great job of hiding the seeds from the birds while also keeping the seeds well hydrated. With this product, there were no birds scouring the yard for seed. And in as little as about a week, I was seeing signs of life in the form of sprigs bursting forth from the mulch mix.I was impressed enough, that I went back to Costco to get a few more bags of this EZ seed but found they were completely sold out. So I came to Amazon and bought a few more here. It's been over a month now, and I'm seeing just a few sprigs here and there, but hardly a nice dense patch of grass in the areas I was treating.I've bought six bags of this stuff so far and am not super pleased with the patchy results of very, very fine grass. In many areas, there has been zero germination. Here's what I suggest. Go to Home Depot, Lowe's or your local farm and garden store and get a big bag of grass seed suited for your area. Get some peat moss and pour it into a wheel barrow. Mix the seed in until you get a nice seed to "mulch" ratio and spread it. You'll save a ton of money and get even better results since you can add more seed to the mix this way. The peat will keep the seeds moist and act as as good growing medium while also helping to protect from birds.

Keep the lawn moist!
When I arrived at my summer place I had a large oval area(approximately 12’ x 6’) of dead grass in my front lawn. It coincided with a recent treatment by a lawn service but when they inspected it they claimed it was winter mite damage. I bought the Scott’s EZ all in one product and applied it liberally. I watered my lawn four time a day for fifteen minutes each time. It took awhile and a second application to completely fill in this huge dead spot but it worked. At the end of three months I had a lush lawn with no evidence of prior dead spots. The key is keeping the lawn moist.

EZ Recede
So, I'm a beginner on lawn care. Those lawn care experts would laugh or deride me. Knock yourselves out. This EZ SEED has done a fantastic job destroying the patches further. Every spot that was treated with this stuff has gotten worse, see images. It also burnt the green grass surrounding the patches, so basically this EZ SEED made the patches bigger, why thank you. This product should be renamed as EZ RECEDE to accurately describe its intended function so that Scott can gain sales exponentially by those who wish to burn their lawns.I've also tried Thick R' Lawn with no positive results. The only Scotts' products that worked were Northern States Seed Sun & shade mix & Fescue Mix Seeds, treated with Sta Green's top soil (Sta Green had poor 3-star review at LOWES, but it worked well for me). So, I was about to buy another 32 LBS bag of Northern Seed, only to find that the price has doubled in less than 2 weeks. I bought the 32 LBS bag for $96, now it's reaching $200. What just happened? Not sure what is wrong with corporates & people these days. The price for Northern States Sun & Shade Mix came down to about $96 for the 32 lbs bag so I grabbed it. That was some 3 weeks ago. With wasted money & damaged lawn, my stress level has gone up and even my hair is starting to recede. It needs reseed.

This stuff is a miracle
This grass grows SO well! I have tried getting grass to grow in my yard before, but the entire thing is mostly in shade, covered in weeds, and has pine needles dropping on it making it very acidic. A few have grown a bit for a short while, but nothing ever came back after winter, which is very mild here. I m also terrible about watering grass, because I either forget to turn the sprinkler on, or I forget to turn it off! THIS stuff though grew thick, and we saw growth within a week, and it stayed green all winter and is very strong now in springThis area used one whole bag. It is a couple hundred square yards less that what the bag says it covers, but we waited a couple of weeks and used the leftovers to fill in the patchy spots. We seeded with just enough time for it to get established before winter. As you can see this area gets basically no direct sun. Now, we DID to a lot of prep work in this area. It previously had a ground cover with mulch on it, and was completely overgrown with weeds, but there was a lot of erosion under the ground cloth, so we pulled all the weeds, scraped off the mulch, and pulled up the ground cloth. Then we let it sit a couple months, pulled out the weeds that came up, tilled and leveled by hand as best we could, added a few bags of fill dirt because the back area was down to red clay, and then seeded. We did drown the area a few times by accident, and missed a few waterings, but the grass still came in great! It is VERY green though. Especially when it is new, and next to the neighbors brown grass during the winter, it looks almost neon 😂. It is not so obvious in this picture because of the shade and it is mature grass now, but it looked funny over winter.
