Not only housecats but a couple of big cats - a lion, tiger, and cheetah. This are all full-face portraits so that feline gaze is central to the picture. The housecats are varied - many tabbies but also a Siamese, a Persian, and an Abyssinian. (There may be other breeds but it is hard to tell with the small thumbnails.) Oversized 10" x 14" format means more coloring pleasure and the pages are single-sided and perforated for a great experience; 20 pages plus a fold-out 19" x 14" poster. If you've looked at the Querkles series and been intimidated, don't be. Although a page may look like a difficult maze of areas, it is really quite relaxing to fill in the different areas, watching the image gradually come into being. (The big picture and numbers could be too much for a child; also you want good lighting to work on these, as the printing for the lightest areas is quite light to not show through. To get started, pick out one of the less complex drawings and choose five colors with a variety of shades. For your first, maybe just use five shades of the same color to get started; either browns or greys will work great with these cats. You'll quickly see how the drawings fill in and figure out your own approach for the most fun. (I tend to go from lightest to darkest so if I misapply a light color and catch it later, the dark color can cover it.) Review: Querkles are so awesome... and I love cats, so... - I love these Querkles books. I started with "Masterpieces", which is a very fine volume, and moved on to this book of felines. It has a nice mix of big cats and domestic cats, kittens and adults, beautiful and comical. The size of the book is larger than a typical coloring book, as befits pictures you might want to display, and the paper quality is excellent -- thick and smooth, and very receptive to pen and marker ink. It is not bad for Prismacolor pencils, either. The pages are perforated to facilitate removal. I like experimenting with different techniques, like marker pointillism and filling in the sections with short fur-like strokes. The Siamese, which I did entirely with different densities of brown and black "fur" strokes (except for light blue in the eyes), came out looking just like my two dear departed seal points. I fear I'll never want to go back to regular "boring" adult coloring books!

Love Querkles!
I have all of the Querkles books now and I love them all. They are unique and very fun to color. I love seeing the image appear before your eyes as you color more of the circles in. The paper is nice and I love how this book is perfect for using color palettes and learning how to pick colors that go together. I hope Thomas creates some more!!

So relaxing and fun! The Cats book is beautiful!
These are so much fun and I found myself able to relax so easily while coloring all of the little circles. The end product is beautiful, and unlike a lot of other color by number books, you get to choose all of the colors. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to take their mind off of daily stress and create beautiful art in a short period of time. I bought this book for myself (cat themed) but will definitely buy more as gifts for others!

Seriously impressed
I was getting bored with the same old color and activity books. When I stumbled upon this one, I was really intrigued. After I got it, I was a little intimidated and so it sat in my room for over a week or so. Then I started pondering what I could do to my elderly parents for entertainment from boredom and decided I Needed to activate the color book. Lol (Just saying, I'd Not Ever harm my parents. They're the Sh**.😊). Anyways, I was quite seriously impressed with how easy this book is, once you get started and know what you're going to use in colors. I've only done one picture so far. But overall, I'm happy I got this book and the other animal one with the giraffe on the front. I wondered if I took a FAR away pic and not allow any good close ups, could I act like I drew it. ( I said ACT LIKE I did, not claim I did it. Lol) See 2nd pic. The answer to that question is yes, it's THAT good. I'd not ever claim such a thing, where's the pride in accomplishment in that?! But to the artist and creator of these books, well done!! Overall, I do recommend it. The reason For 4 stars is because the instructions could be a little more instructive with colors and such. Like, if I use light colors for the higher and lowest numbers and a dark for the middle number(s), would it still come out? I'm going to find a pic in the other book that I don't care much about, and try that. I'll post it when done. Until then, have fun! You'll enjoy the challenge And outcome.

Couldn't be happier
These are so much fun! I can hardly put pen down. They have enough difficulty to give a little bit of a challenge but nothing overwhelming or frustrating. The pictures are wonderful and so much fun. I use alcohol markers on these and the paper holds up nicely. I love this author and I have multiple of his books. I can't get enough "querkles" and I'm so happy I decided to purchase it!!!!!

Big, Funny Book of fun.
This is very different from your standard coloring book. Not bad, but different, very different from the standard, but lots of fun. My one recommendation is to use colored pencils or crayons for this book, rather than your gel pens, as these over-sized designs will otherwise use up your gel pens really quickly. On the other hand, it may be a good opportunity for putting a few of those less-loved gel pen colors to good use with some fun and interesting results.

Our entire family family loves querkles! They’re fun to work on alone (almost meditative!) or as a family and they look super cool when you’re done. We received the Animals book as a gift and loved them so much we bought Cats. Highly recommended.

Cat Querkles was a lot of fun but challenging at the same time. I loved the finished cat portraits. I ordered another Querkles colouring book as soon as I finished this one.
