One of my two-year-old's FAVORITES
My two-year-old son makes me read this to him several times a day to the point where the pages are falling out. I am ordering our second copy now, because he loves it so much. Of all the fire truck books he has, this is the only one he seems to be obsessed with. My only complaint is that it is paperback, and two-year-olds aren't exactly gentle with their belongings! But other than that, we are very happy with this book!Just a note - I am horrified that people are upset because the child telling the story is a girl. What a sad statement on society's expectations of gender roles and how it seems some would still like to limit females in their aspirations. My son is a child. I am not teaching him bigotry. And the book is about being a fire fighter, something a child of either gender finds fascinating. He loves the truck, the descriptions of siren, sliding down the pole, and the fire being put out, and he LOVES that the girl is going to see her grandma with her toy truck in hand, just like he does. Why do adults have to put their archaic biases on children? Let the kids enjoy the fire truck book, because it is a really good one for both boys and girls alike.

... book I thought my 2 year old son might like it because it was about a fire truck
When I bought this book I thought my 2 year old son might like it because it was about a fire truck, however I didn't know he would LOVE it. We read it every night to bed. He says his friends name is Susan (the main character in this book) and he can "read" along with us for most of this book. It is a cute story of a little girl on her way to Grandma's house who dreams about what she would do if she could drive a fire truck. I've learned from reading other book reviews that some kids might love a book and my son won't give it a second thought, and some books he might love that other kids won't like but at this price it's worth a shot to see if your child would like this book as much as my son does

Great read for the future Fireman
My three year old son loved this book. It was nightly choice while we were on a three week trip to visit family. He learned the book very quickly and I would hear him playing out parts of the book during his daily play. The picture were pretty true to life and it was a fun book to read together.

I think it really helped him learn what the truck looks like and what the fireman do a little
My son loves this book. We got it to read before a visit to the fire station with his playgroup. I think it really helped him learn what the truck looks like and what the fireman do a little. (He was only 1 1/2 years old). The book is in a temporary hiding as we do not want to continue reading it EVERY night before bed per my son's request. ;)

Is it too late for Grandma to drive a firetruck?
Great, colorful book for a young child, especially one who dreams of becoming a firefighter. The book nicely places a girl as the main firefighter in the story, which excites my granddaughter though does not deter my grandson. The logo "Tonka" is really not an issue and should not keep anyone from enjoying this fun little book.

Your two year old's favorite... my favorite gift
Firefighters at our station are not permitted to drive apparatus until they are 21 years old. Anyone between the age of 18-21 usually receives this book for some holiday. Also the perfect gift to keep on hand for giving to apparatus drivers after minor fender benders to keep morale up.Tell your two year old even firefighters read this book. True story folks.

Cute book
My two year old son LOVES this book. He's slightly obsessed with cars and trucks (including firetrucks) so, i'm sure that's most of the attraction. But, regardless, he loves it. It's a cute book- I would recommend for any boy who loves firetrucks!

Its a book.
We honestly haven't read it yet. I got 2 fire truck books thinking they would bee kid friendly since my step-son is 3 1/2. Everyone that I have found is soo long and too technical for him. But like I said we havent read it yet. I glanced at it and put it to the side, deciding it wasnt what I wanted. Maybe in a few years he will be more interested in all it has to say.
