Long-lasting, High-mileage Tire
I have been experimenting with bicycle tires for actually hundreds of thousands of miles. Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires have filtered to the top of the heap. They aren't cheap, they aren't light, but they last and last. I regularly get over 8,000 miles on the rears and 12,000 miles on the fronts. I am running 26 x 1.75." My bike is an early 1990s steel mountain bike that I have made into a cargo bike. It weighs 75 pounds. This bike is a test of any tire. Schwalbe Marathon Plus come out on top. Note: to get the tire that I am using, you need all three words: Schwalbe. Marathon. Plus. I do not run tire liners (Mr Toughie or equivalent.) I do run tube sealant (a double dose of Green Slime in each tube). I get fewer than one flat per year. I am a happy camper at about 4,000 miles per year. These tires provide what I ask of them: High mileage, durability. Everything else is a minor detail.

A durable touring tire that's worth every penny
I purchased these tires for a bicycle tour and I'm impressed how long they lasted. I thought I would use them for a 3,000 mile jaunt across the Atlantic Coast, but they wore so little that I simply rotated them and rode another 3,500 miles across the Desert Southwest, where I wore them to their last legs. All told, I've ridden nearly 7,000 miles on them, probably 90% on debris-strewn highways, and I've had six flat tires, making for less than one flat every 1,000 miles. (Four of those flats included two nails, a warped paperclip, and a screw, which probably no bicycle tire could hope to prevent. The other two were a huge thorn and a tiny piece of wire, which could likely have been prevented with a less-worn tire or a vial of green slime inside the tube, which fills up pinhole leaks.)If all you ever do is ride on bike trails or through well-kept neighborhoods, it'll take you years to wear these things out. If you're doing something more intense like a bicycle tour, they'll last easily 5,000 miles. Just be sure to rotate them after 2,000 or 3,000 miles since the rear tire, especially on a loaded bicycle, wears two or three times faster than the front.I highly recommend spending the extra money on a comparatively bomb-proof tire. But don't pretend that purchasing something like this will keep you from ever having to change the tire. You should still probably have a patch kit, a pump, and a spare tube, at least on a lengthy tour.

very nice
The seller was Amazon. I paid 48 bucks for each tire including shipping. I purchased 2 tires.I purchased this tire along with two other items...to upgrade my old bike. My goal was to make my tires as flat-free as possible. This tire has "smartguard", which is about 5mm thick; add that to the rubber that is above and below the smartguard, and that means there is about 8-9mm between the road and the tube. There are goathead weeds in my area, and they flatten tires real fast. I don't rely on this tire as my only defense. I also purchased a quality tire liner: Mr. Tuffy Bicycle Tire Liner. And I purchased quality tubes: 2 x Schwalbe Inner Tubes - 26" x 1.50 to 2.50 - Schrader/Auto Valve - PAIR - FREE VALVE CAP UPGRADE [No. AV13].Between the tire and the tire liner, there is about 10-11mm of barrier between my tube and the road. That's enough to keep the goat heads out.Slime doesn't work for me--it just clogs the tube value; and after a while, Slime dries and clumps inside the tube, making it useless. The tire was easy to install. I have tire levers and a Quik Stik Tire Changer. The Quik Stik makes it easy to pop the last bit of tire over the rim.I'm happy with my purchase, and I'm looking forward to a future with no flats!

seem sturdy. time will tell! fit fine (27.5 / 650b)
I have the giant quick-e bike. The schwalbe big ben tires that came with it wore out quickly (okay okay, 3500 miles to bald) but more importantly were extremely puncture prone. But, they weren't really designed to be puncture resistant. I was getting a flat a week on my city streets.I replaced them with these and the narrrower tire handles better and so far, no flats. It's hard to find inner tubes quite small enough for 650b x 1.5", since most tires in this size are 2", but schwalbe does make the tubes that are *just* small enough.A thick tire with a steel bead is indeed hard to install, but I believe in you. I'm a noob and it took me about 20-30 minutes / tire with tire levers. Still, I'll trade that difficulty against having to repair flats on a thinner tire on a weekly basis. I commute daily.

Hit 27 MPH on the first hill Rad City Gen 4 - 2022. I replaced mountain bike tires. Smoother ride. More coasting and speed. I could tell the difference right away. The tires were a little difficult to install but not bad if you know what you are doing.

Puncture-resistant, touring-worthy
Durable. I got about 18,000kms over four years out of these tires before they finally tore on me.Living up to their reputation, these are insanely puncture-resistant, especially when paired with Mr. Tuffy liner (a must). With this arrangement you're more likely to get flats from problems with your rims than from the road. However, I have had flats - I estimate 2 over the life of the tire. I guess that works out to one every 9000km -- not bad!Over that same lifetime, my front tire, regular Marathons, had a dozen or so flats. Normally you get more flats on your rear tire.Highly recommended for any commuter or touring bike where regular 15-20min tire repair stops in the heat or cold are worth slightly lower rolling resistance.Note: the narrow version of these tires (e.g., 26X1.35) is nearly impossible to get on when new. Even if you know what you're doing, it may take you hours, many pinched tubes and a trip to the LBS to get them installed. Heaven forbid you ever DO get a flat on a new tire. Installing these wider ones was no problem.

Schwalbe 26X1.75 Marathon Plus
I put these tires on my TREK Hybrid and did a tour of the South Island of New Zealand, 4500 km plus upon returning to Japan they have done over 15,000 kms then one day I finally got a 50mm nail through the side wall .... amazing how well these tires have lasted .... So after a battle to remove them from the DT Swiss Rims I switched front to back, as the front had little to no wear over the ditance travelled ... since then the tires have done another 5,000 km plus .... I tested the roll resistance an they were nearly as good as road tires.... only draw back is the tires are on the heavy side making the bike that much heavier.....

Ottima fattura

Happy with my choice so far
So far seems like a really good quality tire. As other reviews say, they are hard to mount, but I think that is because they are so thick and stiff. I'll take strength and durability over easy mounting any day.I'm cautiously optimistic that these will actually last a while before breaking apart like the last 2 sets of tires I bought, which only lasted about a year each (WTB puncture guard and Maxxis commuter). I've had these on my daily commuter for about 4 months now and they still look like new and have had no flats.

Great tyre and great service
This is a great tyre. Was dismayed by other reviews of tyre being out of shape due to roll up, and difficult to fit. But I took the chance. It did come in a box twisted up to fit, but after hanging up all night it returned to shape perfectly. And it was easy to fit, I have strong hands and tyre leavers were not necessary. Will buy again.
