Yoga Tune Up: QuickFix Rx - Upper Body Series

Great for tight neck/shoulders!
I noticed a huge difference in my neck and shoulders after doing this for the very first time. Everything felt loose and open like I had just been to the chiropractor.I also like that the dvd is broken up into different sections for the neck, shoulders or upper back. You can do them each separately or there's an option to do them all together. There's also either a 5 or 10 minute option for each separate section. I haven't checked out the hands/wrists/elbows parts yet.Props used are a yoga block and yoga "tune up" balls, but you could use a thick book and tennis balls just as well.I think the production quality and studio setting is professional-looking and well done. The instructor is easy to see and understand and has that "friendly" quality that makes her easy to watch. This is a great dvd and I recommend it for anyone who holds lots of tension in their shoulders and neck like I do!

First exercise video I like!
Wow, this video is organized, well thought out, isn't tedious or repetitive? Hooray! The instructor doesn't lecture, but instead while doing the stretches she gives tips and reminders to maintain good posture, etc. Her instructions are simple but effective enough to lead a beginner -- my 11 yr old did the first part of the tape with me today and didn't need any help. Jill Miller is great. She comes across as a real person -- her hair isn't perfect, she has genuine warmth in her eyes, and she speaks in a conversational, casual voice. The way she gives the clinical names for the different muscles is great, and it reminds me that my body is made up of many intricate parts. Jill's attitude and encouragement is refreshing, and I definitely feel looser and better overall after doing even 15 minutes of the QuickFix.I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because I would like her to give more reminders to stand straight, keep relaxed, and not push yourself too hard.

LOVE
I am totally enamoured of this DVD. Jill Miller is a genius, and she has my everlasting gratitutde for producing this series. I had bought the three yoga link DVDs but found them a little daunting - even though I regularly practice pilates and quite regularly practice yoga. I suffer from tightness in my right hip/top of leg, and left inner thigh and hip flexor - which not only hurt but make me walk funny too! I also have very tight shoulders and chest and a painful neck - and painful elbows too! - probably because of computer and knitting and sewing..... I bought this and the lower body DVD and tried them both yesterday. WOW! I haven't felt this good for a long long time - loose, open, straight, stretched out. They are feasible for everyone - even my very unfit and tight shouldered sister. The relief I felt is incredible. Now, I normally do pilates at least three times a week, and afterwards do a short yoga session of around 25 minutes to relax me and stretch out the weak spots. This is so much better. I ended up doing all the quickfixes - the short 5 minute and the longer (10 minutes only!) for each section - because they felt so wonderful! Her self massage techniques are incredible. The stretches and strengtheners in these DVDs are practically all unique - and this is someone with an enormous collection of DVDs talking here, people (at least 300... ahem). The sessions are so well thought out. And she also has a cute sense of humour, which helps.....HIGHLY recommended. If you have any sort of pain, tightness or discomfort anywhere in your body - or you want to insure against the aging process - if you work with PCs, do any kind of handwork, suffer from tension or stress - in other words, everyone!

Production problem with this DVD
This is the second copy of Jill's wonderful DVD that I have purchased. Her program is both effective and achievable. However, BOTH DISCS freeze during the middle of the 5-minute Neck Quick Fix session and then skip the rest of that section. We have tried them on new and old standard U.S. DVD machines as well as a Blu-Ray. Of course we inspected and cleaned the discs, but no change.Whoever produced these discs for Tune Up Fitness Worldwide Inc. needs to to fess up there was a production issue with this Lot. The company or the subcontracted producer needs to offer free replacement. The disc has a lasered number: 0074-1061 which could be the Lot Number. Then there is Product Code info: QUICKFIX/UPPERBAY148 DVD/CAF1LW/2

good for preventing problems and/or improving function and decreasing pain
This dvd has been very helpful in significantly decreasing my (what was becoming chronic) neck pain. This neck pain was a real "wake-up call" to me about the importance of staying flexible as one ages; I am 64. I have noticed a significant decrease in neck pain after about 2 uses of this DVD. Now I am pain free usually. I do the entire dvd's exercises preventatively 2-3 times a week. It is basically a yoga-based series of highly original exercises (at least I'd never seen them done before); some of the therapy-type exercises require her therapy balls and yoga block or book. I ordered the therapy balls from the Yoga Tune Up Store; I am happy with them but it took 20 days from date of order for me to receive them (in the same state) so just be aware that it could possibly take awhile. I have no idea if this is a typical timeframe. (Cost: $10 + $5 S&H.) However, many of the exercises can be done without the balls though so one could still get started on the program.Jill is giving instruction as she is demonstrating the exercises and so occasionally stumbles over her words or misspeaks but that is the only negative and I find that to be a non-issue really. I like the fact that each body region is set up in 5 and 10 minute sections: neck, shoulder, upper body, wrists and hands. The segments flow easily and it is easy to see how to do the movements. I plan on purchasing more of her DVDs soon. Hope this helps.
