Bought to shreds cabbage
This product works great shreds the cabbage well. We use it to make sauerkraut. Seems to be good quality. Follow the instructions and season the wood with an edible oil. I used coconut oil.

Good for slicing large amounts of Canbage
Love everything about this slicer except the clean up. A little dangerous trying to wipe down the blades. Other than that, very happy with the purchase. Worked up 5 heads of cabbage quickly to use for Sauerkraut. Treated with Spoonbutter to preserve the wood. Very well made!

Excellent, except for bent blade
I love how fast and easy this works f9r making saurkraut. Worked great the first time I used it. Second time, a blade got bent, I guess because I forgot to remove the core. I turned the blade around and was able to finish this round. Im2ould love to get a replacement blade and not have to buy another cutter.

Worked perfectly
I was hesitant after reading a few of the reviews but ended up deciding to go ahead and order this. Shredded cabbage for 20gal of kraut, Worked like a charm. For those who wrote the carriage didn't slide smoothly, read the directions. You HAVE TO apply wood conditioner before using, the carriage will not slide smoothly if you do not. We shredded the cabbage into a plastic tote. If you allow the cabbage to build up under the shredder it will push up on the blades and cause a jamb. Worked with little effort.

Dull blades
First time used, we noticed blades were dull with no way to remove them for sharpening. Very disappointing for German made product.

Sharp Blades - Easy Cutting
I like the size of the cutter. It sliced through cabbage easily. I tried using the box slide, but I didn't like it. Too much uncut cabbage slid under the sides and I was constantly hand cutting those. I stopped using the box and just pushed the cabbage through by hand which worked much better. NOTE: If you do this make sure you keep your fingers away from the blades. As my headline says - SHARP BLADES.

Item is built simple like the old slicers , sauerkraut and coleslaw cabbage cutter..
Very disappointed with finish workmanship, sloppy at best! If this is the German engineering I’m use to oh boy! It was not sanded to complete natural wood look. Additionally and most importantly the knives or blades are 3rd rate at best, to flimsy, not stout enough it gets gamed and digs into the slide tray also cuts the cabbage different thickness each time. No uniformity extremely disappointing. Reminds me of the workmanship of Japan in the 50s and early 60s. I sadly assumed it would be German quality! Do-not-recommend !

Great slicer
Glove is a little small. Put a coat of mineral oil on the slicer just to protect from moister. Works great and sliced cabbage just right for kraut
