Never thought it would work
But it does.....we filled one central water container and fed these strands into the soil of the plants that required to be watered whilst we were away on holiday for 18 days. i expected to come back to find all plants either dehydrated or dead. Not a bit of it. If plants could dance.................! they loved the system and there was still water left in the supply tank.A brilliant and simple idea.

Amazing
It is a very flexible polypropylene covered wick. The water is absorbed by the exposed wick at one end, travels inside the covering and drips out of the exposed inner wick at the other; it does not come out of the length, although the length does become slightly damp. I did not need to, but I suspect you could loop the damp cord around the base of the plant. If you need a greater discharge, expose a longer length of wick at the end(s) or use a second length of cord. If you need a lesser discharge, shorten the length of exposed wick or tie a knot in the cord !The reservoir container can be below the level of the receiving pot but not by much. Mine is level with the top of a 3" deep plant pot and I have had no problems with it drawing water from the bottom of the reservoir to the top of the plant-pot. It will draw water up as well as across but probably not up great distances. You cannot daisy-chain these, one cord for each plant pot. A great idea to pre-soak each length before use and make a small peg hoop with wire to stop it falling out of the target pot.Certainly you would need to play with this for a day or two to get the amounts etc correct and ensure the plant pots can drain any surplus, but these are so cheap and simple in operation they simply cannot be faulted

It worked!
First time have tried this easy method. Returned to find my plants still alive! And no need to ask neighbours.

Great plant watering system!
Kept my plants alive for 4 weeks while on holiday. Once I had set up my elaborate irrigation system( plastic water bottles) the string started working right away. No plant casualties so would recommend this product.

Not sure about it
It definitely works, but after one day my plant is overflowing in water and job done. So that's not what supposed to happen. I've tried different positions but still transferring too much water in short period of time.

Had to revise my review from 1 star to 4 star
My friend is a textile specialist and confirmed I'd 65%% cotton 35% polyester. Used it on some large vegetable pots in an isolated and followed instructions. Hypomania rope works and water nicely soaked throughout the rope. It's short of 30M per rope and 3ach measured about 29M so it's 58M in total out of 60M. No big deal as it actually qorks and its my first time trying out a Hydrophonic irrigation, watering system.

Kept My Plants Alive for Almost a Month Away
I recently purchased the self-watering wicking cord for my plants as we were going out of town for almost a month, and I didn't have anyone to water them. I was pretty skeptical about how well it would work, especially since I didn't have time to do a trial run and had to set it up the day we were leaving. I left hoping for the best.Fast forward to yesterday, we got home, and my plants were alive! The water was pretty much gone, so I think it may have run out in the last couple of days, but the plants were still alive, though a bit dry. Given my initial lack of confidence, I was pleasantly surprised. Here are a couple of tips based on my experience:1. Follow the Instructions: The instructions are very helpful in figuring out the water flow.2. Do a Trial Run: If you have time, do a trial run so you can adjust as needed.3. Adjust the Setup: If I need to use it again, I would tweak the setup to avoid running out of water and possibly send a slower flow to the smaller plants.4. Ensure Plenty of Water: Make sure you have plenty of water available. I didn't have time to get a 5-gallon bucket, but I'll make sure to grab one next time.5. Prevent Messes: Put something under your plants and water source to catch any drainage. I had something under my big plants, but not under the smaller ones, and water leaked out. It wasn't too bad, but it's something I'll adjust next time.Overall, I was very happy with the self-watering wicking cord. It exceeded my expectations and kept my plants alive during our time away.

Great for watering plants when traveling
I used this rope to water a super needy plant while away for 2 months. Worked really great! It was my first time trying it but really easy. Had to get the rope through the soil and then tie a knot out the bottom side. The rope went into a 3 gallon water jug. In hindsight that was a bit excessive it barely used maybe a gallon (per plant). In a very warm sunny room, I placed a container under the plant to catch water not knowing how fast it works, but very little water was contained and soil stayed wet but not too soggy. I'm not a scientist but this little experiment worked based on a very happy plant!!
