Best purchase ever! For cats or dogs!
We have been battling to keep our long haired cat off our bed and nothing was working. The bed was covered in hair and I was hiding the pillows under the covers and putting towels down for an easier clean up. Day one when I opened the cover the cat tore off to the other end of the house. I don’t think she’s even tried to get on the bed since. If she has I haven’t heard it and I work from home. We have a cat tree in our room so she can still sleep near us but not ruin our bed. After two weeks she loves sleeping the night in her cat tree and doesn’t try to sneak onto the bed once we fall asleep. This has worked amazing and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to keep pets dog or cat of furniture. This has also helped keep our dogs from sneaking onto the bed once we fall asleep or are too tired to make them go back to their bed.

I'VE NEVER LOVED A MASSIVE SHEET OF TIN FOIL SO MUCH.
My cat is a jerk and likes to spray my furniture (and probably the walls and floors -- I hope nobody ever comes through with a blacklight) to punish me for being away too long/not cleaning his box 70 times a day/buying the wrong type of food that was fine the day before but suddenly isn't anymore/or just because why not mess up my hundreds of dollars of furniture -- it's a Tuesday! He's ruined two couches and a bed mattress that looks like I have an incontinence issue but it's all my cat's doing. Great conversation starter. Can't wait to move so I can put it on the sidewalk and show the whole world I pee the bed at 30 years old. ANYWAY, I bought this and it's probably the most unexpectedly effective thing I've ever bought. It just lays there but it's a huge deterrent for my cat who HATES most noises but especially plasticky/foily crinkle noises. He also hates touching those types of fabrics. I rescued him when he was an adult so I have a theory that before the shelter got him, he was tossed out with his brethren and sistren (?) in a plastic grocery bag. Who knows. He hates plastic noises and bags and feeling it or seeing them, so this sheet is the best thing ever. He tried one time to pee on it, which I suspect took great courage, but I just wiped it off (!!!!!) and put it right back he hasn't touched it since. As a human I know he could literally just scoot up under it but he's a cat so he doesn't know to do that and thankfully hasn't yet. I've had this for a few months and it's now part of my evening routine to throw it over my couch before I go to bed. This was a total lifesaver. As a note, the fabric is like the metallic material they wrap marathoners in after they complete a race, so thin, foily material. It has a soft fabric backing so it's easy on your upholstery if you have leather or something.

Great Value!
I am VERY pleased with the Pet Repeller product!! And I am staying this as previous buyer of the PetzOff product, which is very similar to this furniture pad with the same "tin foil" concept to keep pets off furniture. I was very happy with PetzOff, having owned two blankets (one for couch and one for the loveseat) for at least two years. The problem was that after time a small hole developed in the tin foil which easily tore into a much larger hole. I couldn't salvage the blankets and I had to throw them away. I wanted to replace them, and as much as I liked them, I couldn't see spending another $120 ($60 ea on the PetzOff website). I saw the Pet Repeller product on amazon and thought I'd give it a shot. It was definitively worth it! The biggest difference is that PetzOff has a layer of batting under the tin foil material and the back is a fabric. When you fold PetzOff with the foil on the inside, it looks like a blanket that you can place on top of the couch when not in use. Pet Repeller doesn't have a batting layer and the back of the foil is a more rigid lining - not decorative. I guess that's why they call it a furniture "pad". But - it works and it's affordable! Pros: Effective Affordable to compared to similar products Very Big Folds Up Flat and Small for easy storage

Health hazard! Paint comes off, contaminating cats and home.
I was so happy to find this crinkly mat! My occasional couch-peeing cat hated to be near it, and my other cat thought it absolute fun! Thrilled with the solution, I bought another (and then another) to cover my bed. After a few weeks of use, the silver started coming off, revealing clear plastic. I wasn't crazy about the "Jiffy Pop" look these silver mats gave my house, so I didn't care about this cosmetic issue. But then--remember the cat that thinks these crackle mats are fun? I just found him LICKING SILVER PAINT OFF HIS PAWS...and then licking the paint off the mat, itself. These mats are health hazards. God knows what's in that paint. I wrote the seller (DBROTH), and their agent told me to contact the manufacturer, failing even to acknowledge the health concern or saying that they'd alert buyers. A very clear "not our problem". Amazon refunded me for the three mats, because the seller wouldn't: I bought these 1, 2.5, and 3 months ago, i.e. outside the 30-day returns window, and DBROTH doesn't stand by what they sell. Thank you, Amazon, that you do!

It worked [for a little while]
It's pretty simple really. I recently decided to let my 1 year old puppy out of his crate when I'm not around since he's no longer in the destructive chewing phase. Unfortunately I would now come back to him lounging on the couch, snoring like a king as if he owned the place. He isn't allowed on the couch when I'm around, and when I'm away it's no exception. I bought two of these because I have a really big sectional couch. I didn't want to immediately resort to the shocking or the noise making ones because this seemed like it'd be cheaper and honestly a less extreme solution. I've been using them 3-4 days so far and they've been great. As the description says the dog hates the noise, the look and the way it feels. Heck, I don't even want to sit on them they look like a space blanket. I now come back home and my couch is dog free. As a bonus any hair that might be floating by while I'm gone won't get on the couch either. Definitely recommend going with these first over the shocking or noise making ones since these are pretty non-intrusive and honestly having to rely on something that requires power/batteries seems like a pain I'll update the review if anything changes with my opinion, but unless my dog decides that enough is enough I don't see it changing. edit: Edited review. Unfortunately my dog is one of the ones who didn't care for the cover after he got used to it and found a way to push it out of the way so he could still get on the couch. Guess this means it's back to crate training.

Did What I Needed
I bought this because I have an elderly cat who, I believe, through dementia, forgets just where she needs to be relieving herself some times. After having her relieve herself on the not-quite-6 day-old sofa, I had to get something. I didn't want any thing that was going to shock or startle her, at her age. I have to admit, when I've had this out, she hasn't gotten up on it. Is she scared of it? Eh, I don't think so. Doesn't seem to really care about it one way or the other. I think when I put it out she can't see the sofa any more and thinks the part she wants to be on doesn't exist. She's lost a lot of her hearing so I know the noise means nothing to her. Now, my other cat, who I don't care if she gets on the furniture, seems to have a curious/terrified relationship with it. I've had this about 5 weeks so it's not brand new. However the sound scares her. When I want to sit, I just roll it up and leave it sitting on top of the sofa and when I'm done, roll it back down (learned quickly that trying to fold it and put it away neatly was a waste of time). So, it makes a lot of noise. She doesn't like that when I do it. BUT, I've caught her a few times after I've gone to bed where I hear the crinkling sound. I come out and find she's trying to lift it up and go underneath it (like a blanket on a bed). So, when she makes the sound it's okay. Me? Runs and hides. My fix was to throw a small box on top. She hasn't figured out she's big enough to move the box and go up underneath. This isn't going to make your sofa/chair look nicer and there is no way to quietly move/fold it up. But, I've been able to accomplish what I wanted to for less than $25 without causing any sudden shocks to my elderly pet and that was what I needed.

SO FAR, SO GOOD!
Not wanting to resort to even mild electric-shock devices, I finally decided to try this blanket and could not be happier with the results over the past six weeks. To no avail, I had tried all kinds of other different humane deterrents for our two kitties to try keeping them off a queen-size bed. This has worked like a charm. Each cat tried jumping on it once or twice out of curiosity and now stays off. They do not like the crackly sound that results. It is not the most attractive piece of decor in the bedroom, but I lay it completely flat with nothing else on top of it during the day and no longer walk into the bedroom to find our fur babies using the mattress as a gigantic cat bed. They are content choosing a half dozen other cat beds around the house and we humans can sleep at night without reaching for the inhaler. This may not work for every cat, but it has worked in this house. I hope this review might help someone.

It works!
I was skeptical of how the cover would work. I have cats and dogs, and I wanted to keep the cats off the sofa. they hate the dog, and recently ruined a couch because they were peeing anywhere the dog had laid. It has definitely worked to keep the cats off the couch. It worked with the dog for about 1 month. She now will TRY and sleep on the couch in the middle of the night, but the cover crinkle sound annoys her, so she doesn't stay long. Regardless, I bough the cover to keep the cats off, and so far so good!!

A great product!
Our dog has not even attempted to get up on the New Couch, while the foil blanket is in place! ( A different story if the foil blanket is off and we turn our backs.) I never thought we would see the day when he would stay off the couch!

Worth it!!
I was pretty sceptical about this product when I first saw it but I bought it as a bit of a last chance to keep our pup off the sofa! I cannot believe how this has totally worked! Before we go out we pop this on our sofa and he doesn’t even bother to try and go on it! Also it’s great as it folds down nice and small so we can pop it away when we are home. Perfect! Super easy to use and does the job

It only works until they get used to it.
it worked for a few days but once they got used to the sensation they were all over it. It helps a bit to keep the couch clean except when they burrow underneath it, which they will be doing more of this winter as the foil will keep it nice and warm under there! At least it fits the couch.
