Good Inexpensive Dual-Band
I was looking for a Baofeng UVB5 (which I had experience with and thought was pretty good for the price.. also very compact).. but it was discontinued. So after a lot of reading and videos tried this TYT UV-88, and I think it's fairly comparable, maybe even a bit better. Nicely made, feels solid.. also pretty compact. No channel knob on these, only arrows, so if you change frequencies a lot that's not so great. The dual listen works and is cool. What I ended up doing for programming is to use CHIRP first to populate all the frequencies, then load the radio into their proprietary software for other settings, then save it back to the radio... Otherwise I couldn't access everything I wanted. As far as performance (range, audio) I would say it's "pretty good". I have tried Puxing (UHF only) as well as Baofeng. My experience is that the Baofeng UV5R (the most popular one) is the worst performing, the Baofeng UVB5 (now discontinued, it seems??) is pretty good, this one (TYT UV-88) is also pretty good, maybe somewhat better than the UVB5. And the Puxing performed the best.. but not dual-band. Pretty sure the UVB5 and this UV-88 use the same chipset but some review said that the UV-88 has better front-end filtering on the receiver. I can't vouch for that but it does perform pretty well for the price. I would say, don't expect a Yaesu for $35....

Great value for money radio
It is a very capable radio with good features and it is a great piece of equipment for the price. It has good sound quality and good reception, even at the level of more expensive radios

They work
There was a lot of interference. They were decent radios. But you get what you pay for.

Great little radio
I love these radios!!!! I have 3 of them, and they all work flawlessly. One is my carry radio, one I gave to my Grandson, and one I keep at work. Can’t go wrong with this radio if you’re on a budget.

This package doesn't come with a programming cable
This package doesn't come with a programming cable. It's like $10 just for the cable on its own. I might as well buy another radio for $32 that comes with the cable. Already threw away the box so I can't return it!
