PETZL Orange GRIGRI + Plus Climbing Belay Device

This is one of the best belay devices on the market if not the best. It is really easy to use with minimal instruction and has great built in safety features like it’s anti panic release. It has a really smooth operation making your climbing just that much easier. I backed mine up with a prusik after some videos on the system and couldn’t be happier with using it as my main device. I’m sure other styles work wonderfully when compared side by side but this is the go to belay device hands down.

My fiancé and I really enjoy our time that we have spent with the GriGri plus. We used a traditional atc in the past which suited us fine; however, I knew I wanted to later pursue sport climbing, so I wanted to get used to using a more sophisticated assisted braking device. The Plus definitely is definitely more for beginners to the device, and is ultimately very forgiving, without managing to really mess with a good thing. The two settings are great for basically just if you are starting out using it for only top roping and does a fine job at gripping the rope. I honestly thought the anti panic feature would be a huge headache, but if it locks up on you, all you need to do is pull back a little further and you’re going again. You always see people at the gym using them when you start out and you really realize how nice they are when you get to know one for a couple of sessions.

Excelente dispositivo para dar seguro, lo compre en julio 2025 y hasta el dia de la fecha lo estoy usando (uso poco frecuente) muy efectivo y seguro, hay que aprender a usarlo y entenderlo leyendo instrucciones de uso y complementado con un instructor de escalada, lo recomiendo si tenes experiencia en este tipo de dispositivos o similares, si no tenes exp, adquirir uno mas simple hasta tener exp

That in my opinion the "simple version, not the + might be better and definitely not worth paying more for..

I recommend this for it's performance, performance varies by rope size. Weight is light, orange is a nice color, quality is known to be great, comfortable to use vs an ATC, for the value....it your life it's definitely worth the price you pay for it!

Fast 16 Jahre lang war ich immer der Überzeugung nichts könne je besser sein als der gute alte Tube. Die Sicherheit bei sachgemäßem Gebrauch und das Gefühl für die Abseilgeschwindigkeit, die Leichtgängigkeit beim Seil geben / einholen, kein Jul2, kein Megajul, keine eigenartigen Neuerscheinungen konnten dem simplen Metallklumpen das Wasser reichen. Dann kam der Grigri+ In der Kletterhalle sprach mich tatsächlich ein anderer Kletterer darauf an, dass viele Hallen schon über ein Tube-Verbot nachdenken, da es scheinbar immer wieder schwere Unfälle gäbe, besonders mit Kletterneulingen. Ich habe dem nicht wirklich Beachtung geschenkt, bis ich einmal selbst mit einem absoluten Neuling in die Halle gegangen bin. Natürlich wurde das gesamte Equipment erklärt und vorgezeigt. In geringer Höhe wurde der Umgang nochmal ausprobiert bevor ich dann selbst richtig hochklettern konnte und dann geschah es. Beim Abseilen merkte ich wie es immer schneller wurde. Ein rascher Blick nach unten gab mir zu verstehen, dass mein Partner mit der Situation überfordert war. Das Seil glitt immer schneller durch den Tube und er hatte sichtlich Angst hinzugreifen. Ich schrie quasi im freien Fall "RUNTER ZIEHEN!" nach unten und tatsächlich! Im letzten Moment fasste er sich ein Herz und griff zu. Auf etwa 5 Meter Höhe trafen wir uns in der Mitte, gefühlt mit einem Puls von 200. Man geht nicht immer mit Anfängern klettern, das ist mir klar, doch es kann IMMER passieren, dass jemand einen Aussetzer hat und ich kann getrost behaupten, dass es nicht schön ist in diesem Moment mit seinem Leben am anderen Ende des Seils zu baumeln. Der Grigri+ ist ein Umgewöhnung vom Tube, sogar eine Große. Das absolute Sicherheitsplus inklusive Panikfunktion ist mir diesen vergleichsweise geringen Aufwand jedoch allemal wert. Wir haben es jetzt schon mehrfach ausprobiert: Es ist nahezu unmöglich mit dem Grigri+ einen Fehler zu machen! Selbst wenn man die Bremshand flasch positioniert blockiert das Grigri+ zuverlässig das Seil und wartet geduldig darauf, dass jemand den Hebel betätigt. Das kleine Ding kostet locker das 8fache von einem Tube aber selten wars mir das Geld so wert wie hier. Wenn man fast alle Eventualitäten ausschließen möchte ist das Grigri+ ein absoluter No Brainer!
