The rice is perfect and easy to make. The taste is delicious. The best rice I ever used. The price is even cheap for the texture that it has.

Medium grain rice does not clump together like short grain, because medium grain rice that has less starch than short grain (sushi rice). With long grain rice having the least starch (Basmati). Cooking time and amount of water required is the same. When cooking rice, at the end of the cooking time, you need to fluff up the rice and let it rest for couple of minutes.

I have a Zojirushi rice cooker. This stuff seems like it was made for it. The rice comes out with the perfect texture for a lot of things. It's really smooth. You can feel each rice kernel as you eat it. The bag says to just use the rice cooker's white rice settings, and that's exactly what I did. It came perfect. This also makes very good fried rice, or any kind of rice that you cook with day old rice. I have made both fried rice and a Cajun blackened rice dish. Both came out great. The blackened rice dish was just rice, reheated in a pan sauce made from reverse searing some spicy chicken breasts in oil with a few other things added in. It's something I make sometimes when I sous vide chicken breasts. This rice probably worked better with that dish than any I've tried before. I'm definitely going to go all out and make some dirty rice with this. I think it will work great. You can also just make plain old white rice with this. I did that at first, and just added some MSG, soy sauce and furikake on top. It was quite good. True sushi rice is better for that though. It's also more expensive though.

What can I say, this is a 15 pound bag of medium grain rice. It is really good rice. We don't store rice for my husband and I to eat, but our dogs do eat quite a bit. They prefer sushi rice and have a brand preference, but as long as I cook it with extra water, medium grain rice can have the sticky consistency they love. Shirakiku rice is really good easy to cook rice. I use a Zojirushi rice cooker and have no problems. I do store the rice in the freezer in 2 pound freezer safe bags for ease of use. The rice does freeze well after cooking - simply cook, let cool, put in freezer safe bags and freeze *I like to freeze flat to save room*. When ready to eat either thaw the entire bag in the fridge, or break of a portion and microwave or thaw on the stove with a teaspoon of broth or water. So easy!
