Brief history of Ireland
Nice brand new book. I expected something with amusing tid bits of Ireland. I got a lovely brief, well written history. it is SO easy to read and SO helpful for a true beginner in Irish history. Alongside, I am listening to a great book on CD "How the Irish Saved Civilization." Much more detail.

Enjoyable and Easy Readโค๏ธ
Highly recommend. An easy read yet concise and complete. Many history books spend far too much time dwelling on confusing historical narratives for my liking. If you are interested in Irish history this is your easy reader book. Thanks to the author for condensing the Irish historical facts.

Good way to learn some important moments in Irish history.
I love this little book. The other reviews stated that it is an easy read with lots of history worth knowing. I 100% agree that I have learned a lot about Irish history and Iโm ab halfway through.I would make a couple of improvements/suggestions. 1). I donโt know how to pronounce the irish names and so forth like from the old celtic/gaelic language, so for me it slows me down to try to make up a pronunciation. That would help me keep track of the historical figures. 2). I would greatly appreciate illustrations such as maps, photos, or drawings of things mentioned such as some of the neolithic metalwork artistry, or places that are mentioned often. 3). Sometimes I feel as though the โchaptersโ could be organized differently, or referenced by page numbers. I often find myself looking back through the pages to reread a particular section.โAddendum: there is a brief guide to pronunciation, and an index, so Iโve been making it hard on myself. Therefore, I give it 4 1/2 stars!Overall, Iโm impressed with this book insofar as I have learned so much from such a small book.

Not what I expected
This little book did not show me anything new. The book lists 101 things however some items, example of the potato famine, took up four of the lists numbers. If you know some Irish history, you are really not going to get anything from this book however I gave it 3 stars as it appears well researched.

PERFECT SUMMARY
I have been to Ireland twice now and was getting curious about this country and its people. This book offers exactly what I was looking for; an overview of Irish history without too many details. Well written, very easy to read . Such a pity no french translation exists, I would like to offer it to my french friends !
