Installed this in 30 min, and couldn't believe how simple it was. Wish I had done this years ago. Holds around 11-13 tablets (the 3" kind). I live in Las Vegas and was worried if the sun would burn off the chlorine too quickly for it to keep up, but it's doing fine - and this is in the dead of summer where we get well over 100 degrees and no clouds for months. I only have the setting to halfway, so it could do more if I wanted. For reference, my pool is 19,000 gallons, and I run the filter 8 hours a day. I filled this up before going on vacation (12 tablets) and after 16 days, it used about 7 of the tablets and the pool looks great. Good chlorine numbers, and no algae. Nice to be able to leave home and know my pool wont be green when I get home!

Purchased this as a replacement for one destroyed by the winter freeze. I believe water got into the unit and was blocked by the ball/coupling on the outflow end. When I started up the pool in the spring the inflow side was leaking, and then basically popped off when I Inspected it. This was the exact replacement part, easy to install, and works great. Side note- keep an eye on the black connector tubing between the pool returns and the unit as it got brittle after a few seasons on us and cracked during replacement. Luckily the kit includes new tubing which I installed, but it would be bad to have that tubing crack and have the pump running and drain your pool!

I've had in-ground pools for almost 30 years and have always relied on Hayward chlorinators. They are long lasting, hold up to UV and if any part is damaged, the parts are readily available. The inside of the container will loose its smooth surface after a few years and look like rough sandpaper (but not the inside of the cover strangely enough), but it still functions fine. The viton o-ring in the cover will need to be replaced after a few years. Use pool lube/ all silicone lube on the o-ring to help keep the seal working and pliable. DO NOT use vaseline or any oil based product to avoid a chemical reaction with the chlorine. Biggest headache was the o-ring stretching over time, making the cover difficult to fully close and hard to open (change o-ring when that happens). The black tubing will become brittle and blister after several years and the sealing ferrule in the nut at the end of the tubing will get brittle and crack over time, but they all can easily be replaced. All required tubing, saddles, clamps and instructions to install it into your piping system came with it. A full charge of 12-13 slow dissolving tablets will last me about 2 weeks before needing a refill on a 27,000 gallon pool. I had an inline Hayward for a few years (very nearly the same) but actually prefer this off-line style as it introduces less water flow restriction into the piping system, yet delivers adequate chlorine to my pool. A simple twist of the knob adjusts the amount of chlorine added to the water - I typically had it on full during the middle of the summer. I remove the chlorinator and tubing at the end of the season, (along with my pump and filter) empty and rinse a few times with water, drain dry and set aside for the winter in an unheated shed. Helps keep everything looking good for 15+ years. Reason for only 4 stars is the required changing of the o-ring and tubing every couple of years but that's virtually unavoidable with this chemical. Spare parts easy to find on Amazon and locally, parts easy to change, just wish it wasn't necessary.

I usually use floating table dispensers in my above ground pool, and am always struggling to keep the right amount of chlorine in a 10 year old pool so that algae does not start. This year decided to try this chemical feeder. Wish I had done so earlier. Simple to install, easy to use. I check my pool now every 4 or 5 days, rather than daily. If I go out of town, no worries, the feeder keeps everything perfect. Love it. Do recommend searching out chlorinator fix for an alternate lid for this model - best mod to make this super easy to use.

We have had our pool for 3 years after we purchased our home. Didn’t know anything about them other than a brief crash course from the sellers of our home. The first 2 years were a pain in the butt trying to keep up with chemicals. We were always short on chlorine and always fighting algae and clogged filters but we only had the floating chlorine devices. My uncle recommended getting something like this to keep things simple. So we got this one to open our pool this year and so far I’m impressed. I have it set to the max right now and will adjust if needed but we have had a couple of decent rains in the past week and no algae and all the chemical levels have been stable. Install was pretty simple. I spent a little money and got rid of all the hoses that were band clamped on the filter and pool pump and replaced them with PVC pipe and quick disconnect couplings before I installed this. Installation was very easy. Mark some spots, drill some holes and clamp in place. Just have to check it every so often to see if I’m low on tablets. So this may end of being one of the best purchases I ever make for our pool and maybe I can start to enjoy it a little more.

The chlorinator that Garfield Pool sent me DID NOT work! The Seller (Garfield Pool) gave me two options...take it to a Hayward Repair Center, or send the product back to them...with me paying the return postage. I advised them I wasn't near a repair center plus I was not interested in having a repaired chlorinator when I paid for a new one. They then said my only alternative was to return it (with me paying postage) and they would check it out and If, in their opinion , it worked, then they would send it back to me and i could pay for return postage again, or they would charge me a 25% restocking fee. They refused my request to simply replace the chlorinator. I sent the chlorinator back (paying $20.17 postage). They declared the chlorinator worked fine. In addition, Garfield in an email to Amazon, TWICE told them that I agreed with them that the chlorinator worked perfect! How ABSURD....why would I send back a fully functioning chlorinator.The seller also stated to me over the phone...."Go ahead and file a claim with Amazon....I deal with them ALL the time...AND I ALWAYS WIN!". HOW ARROGANT, I SIMPLY DO NOT TRUST GARFIELD! I have owned a pool for over 35 years and this kind of chlorinator for over 15 years....I know when this product works and when it does not work.......the chlorinator that Garfield sent to me simply DID NOT WORK! The seller only gave me credit for 40% of my purchase price....OUTRAGEOUS! I turned to Amazon for help. Needless to say, Amazon came through....they are extremely customer friendly! Dealing with Garfield Pool is an online shoppers NIGHTMARE! If you have a problem, they are extremely arrogant, rude and dishonest to deal with......they are solely interested in $$$$$$$ and NOT customer satisfaction. Final thought.....DO NOT DEAL WITH GARFIELD POOL......SHOP ELSEWHERE....EVEN IF IT COSTS A FEW DOLLARS MORE!

Honestly, took no more than 20 mins to install. Put in 8-9 pucks and we'll see what happens and adjust the flow as required. We own a super large inground pool, not sure yet on the right settings for us as over chlorinating may damage the liner, too little gets the water green in no time. I so wish we bought this before, and for the time saving, hassle-free and algae removal products we had to purchase, it's definitely worth it. This is gonna save hours of maintenance and worry-free when going on vacation with nobody to attend the pool
