Product Description The re-release of the acclaimed 1993 album from Gene Loves Jezebel. Contains the hit Josephina and a previously unreleased bonus track. About the Artist Probably the most successful English alternative band to blend the sensibilities of American pop rock and English Gothic, their music broke through traditional radio barriers. They influenced many of mainstream alternative acts of the late 80's and 90's.

Terrible Reissue Pressing
This is a great album, but look for an older pressing. I bought and returned 2 copies of this album because there were skips and jumps in two of the tracks, even on multiple CD players. Since they occurred in the same spots in the same tracks of both discs I tried, it's obviously a flaw in the pressing process of this 2017 reissue. Save your time and money and scour the used market for an original run.

In My Top 20 Of All Time
I didn't learn about these guys until 1993 when I saw them live in Atlanta, GA, and I was hooked when I heard them perform Josephina live. I immediately went out and bought this CD and then later also grabbed Kiss of Life. The style that you hear with their music is something like no other - kind of like an ethereal mystical rock music that takes you to magical places while still appealing to your rocking riffs side. I love it!! Try listening to this album with the lights down low and the stereo cranked. I like the progression of the music as it winds down from a rocking beginning with Josephina and then gradually getting more mellow as you get closer to the final tracks; with Voice in the Dark being a perfect ending song to this masterpiece of an album. I don't see this as being "poppy" as someone else stated, as opposed to Desire and others that followed this, and I do agree that it has a feel of Cult's Love album in it - just a touch. Heavenly Bodies - A Great album and I highly recommend it!

TOGETHER WITH KISS OF LIFE, MY FAVORITE GLJ RECORD
I've been following these guys since the year they released this album (1993). It was very successful at the time; songs like Break The Chain, Josephina or Sweet Sweet Rain were daily played in every radio station or disco. A decade has passed since then but I kept on listening to those songs with the same enthusiasm... and the same applies to the rest of the album; I enjoy all 11 tracks - with highlights on the 10th, "Heavenly Body", one of the favourite songs of my life!Once enjoying those mentioned songs that came out as singles, it's impossible to resist to American Dreamer, Down and Rosary. Last but not least, 3 lovely and simple songs: Any Anxious Colour, In A Lonely Place or Voice In The Dark. After this album I started to find out Jay Aston's talent, both as singer and songwriter... but also as an artist that loves to play live - I believe he knows my country deeper than me, as you can confirm by the large amount of live material GLJ have been releasing over the years. Great Band!

Mysterious, Wonderful
Everyone knows the $2.99 bucket at a music store. The one featuring a plethora of Billy Squier and generic old school rap and rock artists you would never care to know. Sometimes, it is necessary to plow through the muck...maybe you'll find something special. Something like "Heavenly Bodies". This is a rare album that genuinely creates a surreal state of mind. It opens with "American Dreamer", a powerhouse that propels you into its moody journey of an enlightened mind. This is a sadly underrated album. I have a hard time seeing how tracks like "Joshephina", "Sweet Sweet Rain" and its title track went unnoticed. Besides one or two songs of filler and some pretentious lyrics, (what great rock album is without them, though?) "Heavenly Bodies" is a beautiful, catchy album.

underappreciated band
Although I'm an 80's metalhead, I really have an appreciation for this band. They have a sound that's difficult to describe but if you can imagine Bang Tango mixed with 80's alternative type rock(not the annoying REM kind but the Church kind), and add the Cult's "Love" album, you might get Gene Loves Jezebel. Heavy bass and almost sort of dance music added in. Very unique!
