If I’m using this for jigging and just want to get to a certain depth is it easy enough to disengage the line from the counter?

It’s easy enough to disengage the line off the counter. I bought this to mark my line for Bluefin Tuna (100, 200, and 300 ft marks) Not sure what you are fishing for but might consider to use this to mark your line and then remove the counter entirely when fishing. Tight lines!

Does anyone know if this could be used to measure rope (climbing ropes)?

I dont think so. it will be to delicate, it is for fishing line and climbing rope will be to thick.

Not accurate

Nice product, I intend to use this as rope counter for our 1-2mm dynema cords, but there is no way to calibrate it. Example I have 10.9m rope but it reads only 9.6m

works very well i never know how much line i have on my spools and now i can keep record of how much it has and how much is left on spool i never use a whole spool to fill a reel ..the display is in feet be nice if it was in yards get out calculator. grips to spin or cast rods fine.its well worth the money.
