Dont waste your money
Like nba live 2003 Yao Ming is not in 2k3 either. There are Some players in 2k3 you can't trade or cut. Whats sucks is the numbers change when you sign or trade a player. Your best bet is buying NBA street vol. 2

this game is pretty cool though
I mentioned this game a lot. NBA 2K3 on Xbox, well, this game is pretty cool though. I played basketball for ages and Unified sports at Ridge High School.

The best version of the NBA to hit the console yet
Okay here is my review and 1,000 words is not enough to cover this game. Bottom line here is great game with only a few things stopping it, best basketball sim I have ever played.Pros: The gameplay is very realistic, not perfect but damn close too it. There are a nice amount of options here, not as many extras as Live, but will sastify most people. The shot percentage is realistic, no one shoots 70% every night as a team. Some indviduals wil do that, but not the team The graphics have to be seem to believed, lots of little touches here that just look great. Some of the colors are off, but oh well. This game is challenging and you will have to lear how to use the plays, special moves, mid air shot adjustments, etc to your advantage. Okay not for the bad parts, not many here. The overall pace of the game need to be faster, not seroid fast, just faster. The passing is tricky to do by the stick, so I use the button. The passes have a hait of lofting and that leads to easy steals. The turbo needs to be more effective, does not reefllike you move all that much, but I did notice that each position/guy turbo works a little different. Needs overall work, but has exceptions. The guys will stop moving after you pass it to them, not al the time but the majority. There are exceptions here also, just is annoying more than anything else.Overall this is the best basketball sim I have ever played on a console and no basketball should be dissapointed in it. It takes a littel time to get used too, especially for Live players, but the true basketball fan will love the way it plays.

Best ball game, with some flaws.
NBA 2K3 is still the most realistic bball simulation out there. If you like arcade action, get Live, but if you enjoy strategy and actually fighting for a good shot, this is your game.THE GOOD: Amazing depth. Great franchise mode, tons of customizable options (AI, camera angles, almost anything that happens on court can be tweaked). The graphics are solid, as is the control and the sound. Tons of replay value, a very realistic ball game.THE BAD: The passing game is atrocious. Players will often lob passes to a team mate that's 5 feet away, and forget about running a fast break--players tend to stop when catching a pass. The opposing team still shoots a very high FG%, and the opposing PG will usually torch you for 30 pts. I also dislike the lack of realism in dunks, since I once saw the CPU pull of a 360 jam in traffic on a 7foot center with... 40 year old, 6-ft John Stockton. Players also tend to lose their dribble when attempting a juke, which is annoying.THE UGLY: the commentators often say the wrong things, like "Great three point basket!" after you nail a dunk. The menus aren't intuitive at first, and the shameless ESPN plugs are REALLY annoying. I don't need to be reminded to watch Sportscenter, thank you very much.

'Live' is Dead...
Here it is: NBA 2K (the series) has been the best B-Ball action on the market since it debuted on the Dreamcast. Trust me - as a basketball fan, and owner of both series' titles - 'Live' has just run its course. Not bad for a series that started way back in '94. But just as 'Live' was such a huge step ahead of its predecessors,... NBA 2K3 is way past the EA flagship... NBA Live (and Madden, for that matter) hasn't done annthing past changing the rosters/uniforms, beefing up the graphics a bit yearly, and adding a new feature here and there. EA, or someone else, will have to come from an entirely new and innovative angle to catch SEGA. ...Okay, now the game. This game can be a bit too real at times. ...The juggling of passes when they're caught is a good idea in itself - and realistic - but it happens too often in this game. Also, players tend to stop to catch a pass rather than catching on the fly. It's not as bad as earlier versions, but not as flowing as last year's game. That's about all the gripes I have. ...The gameplay is phenomenal. The animation and realism - from the collisions to the dunking/rim-hanging... to the reaction after getting the ball ripped in traffic - nice. Diving out of bounds to try and keep the ball in play, altering your shot/layup/dunk in mid-air ...makes the game just too much fun - especially when playing with another player as opposed to the CPU. ... Rebounding has been drastically improved, and ...players actually play up to their real-life counterparts, when you're playing against them or simulating the game. If you're playing the Lakers, you know which 2 you need to constantly watch...

Gets Better & Better Every Year
I picked this up the day of release and it's the most played game I have right now. Game play is untouchable compared to the other fakes on the market. I'm an XBOX Beta Tester (user tag:whoSneXt) and besides NFL2k3 and MotoGP, this is the only game I play the majority of my time online. No Lagging, smooth gameplay and the best simulation basketball game yet. Abilty to alter shots in mid-air, cross over dribbles are better, pivot moves, fake passes, it's all here this go round. This is recommended highly to all of those who wasted thier time and money on the arcade style play of NBA Live. Not knocking Live, but 2k3 is more of a "real" play action "sim" game. Right now my record online isn't too good but it will be even better by the time Nov.15 comes and the rest of the country gets the chance to experience Xbox Live.Pros:Great Franchise Mode (even international players in free agent)40 post moves200 different dunks110 offensive/defensive playsStreet courts are backOnline roster updatesonline player upgrade (hair, shoes)cons:whats up with the pass fumbling? No more long passes down court to get the shot off quickly. majority of the time they will fumble it around before they get the shot offoNe
