The suction cup for the transducer sticks well to aluminum boats. My only frustration is the portable carrying case is not very well designed. The back has a zipper opening to expose the battery for attaching the power cables and for charging the battery. I find the opening too small and I can't get my fingers inside to attach the cables to the battery--so I pull the whole sonar out of the carrying case to access the battery.
