Did any of you travel with it as a hand luggage?

The product dimensions are larger than the allowed dimensions for most major airlines. I ordered this item in order to measure it myself to make sure. It is being returned since it is too large. The dimensions are 23X15X11. Larger than United's 22X14X9 and also KLM's 21X14X10. Didn't want to test this in line to board and being told I have to check it.

Why is the 51 the cheapest if it's larger than the other ones?

I am not 100% sure, but I assumed that there is not much of a demand for the 51 since it is so large, so the 45D sells for more since it is more desirable. They are awesome bags, but they are very large. I purchased the 45D and it was so big I ended up returning it. I was thinking it would be around the size of an average backpack, but this thing was huge. So, I can only imagine how big the 51 is. If you need the storage space though, it is a very well built and durable bag. Has a very stiff shell and seems like it would stand up to the test of time. I wish they had a smaller version, because I think all of Vanguard's equipment is top notch, but I ended up getting a Lowepro that better fit what I needed.

Does the canon 600mm f4 is l fit in this pack with the hood on, and the camera attached as well? thanks

Yes, with the hood reversed. It's a very nice bag.

How will the rain cover fit the bag with a tripod or drone attached to it?

It will not. The rain cover just fits over the backpack. So, if you have a tripod bulging out the top & side of the backpack, the rain cover will NOT cover the tripod. If your drone is on the inside, you are fine. BUT... same thing, IF it is bulging out the back, the the backpack might become too big for the rain cover to cover over the backpack. You could go to Walmart or order thru Amazon some spray on waterproof "scotchgard" & spray the outside of the backpack & make it water repellent. But that will NOT help the drone or the tripod.
