Powerful and easy to install
Purchased these speakers to hit them in a hair salon. They are powerful little speakers and are surprisingly loud for their size! Very easy to install, and can easily swap out the speaker cables for longer ones if needed

Impressed.
Seriously impressive these. I have them running off a Sonos Amp. Good bass especially for ceiling speakers.

Very impressed with these for the price
Good bass when installed in celling. impressive sound for the price

Good sound
Good sounding speakers, which fit nicely. I'm no electrician so I had to have a friend install them, but they sound great. Great for listening to music when doing the dishes.

Good sound from these dual-cone speakers.
The sound from ceiling speakers can vary in quality because there's no guarantee that the ceiling space they go into is acoustically good. So what I look for is a speaker that's happy to produce high quality sound without relying on the enclosure to modify the output quality, especially in terms of bass response. So before installing these in my kitchen/diner ceiling I wired them up and put them back into the cardboard box they came in for my test. The only thing I did while listening was to hold them down firmly in the box to stop any rattling. I am impressed with the really nice sound I got. I used a variety of tracks, from classical, pop, jazz, electronica and reggae sources and they handled the wide band of frequencies really well.I already had speakers of the same diameter in my ceiling so it was simple to swap them out for these. I wasn't impressed with the "user-guide" though, as it had very little fitting advice. Before fitting it was necessary to remove the white mesh grilles so that the fixing screws were exposed. They're a very tight push-fit over the speaker bodies. To do this without scratching the paint it was necessary to poke the blunt end of a pencil through the single hole on the rear of the frame to loosen the grille from behind, which could then be pulled out by hand. This revealed the cross-head screws which would tighten the brackets once the speaker was fully inserted into the ceiling cutout. Before doing that I had to attach the speaker wires from my amplifier (already run above the ceiling surface and marked + and - for correct phasing) to the speaker terminals. These are the spring-push type and very easy to connect, holding the wire ends firmly. Pushing the speakers up flush into the ceiling with one hand I turned the fixing screws clockwise with the other hand. This swings the brackets out from the rim of the speaker to grip the ceiling and pull it tight. (To remove the speakers it's just necessary to turn them anti-clockwise which reverses the action and releases the speakers after a few turns).Once fitted all I had to do was refit the grilles by pushing them back on. Removing them in future will require care with a very small flat screwdriver to ease them off, as the small hole inside won't be accessible.I'me very pleased with the results. My ceiling is well constructed with no resonating areas, so the sound is firm with a satisfying bass and a broad frequency range. High levels of volume are handled well, making it easy to match to the chosen sound source. As the speakers are rated at 320W at 8 Ohms they can handle the output of quite powerful amplifiers (100W per channel in my case) without problems. The quality of construction is good, with all the crossover components mounted on the speaker's rear surface, hidden in the ceiling. The grilles cover the sight of the dual-cone driver and don't seem to reduce the sound quality at all. Two lengths of thinnish speaker wire are included, which I didn't use and any prefer a thicker cable for best results. The price is competitive and the value good.

Beast speakers to make audio system in home
These ceiling speaker are beast amongst all wall/ceiling speakers. Very powerful power output guarantee loud sound.Despite look these are extremely easy to wire as long you have bluetooth module already in home. These speakers are passive speakers which means you cannot connect them directly to power, doesn’t make sense anyway. You need to purchase separate bluetooth power amplifier box. I bought it from Herdio website for $29.99 which is equivalent of £24 based on paypal conversion rate. It is nod bad price considering that it will handle 320W (160W x 2) of power and provide bluetooth connectivity. With connection with your phone or bluetooth radio this makes amazing audio system for your house. My plan is to install them in bathroom and enjoy music while taking bath. Always been dreaming about this.Fitting them in ceiling is very easy. All you have to do is cutout hole corresponding to diameter of inner cycle of speaker or refer to manual. Then with 4 buckles fit it into hole in ceiling and tighten screws. With bluetooth power amplifier from Herdio you gonna end up with regular power socket which is super easy since you don’t have to hardwire it to house grid.I love these speaker and in my opinion they are worth the money.

Decent sounding speakers
Flat mounted speakers which I'm using on my 7.1 channel set up as high rears.Quality is surprisingly good. when you try them out out of situ they lack bass but they appear to use the cavity in the celling to create the base and the sound complete changes.Installation was quite easy. i already had the cables chased in the walls and ceilings ready for the top rear speakers, from there is was two 8 inch wholes in the plaster board and wire them together, easy as two wires in each speaker.Nice sound comes out of them once they are up but one word of warning. As it uses the ceiling to create the bass it does mean you get a lot of bleed though sound to the room above. But lets be honest, you didn't think they would just fire down right?Nice little speakers

Herdio customer support don't even know their own product ..?
Ok, so i bought these as a cheap-ish ceiling install solution for my new bathroom. I have fitted these type of speakers before (i.e. Niles brand) and went ahead and purchased these based on the positive reviews, here on Amazon.Unboxing, I noticed (with the grilles removed) there are two sliding blue switches... I was surprised to see those as they are normally associated with high-end speakers, and are used as a 'tweeter switch' to adjust the high frequency output of the loudspeaker to compensate for room acoustics.Moving the switch position reduces the tweeter output by around 3 dB to compensate for bright rooms (tile or wood floors, spare furnishing, tall ceilings). Moving the switch to the + position increases the tweeter output by 3 dB to compensate for absorptive rooms (carpeting, lots of drapery, plush furniture, etc.).The other switch would be used for DIALOG COMPENSATION. This switch provides additional definition at critical midrange frequencies where the human voice is reproduced. This switch is generally used only for home theater center speaker applications.Since the included instruction manual made no reference whatsoever to the two blue sliding switches... I went to Herdio customer support for advice. My question to them was,"Hi, could you please tell me what the two sliding blue switches are for, on your HCS818 speakers ? thanks".The reply I got was quite funny, but then made me concerned... i.e. this is what they said..."Thank you for your reaching out. They are only decorative. No practical use. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact us."..HUH ? .."for decoration and serve no practical use"....? seriously ?Astonished at their reply, I again asked them (based on my current knowledge of similar switches on other speakers..), "but the switches ARE active and wired directly to the circuit board. Are you certain they are only decorative? I have other speakers with similar switches and their purpose is to change midrange tone on the tweeter, and a crossover for bass, and so I thought these switches acted similarly… Please advise".they then replied...,"I paid close attention to your question. After communication with technicians, it is determined that the function of the blue button is the same as you said. Sorry for the trouble and inconvenience caused to you. Have a good day!"So, now I'm not very happy with the customer support... I mean.. c'mon.. how can they not know what the switches are for....?but hey, regardless of all that, at least they work, the switches to make subtle changes to the sound and so i have to assume what Herdio experts have told me to be true..(eventually).. it's just a pity their own staff haven't a clue.. and some kind of labelling on the switches would have been useful, along with some kind of mention in the user manual (or website for that matter)... it seems as though they completely forgot to mention it...anywhere..!The sound is "ok" on a bench test and I expect (hope and pray) better, once fitted into the ceiling.for reference, I suggest leaving the switches in their default position for optimal sound. But you may want to experiment yourself once installed. They do feel cheaply made and I know i could have found better quality speakers for the same money I paid for these.hope info helps others decide.....[ UPDATE ]Dropping my star rating to 2 stars after noticing a tweeter wasn’t functioning on one of the speakers due to some shoddy soldering workmanship! A wire was hanging off the tweeter! Only for the fact I am skilled at soldering was I able to make a repair, otherwise these would have been returned to Amazon![UPDATE #2]Just wanted to add that the seller very kindly sent me a replacement f.o.c. after reading my review, and I wanted to say thank you for the kind gesture.

Pretty good speakers
Easy to install and the sound is pretty good. Probably not as good as Bosh but we cannot complain having them in our two rooms around the house. We have replaced 4 old speakers we had for 22 years that changed colour from white to yellow, and didn't look good on our ceiling.
