California Gold 3 Clay Bar Complete Kit, 3 80-gram Clay Bars, 07240

This was not my first experience using this clay kit as I have been using Mother's clay to detail the paint on my cars since I first learned about the advantages of using clay on a car's finish back in the late 1990's. Body and paint shops have been using clay for decades but Mother's brand brought the advantages of clay to remove paint contaminates to the gerneral public and I'm thankful they did. The before and after difference in the feel of the car's finish is amazing. I would never have believed the product claim of removing surface impurities until I tried it for myself. By way of example, I can stand the instant detailer (used to lubricate the clay) on the finish before using the clay and the bottle will stay in place. After using the clay, I can place the bottle in the same location and it won't stay in place. The finish is so smooth that nothing will stay in place, even something as light as a micro-fiber towel just slides off the finish. The clay treatment will not remove surface imperfections like swirl marks or small scratches but it prepares the finish for the next steps in a good paint detail job. I usually follow the clay with a polishing compound and then seal the finish with a ceramic "wax" to protect it from UV rays and the onslaught of chemical and mineral contaminats that are always present in the enviornment. Modern car finishes are very tough but if you want them to last its still important to clean and protect them every year or so. My car is a 2009 and is not stored in a garage but it still looks and feels almost showroom new thanks, in part, to this great product.

My car recently went to the repair shop because it was getting fixed after i hit a rock and dented my front bumper. After i got it back my car paint felt to rough and like sandpaper. I dont know what happened but most likely my car got oversprayed from the paint shop. My paint felt horrible. I was extremely upset but googling i found this clay car the could possibly help.!! And i was truly shocked at how amazing it worked, my paint felt and looked like the day i got it out the dealership new! 5 stars!!! I clay bar my entire car. But i did need an extra spray lubricant

Got the hard water spots off of my car

First off, not any sort of car expert here, so take this review for what it is, some random person's opinion. I used this product on 2011 Nissan Rogue with factory black paint (bad choice for central fl btw) that hadn't been properly waxed in far too long so going into it I knew the paint had its issues I didn't expect the bar to fix. THIS WILL NOT REMOVE SCRATCHES SWIRLS ETC. My goal was to get a smooth, clean surface to then lay on a few layers of wax to protect what was left of the finish. If you are using this on a new/newer car with a well maintained surface you might have a different experience than I did. I washed then did half the car with the included spray, following the directions, working in small sections, wiping the area clean after, etc. This produced a noticeably smoother finish to the car but left an oily residue behind after drying. Maybe I was heavy handed with the spray, but I couldn't seem to get a "clean" result without having to wash the car after. I did the other half of the car using clean water and car wash soap instead of the detailing spray. I followed the same procedure as before. This method gave me the same smooth finish and it was residue-free after drying. After rewashing and looking over the finish, both methods appear to produce the same results in the end with no noticeable variation to the touch or look. The bar process made applying the wax much easier and quicker too. I was very happy with the results this produced. The finish is very smooth to the touch with a good shine, especially considering what I started with.

I was skeptical of this product, especially after my neighbor, a car fanatic, warned me never to use it. But after extensive research I learned that this seemed to be the stuff that everyone who was serious about maintaining their car's finish raved about, so I decided to give it a shot. I'm really glad I did because after using it, my car's finish looks like it did on the showroom floor. (I later found out my neighbor used it incorrectly - without the spray lubricant). My three primary concerns were: 1) it would damage or abrade the finish, 2) it would peel up the paint, and 3) it would be difficult and a pain to use. Not only did this product not harm my car's finish in any way, but it REALLY WORKED! And best of all, it required minimal effort - it's much easier than taking off paste wax. After a few passes with the rubbing spray and the clay bar (you use them together) all the contaminants on the surface were gone. You could literally see old, stubborn road tar and tree sap flecks - blackened from years of sunlight - disappearing with each swipe. You want your car's paint to feel as smooth as the windshield - this product is how you get that. Just follow the directions. Use the spray that comes with it. Plain water doesn't cut it. Also, don't be afraid to use a little elbow grease to get some of the more stubborn containments up; as my confidence grew using the product, I realized I could use moderate pressure to work on the most heavily soiled areas and the bar did not harm the surface in any way. And while the package says it's good for several uses, I'd consider each bar a single-use item. It comes with two bars, and after the first one I'd say I used about half the spray anyway. But this is not something you'll need to do but maybe once a year (unless you consistently park under trees), so I don't consider getting two applications out of a single product purchase too shabby. One final caveat: you should wax your car immediately after using this. I used regular old Turtle Wax T-223 Super Hard Shell Paste Wax - 9.5 oz. and then followed it up with a coat of Turtle Wax T-465 ICE Paste Polish - 8 oz. . These products together worked beautifully. Overall, a great product. It does what it says it does and it's easy to use. Can't ask for more than that!

Always purchased Mother's clay bars. Quality product

I felt compelled to write a review based on the success of this product. I recently purchased my first vehicle: a used 1997 Honda Civic. I proudly took it home, and parked it in its new domicile in the parking garage of my apartment building. I let it rest overnight, thinking it was safe and sound. Imagine my sorrow when I visited it the next day for a drive... HORRORS!!! A nefarious sewage pipe, lurking in the ceiling, had leaked unmentionable white corrosive ectoplasm onto the roof of my new friend! The splatters covered a good quarter of the car, and the filthy residue they left behind simply would NOT come off! In frantic haste, I applied water and a towel. No joy. I dug out some mild soap and a slightly abrasive cloth. Failure. I resorted to grease-cutting detergent and as much force as I could muster. The splotches stayed, and the sewer pipe laughed evilly at my futile efforts. I was defeated. In my grief, a friend of mine suggested I try the clay bar system. I sprung for it, not expecting much, but hoping at best to polish up the unaffected side of the car. My arch-nemesis the pipe (although now taped up and plastered with a warning sign) still snickered at me from the other side of the garage. But as I applied the clay to the stains, the heavens broke and angelic voices drowned out the wicked gurgle. The residuum was going away! Hoping against hope, I kept working the area, and lo and behold, it was GONE! Now I am laughing, and the pipe no longer darkens my days. Thanks to Mothers for making a great product, and helping me enjoy the bond with my first car. ***** Okay, now, amusing narrative aside, this stuff DOES work. It took out the nasty, otherwise-indelible stains I mentioned above. It also took about 10 years off the appearance of the paint job. That's 18-year old paint looking like 7-8 year old paint: quite a noticeable difference. I couldn't quite get mine to pass the "towel test," but it passed the "spray bottle test." I.e. the spray bottle sat, unmoving, on the uncleaned area of the hood. But when placed on the clayed area, it slid right off. Provable, objective difference. It does require elbow grease and time to get this result. I am pretty sure this car was never clayed previously, and probably not waxed. I spent about 1 hour per section of car to get this result (i.e. one hour for one door, one hour for the trunk, one hour for the roof, 90 minutes for the hood, etc.) but to me it was well worth it. You may get faster results if your paint is better off to start with. Best of luck!

This is an excellent product. I was travelling for two months and my lovely wife didnt wash the volvo which had severe tree sap damage that hardened in the S California sun. I used Bug and Tar remover and these bars and it came out beautifully-took a while but did the job

This complete clay bar kit is the one of best solution to remove all the contaminants. Since my car is white, it had tar marks and insects deposit all over it. If you're detailing your car, I feel this is the best product. Use it with instant detailer and it just removes all the dirty contaminants from your car making the paint smooth as glass to touch. Takes time and effort but surely makes a difference to the paint.

I am an instant fan, works as the package says and leaves the car surface clean and shiny like new. Will purchase again and recommend to anybody wanting to look after their car. I clean my own vehicle so see what industrial fall out can do. This removed mine easily.

200% result smooth paint

Ce produit est génial. Je l'ai découvert sur des vidéos youtube et j'ai pu retirer un voile de peinture glycéro qui c'était formé partout sur ma voiture. il faut quand même de l'huile de coude mais le résultat est là. Du coup j'en ai repris pour faire ma deuxième voiture pour restaurer la carrosserie et lever les différent contaminant du vernis.
