Buttoneer Button Fastening System - NEW and Improved! - Attaches Buttons & More in Seconds - No Sewing Necessary & Works on Most Fabrics

This buttoneer is an amazing device. Rather than spend minutes at a time sewing on buttons, you just whip out your buttoneer and -POOF- magic. Button on and ready to go. Very easy to use. I'm considering using the buttoneer on some cross-stitching patterns that would help create a unique piece. Way easier than sewing by hand. Neat and tidy, no fuss, no muss. The buttoneer is a must-have for those in a hurry.

This tool simply did not work. I got it because I had several pairs of cargo shorts that were too loose on me and I wanted to move the buttons over to get a better fit. I worked with the tool for an entire afternoon and wasted 2 strips of fasteners. I managed to get 2 buttons attached, but one popped of as I was putting the shorts on. The other is still hanging on but is only fastened by 2 holes in the button. The needles on the tool were not sharp enough to go through the fabric of the shorts. I ended up having to make holes for them with an awl. I think the tool is supposed to push the fasteners through the fabric and through the holes in the button, but they don't go through the fabric. Also, the tool does nothing for buttons that have 4 holes. It just attaches to 2 holes and does nothing for the others. I returned it in frustration and am sorry I wasted so much time on it.

The Avery Buttoneer works very well for attaching more or less standard size shirt buttons to two layers of fabric. Larger button’s hole spacing makes inserting the needles a little difficult, and may prevent both “T” ends from unfolding, with the button failing to attach. Same for more than three layers of fabric. In any case, use the provided thimble to hold the back side of the fabric firmly against the buttoneer while squeezing the trigger. Be sure to order a packet of refills. We used it to attach buttons through three and four layers of fabric on a count down Christmas Tree.

After watching my collection of buttons falling of my clothing grow, I knew it was either time to re-learn some basic sewing, or try one of these devices. I chose the latter. The Buttoneer video makes it seem like once you load the strip of fasteners you are all set and off to the races. Well yes, until you need to do your second one. After each successful fastener installation you then must firmly push the fastener strip in for the next "shot". It's not a big deal, but somehow I imagined it would work like a stapler, one shot after the other, assuming the tool loaded or pulled the fastener strip in after each shot. Expect to have some miss-fires now and then, especially when you first start. There will be a learning curve. If you need to install 2, you better make sure extra available to load. The end result is great, pretty much invisible. I noticed some other makers of similar tools were listed as "temporary repair". In the Singer video, I just didn't like the look of the final job. It looked loose, obvious, and certain to fall off soon. Yes, I would purchase it again, and recommend it to others.

This product replaced the original Buttoneer. The fasteners are not compatible with each other and finding fasteners for the original is difficult. The "New" design is cheaply made and I don't expect it to last. It does work if you can get it to fasten without the push pins popping out of the sleeves instead of pushing the fasteners through the cloth. This happened on several of the buttons I was trying to attach. My original never did this. I will say however, the fasteners do appear to be a bit thicker and I expect them to hold better than the originals. If I could find fasteners for the original I would probably chuck the new one.

This thing was a headache to use. I only got to work right on my buttons 1 time. Every other time there was a problem from the fasteners being difficult to load in to the trigger getting stuck and not firing properly to the fasteners getting stuck in the thing due to misfires to the needle coming apart. It was just a mess. It really seems like this is made of cheap plastic that cost like $1 to make so they can sell it for $20. Just avoid and buy something else Update:. I'm taking back the one nice thing I said about this thing being it worked once. After barely a week and I'm not sure when it happened maybe in the washing machine. The fastener snapped off and now that button is lost forever because I can't find it. So now I'm taking back that one nice thing I said because the fastener was weak and didn't hold up at all. This thing is just complete trash

Don't buy. get the Singer. It isn't the same as the old style Buttoneer from years ago.

Years ago, I had the old model blue Buttoneer, and I used it constantly. My brother lived in a group home, where the overworked staff had no time to sew on buttons. Once a month, I'd go over there and ask the staff to bring me the clothing of all 5 residents. I'd bring over my mom's tin of assorted buttons, and my faithful Buttoneer, and I'd spend the day reaffixing buttons to all the residents' clothing. (Mostly my brother's -- he loved to pull buttons off his clothes.) I effortlessly reattached hundreds of buttons. I lost the old Buttoneer in an apartment fire, and decided to treat myself to a new one. Well, the new model is horribly clumsy to use. There's an extra step involving a sort of plastic thimble, which doesn't really work to hold the button against the garment. You really need 3 hands -- 2 to hold the thimble in place, and 1 to fire the Buttoneer, which requires a lot of pressure to engage the firing mechanism. I had 3 failed attempts to attach a button using the microscopically tiny print instructions, before I pulled up a YouTube video. The video wasn't much help, but after a few more wasted attachment attempts, I finally managed to put my button on my shirt. The only thing I like about this new contraption is the built-in compartment to hold the strips of plastic button attachments. Otherwise, if you can manage to find the old blue model Buttoneer, buy that instead of this new one. The company took a simple and reliable tool, and redesigned it so it was almost unusable.

TLDR: No fasteners included; fasteners are weak; save your money, just use needle and thread. First off the buttoneer did not come with any fasteners, despite being mentioned in the packaging on the product photos, so be prepared to purchase those separately, or better yet, don't purchase this piece of garbage at all. The fasteners only seem to work with very thin buttons, as they were not able to reach through the holes in the buttons I tried the product with. The mechanism of the fasteners seems to be similar to the nylon tags you see on clothes to attach labels/tags, so are likely to break with minimal force, so definitely not suitable as a button fastener (how else do you think the button came off in the first place). Save your money, don't buy this garbage. get a simple needle and thread, it'll work a lot better than this piece of garbage.

What a waste of money. The unit came with of 4 strips of fasteners . I think i must of have used 1/6 of them just to attach two buttons. That's was only to test the unit and must have spent an hour on that. I think it would have been faster to do them with a needle and thread. On top of that the unit is very cheaply made. It feels like it's going to break at any moment. It's not worth the price paid. It should be around 30-35 dollars at the most. It's only good with shirt buttons. Don't try to use it on a sweater with bigger buttons. A fact that's not mentioned anywhere on the page. Very disappointed with this purchase. I strongly don't recommend it. Beware of this product. You've been warned.

Flimsy and ineffective. Buttons attached entirely as per instructions just fell off immediately. Tried numerous times but the plastic fastener isn’t up to the job. I’ve wasted £25 on a very poor product.
