I'm very impressed
This vacuum works great. I love the light. I have cats and hardwood floors and I am always shocked to see how much hair is actually on my floor when I turn it on. (Need to use that push broom more often!) Battery life is decent for me, and about what I expected. I have other B&D power tools, and many batteries, so this was not going to be an issue. Still I bought a 2 pack of extra batteries on the cheap just to keep in the house. The vacuum is very lightweight and maneuverable. The suction power IS adjustable (on a properly working model!) by hitting the power button a second time. It does have a sensor which will kick it up to max should you hit a rough carpet spot, and usually on my berber carpet. If you suck up something that entangles the brush, it turns off until you remove the offending particle. In my case, usually a piece of sisal rope from a cat tree, or the edge of a blanket, etc. There are only 2 things I don't like about it. First; Although it does come with a screw-into-the-wall holder, and it does balance to stand upright by itself, I've had too many instances of knocking it over...sometimes falling down the steps and the dust cup popping off. Instead I wedge the top into a corner, leaning into the wall. This can leave a mark on your wall, but does work. Unless you wanna be a freak and purchase multiple wall holders... Hmm.. Secondly; The dust cup can be hard to empty, and I was surprised at how quickly it fills up. It is easy to get off the vacuum, but hard to pull out the top to empty it, once you do. I am not weak and people tell me I have a very good grip. Anyway I find that putting my left index finger into the opening on the side and pushing up while I pull the top works with less effort, every time. Neither of these "imperfections" is enough to deduct a star though. I've had it for 2.5 months and am waiting for another sale so I can keep one upstairs too. I wanted a vacuum with power, portability, and a powered head brush. Also one with a replaceable battery system. Already been through the "Battery is dead, so is your vacuum" saga with other brands.

Good vacuum
I bought this vacuum cleaner in December 2023 and it's still like new. The battery is still like new, I haven't noticed any deterioration in its condition. It vacuums very well, sucks up debris from the floor. Sometimes you just have to unclog the long tube because it gets clogged on wool carpets. But it's really excellent. Lightweight and, to my surprise, it doesn't wear out or break down at all, and the battery is, as you can see, very durable. It's a really good vacuum cleaner. And I've had a dozen or so of them over the last five years. The battery usually died after half a year of use. I will add that I use this vacuum cleaner every day since I bought it, sometimes shorter, sometimes longer, but every day I have an apartment, I don't have a house and I don't have pets, but I still think it's perfect for a large family like mine. It's useful for everyday use in the kitchen, dining room, hall.Today I recommended this vacuum cleaner to your friend and I hope that the battery has not lost its quality and that she will be as happy with this vacuum cleaner as I am.

Itโs not a Dyson, butโฆ
No, itโs not a Dyson, but not a Dyson price either! I have a Dyson stick vac, but it just doesnโt last long enough to get everything done. I needed a second cordless stick vac, but couldnโt afford a second Dyson, so decided to give this a shot. So here it is compared to the Dyson:Not as much power - not even close. However, it picks up dirt & hair just fine in a single pass. Probably not going to do much on carpet except pick up the loose debris on top.Love the headlight! Dysonโs is skimpy in comparison!Lighter weight and better maneuverability than Dyson.Sweet rubber wheels roll effortlessly across the floor, leaving no tracks or scratches. Dyson has tiny plastic wheels that kind-of drag across the floor, and has felt guards that collect dust & hair that have to be cleaned off.Love, love, love that it stands up on its own. The Dyson has to be propped, and is constantly falling over, violently hitting the floor. Broken parts are very expensive to replace.Easy to change out batteries. I have several B&D batteries that fit, so it will just keep going! Dysonโs battery requires โinstallationโ with a screwdriver, and no way to charge a battery without it being on the unit. Dyson gives me about 20 minutes. The long extension doesnโt release from the power head, so when using it as a hand vac, youโre limited to the 12โ extension.Overall, Iโm happy. Itโs well worth the price. If you want more, youโre going to pay more.

Light and quicker picker upper
Just buy it. Mine is about 2yrs old awesome for lighter side of cleaning. We use it a lot for small rugs and dog hairs.Works awesome and dont have to pull out the big boy. Also the battery allows me to clean about 5 rooms but dont be slow about it move fast or get the 20V B&D bigger amp hour batteries.I have several 20 volt B&D tools all compatible. Never let me down if they did it was my fault!

The best stick vac for the money. Plus a nice hack if you need it.
Why did you pick this product vs others?:After trying several other vacuums, I ended up keeping this and purchasing a second one because not only do I have all the Black & Decker batteries already for backup, but this thing will vacuum up all of the things you never even knew were in your carpet and on your floor. It has a light in the front to help you see under underneath furniture and dark spaces like closets and hallways. Itโs easy to empty and easy to remove the beater bar so that you can clean that periodically. Itโs also super lightweight which I love. Thereโs just this one thing you need to know about the vacuuming of the carpets and the vac turning itself offโฆ.. thatโs really the only reason that Iโm even leaving this review is because I read other reviews and I thought oh those people just donโt know what theyโre doing and now I have new carpets and it happened to me too! I was like, nope! so I found a way around it by gluing some items onto the bottom of the vacuum to create a little bit of additional airflow and small bit of height so that when I vacuum the carpets now it doesnโt get so suctioned into the surface and shut itself offโฆ so take a look at the video and just know that if you have this problem, find a creative solutionโฆ this vacuum is worth it.

Save Your Frustration!
I have had this vacuum for less than a month and I just want to throw it on the trash heap! It started out fine but a couple weeks ago the vacuum started going into high range while vacuuming wood floors. We'll this uses up the battery. I thought it was me hitting the high range by accident so I repositioned so it wouldn't happen again. We'll, it wasn't me. Here 2 weeks later, it is working in high range longer than low range, so I get a total of about 10 minutes of use.I may expect this from a cheap off brand, but I've used B & D for years with no problem. Their quality has gone waaay down if this is how they work! This is my second B & D within about 18 months - the last one was the pet version and it did fine until the wheels fell off , that you cannot find replacements for! But this one has me pulling my hair out. I don't think I'll be buying another Black & Decker. Don't waste your money or your time on this one!!

Stopped working after 1 year and 2 months. Pathetic.
2nd updated review:I called Black & Decker and submitted a warranty claim and they are sending me a replacement vacuum. So I'm changing my review to three stars because of this. It's still not good that the vacuum had problems one year and two months after I purchased it but at least Black & Decker is honoring their warranty. Hopefully this replacement will last longer.Updated review: Changed from 5 starts to 1 star because after 1 year and two months, it stopped working. The bearings are making a horrible screeching sound and dust blows out from the engine. Black and Decker should be ashamed of the quailty that they are producing. I followed all the instructions about cleaning the vacuum and the filter...didn't matter. If Black and Decker even reads these reviews, they should contact me and send me a new vacuum.Original review: This is an excellent stick vacuum. It has very powerful section compared to other ones I've had and it's easy to use. The battery system is great because Black and Decker allows you to use the same battery across many of their tools... so there's no issue with buying a new battery and not being able to find it. The only issue and it's not a very big one is that you can't put the vacuum permanently in low power. The auto sense will put it in low power when it's on floor vs. carpeting, and you can permanently put it into the high power mode, but you cannot set it into the low power mode. This would be helpful for some throw rugs I have because the suction is powerful and I have to be careful on the throw rugs.

Works great! Better than expected!
I was looking for a smaller, inexpensive vaccum to use mostly on my hardwood floors. I have one cat and otherwise don't have much foot traffic. I mainly was wantinf something to clean up cat hair with. After days and days of research I finally settled on this bad boy(which was cheaper than the other options I found I might add).Other reviews I've seen bring up the battery life a lot. I personally have no issue with it. I vaccum my whole house daily minus my carpeted areas. I can get about 3 days out of my battery before needing to charge it. After vacuuming I usually pop it on the charger just so I know it's ready to go.The "turbo" mode, as I like to call it does take more battery and it kicks on when it thinks it's needed (think rugs, or areas with a lot of dirt and debris). I will say the vaccum does try to eat your rugs and will suck them up in the brush causing the vaccum to turn off. Otherwise no complaints there, the suction is great, almost too great for the rugs and cat toys haha. For those with cats, it does pick up cat litter decently, you do need to go over it more than once and of course when removing/emptying the canister, do it over the trash for any loose pieces. The added light on the front is great to really see what's on the floor and what spots you've missed. You can unattach the floor attachment for a handheld vaccum(works great for couches and vehicles) however I do wish there was a brush attachment. The canister is smaller but again I have no issues with emptying it after each vaccum and sometimes can get away with every two to three vaccums. It is pretty light weight considering however I feel like it would still be a bit on the heavier side for someone who is older.A bonus is that the brush roller easily pops out to be cleaned( to remove any hair wrapped around it) to keep it working as it should. The part with the filter is a little tough to pull out at times but overall not too much of a hassle. It handles good and rolls fine although the wheels can be a little squeaky. It is decently loud on the turbo mode but not too horrible on the level 1 mode.Overall I would recommend, it's great and better than expected. It's not big and bulky and gets the job done at a great price.I will say I'm not too sure how well it would hold up battery and canister wise for mostly carpeted houses with multiple pets. But for mostly hardwood with 1 or 2 animals you should be good to go!

Highly recommend
Debated between several cordless vacuums and ended up choosing this one, I love it.The battery lasts a really long time, it is not super noisy, and picks up everything and anything from the ground, super easy to clean the base and to clear the reservoir too.Very lightweight as well and the light at the end of the vacuum to see the floor is super helpful when cleaning dark spots.

I used to have a Dyson...
I had a Dyson stick vacuum that cost a ridiculous amount that lasted for less than four years. I did love it initially, but now not the value for money. So I figured I might as well pay way less and see how this one goes! So far so good. This is more functional than a corded vacuum for what I need and is pretty easy to manage, but not quite as maneuverable as the Dyson was (although the low profile ability to reach under furniture is better). Also the B&D is not quite as light, but in the same ballpark. The canister is small, but not that much smaller than and is MUCH easier to empty compared to the Dyson. And if I notice the "sucking power" is lacking, emptying the canister (because like I said, small for some jobs) always fixes it right back up for me. The one thing I'll say is I am taking care to handle to plastic piece that releases then locks the canister back on with a delicate touch- read that some other users had worries about the longevity there. Also read that it's "need-hearing-protection loud"- for me, it is comparable to any other vacuum I've ever had and not at all a problem. And I love that the battery is interchangeable with other B&D products I already own so the battery life is a non-issue. I LOVE the light because it's so obvious what it is that you're trying to pick up.Bought it in March and if this vacuum lasts another 8-10 months, which I fully expect it to, it will already be better value than my Dyson was. (Disclaimer: got this for about $175 on sale)
