The best notebook for engineers. Ever.
I started using these back in the late '90's (*gasp*) when I was an undergraduate. I have at least 20 of them on my shelf - each from a different class - and I still refer to them from time to time. They have held up exceedingly well. Now that I'm doing my grad work, I'm glad to see they're still available. I just bought a dozen of them, to use for school and for other projects. They are perfect for engineering, math or science notes and projects. The pages are larger than 8.5x11, so you can easily staple or glue handouts into them. The front and back cover are sturdy and tough, and the binding is strong but flexible. The 1/4" grid spacing is great for drawing schematics or charts or graphs or whatever you need to do. Good quality paper too. I have a few Ampad computation books too, which I bought when I couldn't find these, and they (the Ampads) are inferior. The paper is rough and pulpy, and the spine _much_ too stiff -- it won't lie flat on the table. One of the nice things about the Nationals (used to be called Avery, but still #43648) is that you can "crack" the spine and the book will lay flat. If you're an engineering student, this is the book you want to buy.

Product remains true to original. Offers high quality
I am an adamant believer that you get what you pay for, and in this case I wanted a quality notebook. This (computational) notebook certainly meets that requirement. You might ask why pay (around) $8 for a notebook, especially in this digital age. Well, that engineering sketch, that graphic rendition, lab result, college note-taking, and many other things just don't transfer to a phone as readily. There's still a need to write, and a need to keep something on paper for a while. That said, if you're reading this, you already known that "National Brand" supplied these to the US Government for many years, part number "43-648." I compared my new notebook from Amazon to one from the 80's (yes, they hold up that well.) The paper weight remains the same. The blue rulering is much darker than my original. Two *bold blue* lines run horizontally across the top. Another runs vertically 1.25 inches on the left (even pages) and 1.25 inches along the right (for odd pages). This exactly matches the original. And of course, *fine pitched* lines run across the whole page. Some may feel the darker color might interfere with their writing (maybe my original faded?) Both are still 75 pages. The white printed label is a little different, but highly reminiscent of the original. I know this is nominal, but the overall look and feel (quality) remains the same. While the overall size 11.75 x 9.25 inches remains the same, there is one significant difference: The newer notebooks have pointed corners on the right edge. The original had beveled edges (you can see this in the Amazon photo.) Not sure how well the pointed edge will hold up over time. Last, the notebook is now "Made in Mexico", and no longer by Dennison National Company of Holyoke MA. I highly recommend this notebook for those who document things a long time.

A must for college students
Finally the notebook I've been looking for! I highly recommend this notebook for any science, math, and engineering majors, but it can be used for anything by anyone. The reason I mainly recommend it for the indicated major is because of the dimensions of the book. This book is pretty large, great for long computations, and/or long notes. So let me just cut to the chase and tell you the things I personally like and dislike about the notebook. Pros: -Paper size is large enough for good calculations. -Paper quality is better than your average white sheet of college ruled paper.(Certain pens will bleed through the page if you apply too much pressure, but to give you an idea I use Pilot G2 05 pens, and Pilot Precise V5 pens, and the pages keeps up with it). -I like the color of the page since it gives it an old school tan/yellowish color. -Finally I really like the grid layout on the pages. Again, great for taking notes, doing calculations, and graphing. Cons: -On the actual grid pages there are two dominant vertical lines, I mean its not a big deal, but it throws you off while graphing. -The front and back cover. The material is soft cover, but it's that material where you have to be careful because it can easily fold, and easily stained. Overall I love this notebook! I highly recommend it.

Very nice - pages think and numbered
Nice, it arrived in good shape in a box so not crumpled in any way. Product is as advertised.

Good notebook, slightly damaged.
The product was good except that of the 4 notebooks that I ordered, one had the top back corner torn off. It still works as a lab notebook but it was not in perfect condition.

All I can say, once I don't return it, it is solid and reliable. Trust me!
All I can say, once I don't return it, it is solid and reliable. I believe in responsible conduct of research and have been using these since 2006, my researchers too. They don't lose their pages like the expensive types. These ae MUST for my researchers in keeping records of their experimental records for others to replicate!!!!! They are second to NONE!!!!!!!! Trust me!

Cheaper Than Bookstore Alternative
Needed this for a lab class--quad lined pages, numbers, no carbon copies, etc. Notebook at the bookstore was recommended--Roaring Spring #77648 I own one of those and one of these--this one is cheaper from Amazon and is MUCH cheaper than the Roaring Spring in the bookstore (surprise!). Have been using this for a little while--cover may not be as thick as the Roaring Spring, but it's just something you notice, not something that matters. Both notebooks are quality and durable. My inky pens don't even come close to bleeding through the pages, so writing on both sides isn't an issue. Only con is the binding--this is why we were required to buy these books--because they aren't spiral lined. However, with this binding, when you get towards the center of the book, you begin to lose close to an inch of writing space. Annoying, but seems to be the norm. Highly recommend this as an alternative to whatever your bookstore has, especially with the free 2 day prime shipping! PS: And it's not really green paper---more like a blah yellow.

My go-to lab notebook!!
My favourite lab notebook to use. I did a lot of research to determine what the best notebook to use was and decided upon this one. The pages are large enough to glue/tape in full pieces of paper, so you don’t need to fold anything and can put in full protocols. The colour of the pages are also nice on the eyes and I love the grid pattern of the pages (makes it easy to draw diagrams, etc.).

Very good notebook
Numbered pages; easy on eyes pages; ruled, guidance lines for writing on pages; well bound. Have used these for years. The cover is paper not hard bound, so must be protected from liquids.

Great laboratory book
I also thought that I was getting 6 notebooks for $30 but it was only for 1. Regardless, this is a great notebook and I prefer to use it above any other lab book because it has large pages (large enough to paste in an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper) and it stays open when placed on a table (other lab books I've used will not stay open. The grid paper is also nice for drawing diagrams versus regular lined paper in most notebooks.
