Excellent Lighting Kit, Well worth the investment, but read my review for plus and minus
This is an ongoing review on the Diagon Alley Lego Lighting kit by Briksmax. This is an excellent kit that arrives in a small box with all the components clearly labelled in clip-lok bags each with their respective part numbers (i.e. A01, A02, E02 etc). There are three manuals each with pictures which cover all the four shops/buildings. Included in the kit, are LEDs, Wires, Lego Bricks, tiny double sided sticky pads, 4 x AAA battery holders, and 4 x USB Connectors, including a "receiver" unit for the Remote Control which is NOT supplied with a battery. I will update this review as I progress, but I got my Briksmax kit on 18th February and luckily my Diagon Alley set arrived the same day direct from Lego. I have broken my review into sections - Positive, Negative, Suggestion, Typo and Updates. Do not take the Negative as a reason for NOT buying as, as these are just my own thoughts and niggles, and realistically are NOT a reason to avoid. Positive: 01. The installation whilst fiddly makes the entire shops look fantastic, the lighting is very well done and well worth installing, even though routing the wires is a chore, its worth the effort and great to bring the complexity of the buildings and its features to life. 02. Each building uses its only battery box/USB connection, so each is powered independently. Negative: 01. The instructions are laid out for each from when each building is "complete", this makes it over complicated since you have to remove bricks/disassemble parts/bits to go back and do the cabling, it would be more sensible to provide two sets of instructions: one for when its complete, and one for when its being assembled to ease cabling whilst it is built. 02. I was scratching my head trying to work out where the wires went and the routing of the cables and plugs, sometimes the images take a wire outside the walls, and then you only discover 10 steps later where that wire is going, so it is possible to find parts of it very confusing. Images are certainly helpful and I can see they have tried to do a similar process with the images like Lego to make it easy to follow, but its over-complicated by a manual that is aimed to add it after build completion and there are some images that need better clarity over wiring. Suggestions to make things cleaner 01. Wires are also taken outside the walls and run down the sides, this is fine, however maybe some sort of flat drainpipe cover or something could be fabricated to cover the wires to hide them and disguise them? 02. One remote receiver is included for the remote, which has 4 connection sockets, to use the remote you would need to plug each building into one socket on the receiver, if you wanted to display them opposite each other - 2 on left and 2 on right and form a cobbled street, there is no way to use one receiver to complete that objective and would need two. I contacted them via email, I was advised that these would be available to buy from April/May 2021 at additional cost, but as yet no price is available. This way you could connect 2 light sets to one receiver and the other two buildings to the other receiver (same channels but different sockets), they confirmed this has been tested and works fine. However there are no wires included in the kit I can see long enough to connect all four buildings in a straight line to one receiver. On the positive side each building uses its only battery box/USB connection, so each is powered independently. 03. It would be useful to supply 4 manuals instead of 3, one manual for each building, as they have used two manuals to cover all four buildings and one building starts in manual 01 and continues in manual 02. This is not a problem, but would make it neater! The third manual is taken up with connecting the remote. Manual Typo? 01. I got to building 03 (Fortesques/Flourish and Blotts) and from the manual, it told me to use wire (I think it was A04), however I had none left, when I read back through all the manuals, at no point had i use the wrong wires, and when i checked ahead I found i only needed 2 x A03 wires, and I had 3 left, so used an A03, which turned out to be the correct length, maybe this was a manual misprint. Update: March 2021. I have now completed the fourth building Weasley Wizard Wheezes, as the shop for this one is the largest build there is more wiring to do, and this is no easy feat, I had a small disaster which one bulb (A24) is a slow flash blue LED and due to the location of the wiring a few wires all seem to congregate in a small area and one thing that occurred was one of the two wires that feeds that LED was accidentally cut by the brick above, so I had to painstakingly 'solder' the wire - no easy feat when they are the thickness of cotton, luckily this worked. Photos for this will be added soon. Pictures for the 4th shop to follow Overall: Well worth the money and the investment, I now have to look to getting a display cabinet to show the completed models off!

Very good but fiddly
Our R2D2 now looks fabulous, but boy was it fiddly. Prepare to have patience and make sure you have steady hands and good eyesight. I broke one light so do take your time and be careful as the parts are fragile.

Great lighting kit
6 lights, 2 strip lights and 2 power sources (battery box or USB) supplied. All lights are easy to retro fit. Connecting wires are very thin and the connections very, very small. Tweezers are supplied but I still found making the connections the fiddliest part of assembly. Lights look absolutely fantastic when on; they are surprisingly bright and give the orchids an ethereal look when on. They could be considered expensive for, in reality, what they are, but are worth the cause for what they bring to the assembly.

Good realistic lighting kit for the Lego Telephone box model
This is a decent lighting kit for the Lego Red Telphone box. It was fiddly to install but that's because the kit uses small LEDs and very fine cables to be as unobtrusive as possible. It comes with decent instructions, and it's well thought out lighting: lights are on the street lamp, the "TELEPHONE" signs on 3 sides, and the interior of the box. This is a good realistic lighting kit. I'd seen some that put lights on the flowers or the street sign, or strips around the each window or random studs, and without lighting the TELEPHONE blocks - they all just seemed over the top and very unrealistic. This kit has the lights in the right places to make it feel like a realistic UK night scene; the inside of the box and the telephone signs were lit in real life. It's bright and well lit without being overpowering in a dark room. It is worth knowing, the light strips for the TELEPHONE segments do need to be trimmed with scissors; and it's a little confusing as the diagram in the book was the opposite way round to the actual layout of the strips I received. You need to retain 7 out of 11 pairs lights and their capacitors, so need to cut away the last 4. The picture wants you to cut just after the light & capacitor numbered 7, and in the picture it's numbered ascending from 1-7 from the left where the power connects. However my strips were powered from the right end next to lights numbered 11 and I had to count down backwards to keep 7 lights. So I had to cut between lights/capacitor 4 and 5 to still have 7 lights left. I think people need to be very careful at this step as people could easily over trim the strips if they cut where the instructions say but have strips powered from the right side like mine were. It would have been nice if these had been pre-trimmed for the set. Overall I'm happy with this lighting kit; it really adds to the kit and it's the most realistic placement of lights I've found. It loses 1 star only because the trimming instructions could be problematic for some people.

Very happy with finished result.
Superb kit. Very happy. I didn't use the fuselage LED strips for the windows. I didn't like how they would look in daylight on the external surface of the plane. But the engine lights, side lights and cockpit look fantastic. When assembling you do have to take your time, patience is the key. The wires need to be very fine, and you need to discreetly hide them or wrap them. I found the online video link very helpful, better than the printed instruction diagrams. I also changed some bricks of the tail fin to white, and ordered a British Airways sticker kit. Then mounted it to a Marks Magic Frame. I am very happy with the final appearance. Its powered by an Anker multi-USB power adapter hidden behind the frame, it powers the Lego Light Kit and the USB frame illuminations

Disappointed! Not worth the money..
Awful product, you’re not buying a logo kit.. that you build! You’re buying just the lights for that model head, utterly disappointed not worth the money.

A wonderful addition to a classic build
Thrilled with this light set. My first attempt at using a light kit. Challenging, at times frustrating but ultimately very rewarding! I highly recommend briksmax lights kit. The lights are high quality and bright and colourful. They have brought an already beautiful set to light and is now more like a christmas decoration than a standard lego build. I would urge everyone to give it a go, dont be put off as the hard work and perseverance pays off big time! Briksmax customer service were amazing, I realised I was a few lights missing, contacted the seller, they were very helpful to resolve the issue and received the missing lights quickly enabling me to finish the set. I will be trying another set of these lights 😀

Be very patient but it’s worth it :-)
Concord needs lights ! And after taking the plunge and buying this set I am fairly happy with them . Admittedly you have to pay attention to the installation instructions and make sure you route the cables accordingly, there is some disassembly required to hide and fix lights but it’s not overly difficult. It’s quite the improvement when they’re on , all of the ‘ window ‘ led strips are a nice colour and temperature, engine lights emit a warm orange glow and there’s a ‘ Droop Snoot’ led with an underside led in the front carriage and finally two navigation / marker lights red / green on each wing which coincidentally flash at a nice pace , reducing in brightness then increasing. There is minimal wiring seen on the upper side and depending how you tidy the cables underneath you can make it quite tidy . There is no suggestion as to what to do with the battery box that comes with the lights , illustrations show it lazily sitting in front of the plaque on the stand which in my opinion is silly , so I’ve mounted the battery box underneath at the rear of the model . The battery box has studs Lego type anyway so with a little pressure it fixes quite well enabling a cleaner wire free , mess and clutter free display. I’m using rechargeable batteries and it’s a much more pleasant look rather than wires coming to it from the mains etc via usb . Plus you can also pick the model up while it’s lit when it’s running off batteries . Didn’t take long to install however I didn’t really pay attention to the time when I started . Quality kit , very well packaged and the means to easily identify each package during assembly. She’s a gorgeous bird now.
