Hood Latch Release Handle Cable Repair Kit Billet Aluminum Replacement for CIVIC 1996-2005, CRV 1997-2006,Element 2003-2011

Installed on my old 2002 Honda Civic Coupe that I've been using a pair of pliers to open the hood on for years. I don't know why I didn't do this sooner. I bought the red version and it looks great, and is made of nice solid metal with 2 set screws to secure it to the shaft of the hood release cable. Installation took me about 15 minutes, with the bulk of that time being spent removing the body panel and, importantly, dremeling away the old plastic around the metal rod this attaches to. That's a required step, it would be pretty difficult to do without power tools, so make sure you have some sort of tool that can cut the plastic sheathing off. The hood open pull lever on my car takes about double the intended force to use, so I was worried the set screws wouldn't be enough to hold it in place, but it definitely is. In other words, this is just a great product. It looks even better than the original, fits perfectly and is high quality.

This is a secret favorite thing to put on my hondas. Simple to install and now i don't get the gas and the hood levers mixed up.

I like this item, but there are concerns. the set screws I received, were not only too short, but one was a Allen head {wrench came with} and the other was for a flat head screwdriver. By the time you get them in there, your only using very few threads. The drilled and tapped holes were not evenly spaced, one was "about" in the middle, but the other was more towards the bottom of the inner hole. The Main issue with this is that it doesn't work well with the Dorman Replacement Cable. I bought both at the same time to avert future problems. This has a -Round- hole, the Dorman Cable has a very short and -Square- end on the cable after removing the plastic. all the plastic needs to be removed. and the shaft has to have the corners rounded to fit, also being short, it puts this handle right up against the mount to get any cable to pull. I am going to try and move the mounting bracket and hopefully get a little more area for fingers behind it, or cut out a good chunk of the trim piece. Anyway, if the seller sees this, will you consider making a longer one with a square hole for non-factory honda cables. thanks

Worked perfectly solid aluminum was easy to install with a Dremel, I can now use my pliers for something else besides releasing the hood of the car lol

Item exactly as described, installed it less than five minutes works very very well... Paid extra for overnight shipping but Amazon had it on the truck for delivery all day and at 9:20 PM the GPS signal was lost and I got an email at 10:10 telling me it's running behind... I was watching this so I can make sure I was here and it said there was only three deliveries left mine was the last one, Amazon needs to get on it it seems like their service is going downhill.

Mine came blemished with what looks like a dab of paint. Someone must not have been super careful with powder coating or however they painted it. My car isn't the prettiest so I guess this just matches the aesthetic. Doesn't affect functionality, but still disappointed with the quality control
